The last time I played Sunday league the ref wasn’t giving us anything all game. Finally in the end of the second half we get a penalty to hopefully even it up, it’s a definite penalty also. I so I turn to my best mate and say (just between the two of us) “We finally got a decision “. Ref hears me say that, books me and then takes away the penalty and gives them a free kick where the goalkeeper brought down our striker. I watched my manager chase that ref halfway around the pitch before we all stop him from giving him a hiding. It wouldn't surprise me if this ref was the same ref that day!

A man seeking a non-significant position of power (over women) to stroke his own ego gets called out for his impotence by... a feeemale? Of course he gave her a red card. No cards for the brutality on the field - it's violence against women, he must be super turned on by that. But talking confidently in the direction of an alpha-man? Must be punished harshly! So says the book of Tate. I'm pretty sure he would have gone straight home to beat his wife and yell at the kids to celebrate his accomplishments here. But I'm confident no woman ever let him near her. Local judges must hand-out restraining orders against him like he hands out red cards. God, seriously, if this guy wasn't paid to fix the match, I think someone needs to look more into him. His computer must be full of illegal stuff and he certainly is a danger to society. That man's ego is as fragile as his masculinity is toxic. Mark my words: He will commit (more?) crimes eventually...

@@abasudoh7459 no abuse is a red card offence. You’re trained to red card it. It’s only as you move up the levels (bare in mind he will be level 5 and you start on 7 so is a relatively new referee) that suddenly abuse becomes okay because the spectacle and money becomes more important than the actual rules of the game. So yes you do see games like this, when I refereed I officiated them with captains only with straight yellows for swearing at me and reds if they carried on. Vividly remember one game I gave 3 reds and 5 yellows to one team in the first half, then they decided to “punish” me by not saying a word in the second half. Exactly what I wanted, didn’t hear a word of abuse in the second half.

Even if refs get things wrong, you still can't say what you want. And the other player just got a yellow, not a red. Yellow for diving: Is it the wrong call? 1) Law 12 - Fouls & Misconduct - "using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or action(s)" (You hear her call the ref a fucking idiot) is grounds for a straight red. 2) Law 5 - The Referee - "The decisions of the referee, and all other match officials, must always be respected." The card was given, he's not going to overturn it, so leave the pitch. Their captain doesn't accept the decision and keeps hounding the ref. A captain can converse with the ref but if they're told you no then it's a no. 3) Ref obviously already annoyed with the Watford players but to give the benefit of doubt, he had to have thought it was a dive otherwise that's a red to the opposing keeper. Lino should have had a view too and at least influence the decision. 4) Law 17 - The Corner Kick - "The corner flag post must not be moved" She gets more than one warning and more than likely says something under her breath as the ref walks away otherwise he'd not turn. 5) Law 12 - Fouls & Misconduct - Lewes player is actually impeded by the Watford player play continues with advantage to Lewes. "moving into the opponent's path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player." You could argue here that the ball was still in playing distance with a super outstretched leg but at match speed it'd be hard to catch 6) Absolute foul with shoulder and arm going into the Lewes players back. Can see why it's not given though if officials thought the contact was shoulder to shoulder or the Watford player got her body infront. Ref clearly was unhappy with the Watford players and a little card happy when he could have diverted from the direct ruling and given warnings but seems to me he just played too much by the book. The nearside lino needs to give their head a wobble though or pull out her FA handbook. She even enters the pitch to avoid running through mud which is a big nono. Groundskeeper might want to actually do some work.

As a referee myself. The first “incident” could easily be perfectly fair, smashing the ball just to complain to the ref is easily dissent (a yellow card offence) however, if she said something that the ref would deem as foul or abusive language, then it’s a fair red card. Second sending of again, could’ve said something that classes as dissent, just depends on what was said but as mentioned she did seem calm and relaxed so perhaps a VERY harsh sending off Goalkeeper tripping that player is definitely a red card for me! The ball is going wide of the goal but it wasn’t really still moving fast and a clear sight of goal by the time she got back up and almost got to it again, defender was too far away The 2nd lewes goal is legit for me, defender blocks the path and slows herself down therefore no foul given. The corner flag HAS to be on the field and CANNOT be removed. If a player deliberately removes or significantly displaces a corner flag during play, the referee will typically award an indirect free kick to the opposing team from the point where the infraction occurred, usually near the corner flag area; this is considered a minor infringement, and depending on the severity of the action, a caution (yellow card) might also be issued to the offending player Absolutely no clue why he gave a red card

I only see one thing wrong here. The keeper should have seen red for DOGSO. The part at the beginning, who knows what she said to to him to see red. The 2nd girl in the first part only got a yellow, dissent is an absolute yellow, nothing wrong there. Also him marching her off the field right after the red is absolutely the correct decision. Saying you've never seen a ref pointing someone off after a red says you don't watch football. You give the red and then that signal everytime. The "tripping" could go either way, what was the referees view of it? Were watching from a high up tv camera. Assistants flag also stayed down so he played on. The corner, who knows what she said again. Some kind of slur or something is an absolute red and it states in the laws of the game the flag is not to be touched at all on a corner. She's a professional and should know better. Also him watching the box and not her throwing the flag means he was positioned correctly.

I’m a regular fan at Shrewsbury Town FC for Men and Women and I want to say that ref is like any ref in the women’s game but that got bad to absolutely farcical in like 5 seconds! How is the FA still hiring this guy. He obviously doesn’t know how to ref and has a hint of sexism too. Also if I was a Lewes player I’d be like ‘ref like take our keeper off this is utterly stupid and wasting our time’. Also ‘you don’t know what you doing’ - is such a polite chant in this sort of scenario. If this was a male non-league game - the amount of swearing and cursing would be unbelievable!

Far too many idiotic comments from people that either don't know the rules. or more importantly didn't actually hear comments that were made by players. The referee was unfortunately correct in most of his decisions - the only one that he appeared to get wrong was the foul by the goalkeeper.

Two things: 1- Yes, the law states "Trips or attempts to trip" 2- The wording for all fouls and misconduct "If, in the opinion of the referee..." It appears that the GK attempts to trip the opposision player, but we only get a distant view of it from side on. The referee is in line with the play and has a different angle than that of the camera. Whether it's true there was a foul or not is unclear. He has decided that in his opinion, this was simulation.

The first red card could have been offensive & abusive language which is a red card. Dissent is a yellow but if what she said was aggressive he's well within the laws to send her off. This is the women's 3rd tier and so the next yellow card is not her 2nd as he never shows the red, but a use of the sin bin for dissent. The yellow for the keeper isn't so cut and dry because it's gone so wide so he could quite easily argue that to his observer. The foul for the goal is a clear error and he would get pulled up for that. A player can't move the flag, again if he's getting observed and he doesn't stop her doing that then he'd get marked down. Admittedly that game should be getting called off as you said. The final red card is almost certainly the same as the first. You haven't heard what she said. For all you know, she said "I hope you family dies" and I can't imagine you'd think that's acceptable. Clearly the red is for what she's said not what she's done. A quote from the match report on Watford's website "Drè Georgiou was dismissed for alleged foul language and captain Megan Chandler was sin-binned for dissent." The mad thing about people commenting on refs is that they have no idea what they're talking about and yet you're putting this guy down like you know better when you don't. You've made several errors in your understanding just watching this clip and now you're making awful comments about a guy in front of your thousands of viewers for knowing the laws better than you.

I was a Sunday league referee for 25 years; I hope I didn't behave in the same way although I can remember at least 3 games where I sent off 4 players, including one with 4 from the same team. Remember issuing a red card after 18 seconds of the first half in one game. We can't hear what was being said (either way) so we don't know the full situation but purely on the basis of what I see, I think I would have let the first one go and given the throw-in to Lewes. For the second one, I was always taught not to wave your hands about like a railway signalman so make a crisp and clear signal and finish, importantly, don't put yourself in a position on the pitch where's likely to be conflict. By number three, you've already lost one of the teams and it's almost inevitable that you'll get grief so you have to try and work with the players as best you can. I think I'd have halted the game, let tempers cool down a bit and got somebody to brush away the water (but that's something that you and your team should be looking at before the game starts). In my day, it was mostly about ensuring that the pitch wasn't covered in dog poo.

Technicallyyyy yes the letter of the law is if you so much as touch the corner flag it is a yellow. Removing it is also a yellow. Not a straight red but if she displayed dissent about the corner flag the straight red is justified. Now that said, even though it’s the letter of the law, it does go against the “spirit of the game” which is also in the IFAB laws of the game. Torn on that decision, but siding with the ref on the corner issue. Every other call was completely laughable though

As a former referee, I would never want to work with this guy. I would like to know what the players said to get a straight red to know whether or not those reds are justified but his poor decisions snowballed and compounded and led to the red cards. Missed fouls led to goals as well. I had to a double and triple take on the “dive” but after pausing the video at the moment of contact it looks like the goalkeepers foot is already on the ground and the Watford player actually steps on the goalkeepers foot and went down. With that being said, the body language of the goalkeeper screams guilty so the ref could easily give a foul + booking. The one thing where the referee was actually spot on was not watching the corner taker. There’s no action over there. All of the players are in the penalty area. Why on earth should the referee be looking at the corner taker. The referee is also in the right in requiring the corner flag be in the ground, there’s no if and or buts about the corner flag in the rule book. However, he’s lost everyone’s respect by this point so regardless of whether he is actually right or wrong in any given decision the game was already fucked.
