Lange, Utopia's dev, revealed to harassing Sonic Overture's devs for years until they all quit due to burnout and ptsd. Even LakeFeperd (Spark's creator) come forward to confirm everything (he was also one of Overture's dev).

Sonic Omens is a perfect example of why Sega should follow their own path rather than listening to the wrong Sonic fans that can easily affect the brand and Spider-Man lotus almost did the exact same thing with its drama behind the scenes controversy. I like the Sonic fan games for free on the internet exactly the way they are rather than Sega approving them or making money off them.

To me, the best thing about Omens are how expressive & lively the characters are animated in the cutscenes. (My personal favorite one is Shadow's entrance on the motorcycle with the multiple chaos spears attacking the Eggman robots) I need Sonic Team to put in effort in cutscenes. It's been waaaaaaay overdue

Sonic Omens, one the most controversial fangames next to Sonic Gather Battle. Mostly because of the devs doing shady, illegal shite, getting called out because of it and trying to deflect the accusations with about as much effort as a brick wall being hit by a pillow.

Sonic omens: ambition turned out into a game with lots and lots of problems like level designs and even voice acting Lotus: a really promising project that ended up in the shit zone thanks to the ones who made it or acted in it, some scenes dragging on and lots of inconsistances

I'm surprised you didn't touch more on the real reasons why Omens is a disliked fan game within the Sonic community: the bullying towards the english VAs; the creepy textures on Maria's model; the monetization of fan game (which could trigger Sega to act against fan content like Nintendo); stolen assets and code from other fan games; stolen music from Cars 2; and the game was made out of spite, because the devs don't like Sonic, but saw it as an easy way to get some money for their studio. Everything you said about the game itself is true. There's a lor od questionable design choices, the game is poorly optimized and barely tested. Even Eggman's VA rage quitted in the Maria's boss fight. The graphics aren't even that good, they just look fancy because of the lighting and bloom, which makes very hard to see chunks of the geometry. The people that like Sonic Omens are usually Sonic haters that unironically think this is the best 3D Sonic game of all time.

While I don't really agree with the last part because I can see why some people would like this game, You raise some very good points. The reason I didn't touch on more them was because I wanted this to be as unbiased as possible. All of these are very very good reasons to hate omens, and they absolutely should be taken into account when discussing this game, but I wanted to see if people were simply using all of that as ammo towards the game, and to ultimately show that no, Even without all of these things, Sonic Omens still fails to be a good fangame.

Second, could you provide proof of ChaosX not taking criticism for no reason. Third, If Sonic P-06 promotes piracy by simply existing, then Surely you must agree that the omens devs locking demos for money is a serious crime and could have ended Sega's leniency on fangames. If you think the keyboard controls are bad that's fine and it's your opinion and for the "stolen assets" from the official games, I don't know what you'd expect for a fan remake to do whereas Omens had no excuse. You can like omens, and I fully believe that most of it's developers are good people, but you just can't defend the actions of the bad ones.

The creepy textures on Maria's model is the only reason why I remember Omens. I never bothered to really get into it, I just happened to read about "that" on Omens's page on TV Tropes. I'm... not sure how to feel about this. :/

Although I don't agree with you on the argument Sonic Omens is the WORST fan game (but to be fair I am kinda biased cus I like it), I will say I am glad you actually gave the game a fair and honest review. Way to many creators gave objectively horrible hot takes or went along with bandwagon hate on this game. Thanks for being one of the few content creators that was actually fair to this game! the shaders and most of the textures were not made by the team, those were all packed-in with the Infinity Engine or on the web. the terraining and set design was original, though.

I think I know why I have an issue with this video. I praise the things I liked about the game in the video while also highlighting the things I didn't. I think the work done on the game is admirable yes. Ambitious? Definitely.
