@@crazyinsanepenguin idk, watching the whole thing with Kel in AO I can definitely see how that would have colored peoples' perceptions of Jerri and led them to view her already abrasive personality as "villainous" as the series went on of course, now even Jeff has come out as saying he believes Kel DID smuggle that food in, but no one had that knowledge at the time and the edit had to paint her as the one in the wrong so that we would side with Tina

Honorable mention (imo) is the merged tribe from Amazon. The shelter was great until their crap planning led to it catching on fire while at a challenge burning the shelter & their stuff with it. The shelter wasn’t bad or poorly designed, the fire was caused by reckless handling of firewood. Butch left some right by the fire and leading up to the shelter wall so when it predictably caught fire, the entire shelter went up in flames.
@haydenfaithh

@@haydenfaithh It wasn't there initially, they used the space underneath the shelter itself for storage but that got full so Butch started putting it in the little firehut too because he was so obsessed with gathering firewood for whatever reason and they had it in abundance. On paper Rupert's shelter sounds like a good idea. especially underground where you would stay cooler during the day. But digging that deep removes the ability to sleep easily, does not protect you from the wildlife, and then the elements also took a toll as we saw. They built further up to avoid the tide coming in, and used trees and such as a natural cover in addition to using prawns (Hopefully weaved_ and rain gutters, they would have had a fairly decent shelter. (Minus the sleeping area, beyond everything else, I cannot see a spot for them to sleep.

What if there was a season that started in a merge, or 1 tribe, starting on day 1. The first several "tribe" immunity challenges would be men vs women, old vs young, school yard pick of tribes to compete in the challenge, etc. So, each pair of tribes for each challenge would be different until a certain number of players is left and they have individual immunity challenges. This idea probably has flaws, but what do you think? Could this day 1 merge idea work? Even if the details are different from my explanation.
@paulwright6044
@paulwright6044 3 жыл бұрын
I've though of this type of twist for year, and thought "Survivor: One World" might try something like that when I first heard the name. I like the idea of everyone together on one beach, as it eliminates the possibility of pre-merge jury boots having never spent a night living with someone who makes it to Final Tribal Council. You could pick teams schoolyard style (which in and of itself could cause drama -- hi, Michaela!) or random draw, with the losing team going to Tribal Council. It would be so important to have strategy in place ahead of time, as you'd never know who is going to vote and how many you may have. Do you pick your allies for your team, guaranteeing your safety if you lose? Will that isolate a strong ally on the opposing team (who might certainly be voted out if they lose)? The concept reminded me of the half-and-done season of "Pirate Master," which tried (and failed) to put "Survivor" on a boat.The only thing that I could see wrong here is teams starting to throw challenges to get rid of strong individual players. Maybe have the winning team grant individual immunity to one other player?
@Nate9-9
@Nate9-9 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulwright6044 well the issue of throwing the challenge could be solved or at least improved a couple ways- Combine immunity and reward so there is an incentive that is good enough to where they don't want to throw the challenge. Have a penalty in addition to losing immunity. Maybe a disadvantage in the next challenge or something. This could be sort of like a speed bump in the amazing race. Each "tribal" immunity challenge could have 3 different teams each time instead of 2. Not a perfect answer, but it would be harder to throw a challenge if 2 or more teams are all trying to throw it as well. If they are each trying to get rid of a strong player. Throwing a challenge usually involves stalling for time. The problem if they did this is challenges could last a while. Always have another immunity challenge that would give immunity to 1 or more of the members of the team that is going to tribal. Some of these would probably over complicate the season espectially for production, maybe it can work. Also, maybe they can design challenges that are harder to throw, idk.

Now, a lo cabin could work. But the problem was always going to be "underground". Had they just stuck to the cabin on the surface and focused on stuff like roofing, that infamous shelter could have worked.

I saw this title and my first thought was Rupert's horrific "cabin" and Jaburu, and I was not disappointed. 😂 I forgot about the others on this list! It always threw me why the Jaburu women were so hopeless with thier shelter - they were clearly capable, so they just...chose not to???? And I can never understand Rupert's insistence on the UNDERGROUND cabin. Why not above ground??? And why in the SAND?! On the BEACH, NEXT TO THE OCEAN, where the tide change and there's no tree cover and flooding it is SO easy with one rainstorm?! Absolutely baffling.It still could've been unique, to still build a cabin-style shelter, possibly even achievablein the time frame of the didn't waste all thier time and energy digging. But instead, it was absolutely bonkers stupid and ultimately miserable. At least he eventually admits it was the worst idea, ever, but man it's SO hard to watch him double down on it and steamroll Jerri and the others into doing it, when it's clearly SUCHHH a stupid idea.

Petition for another have vs have nots season, but the have nots get Wendell and Boston Rob to build a shelter for them. Which therefore cancels out the twist entirely and makes it just a normal season.

Question: if no one drops out of Fiji and they stick to the original Race War 2 plan, does the "Haves vs. Have Nots" twist work better? You'd have one tribe living in the lap of luxury, with another living...by the ankle of luxury? The other two might have to fend for themselves, but you might not have had the steamrolling that happened with Ravu if four tribes compete for that camp. It also didn't help that the Moto tribe had a MASSIVE amount of stuff just handed to them. Even if it was just a fraction of that, they would've still been much better off than Ravu, demonstrating the point of the twist, while not presenting an insurmountable obstacle to Ravu.

I think we've all had a lot of fun dissing Rupert for his one bad shelter in All Stars. That said, the guy still made decent shelters for Drake in Pearl Islands, and also helped Morgan with theirs, And made a good shelter for the Hero Tribe in HvV, so yeah I think Tina knows what she's talking about when she'd rather have him on her tribe than his wife (no offense Laura B).

No tribe has ever built a shelter that kept out rain (unless given a tarp). Just tossing palm fronds on the roof ain’t gonna get the job done. It would be interesting if some contestant in the future knew how to build a thatched roof.
