Star Trek: The Animated Series has an even number of episodes (22), so you could easily pair them together in one reaction. I wouldn't recommend doing three at a time. First, the number of episodes isn't divisible by three. Second, the show is so episodic that you would probably get exhausted trying to take in more than two standalone stories at once, which wouldn't let you react fairly to the third.
@visionaryventures12

I think the number is actually 21. I remember collecting the vhs tapes and noting an error.

@@visionaryventures12 There are 22 TAS episodes (16 in Season 1, 6 in Season 2). However, there was no episode with production number #22012; the 22 episodes were numbered #22001 to #22023, and the VHS tapes numbered the episodes from 1 to 11 and 13 to 23. The numbers do not correspond to the episodes' release order (in which Alex and Josh will presumably watch them), and there was no "lost" Episode 12. Dan Hauser's website devoted to TAS compares the skipped number to a voided check in a checkbook.

I still haven't watched all of the animated series due to being allergic to animation frame rates that low. I'd normally steer anybody who isn't a diehard fan away from it, but honestly, this might be a good format to absorb it, with the guys joking about things that would otherwise be detractions.

@@stuffyouotterlistento1461 I've seen enough Saturday morning animation from the late 60s and early 70s to tolerate it. And unlike, say, Super Friends, the Trek series has good enough writing to make up for the stilted animation. I'm relieved that Filmation didn't add a talking pet, a magical imp, or a Wesley Crusher to make the show more appealing to young children.

In regards to Andor I'm actually with you. Even if the show is good, you're going to be one of 1000 channels reacting to it, and probably one of the smallest. It's not going to do anything to grow your channel, especially since you (and from what I'm getting your main audience here) are just burned out from Disney Star Wars right now. Your channel is doing really well on old shows and like you mentioned in the last video of this type, the fun of this channel is you guys going back in time and re-discovering gold nuggets of television or cinema that you are genuinely interested in and surprised by. That's what makes this channel great. Everybody and their aunt are reacting to the new stuff, and then people get mad at you if you don't do over the top reactions to things. You reacting to the man trap monster transformation or to Spock falling in love is way more fun, because you actually enjoy those moments and its a genuine surprise and you have your own opinions about those scenes and shows and how things were done back in those days. You learning about what was different about TV back then, what the limitations were and how they created something great despite that... that's part of what makes this special. So I vote for focusing on older stuff, stuff you can watch at your leisure and don't have to edit so it gets the first clicks, competing with 1000 other channels, because all that will do is make your channel less genuine about the fun and instead about competing with other channels about who reacts the craziest to the latest trending stuff. Nobody needs another channel like that. You're doing great at what you do. Obviously if there is a current show you genuinely want to feature, absolutely. But from my point of view there is zero need to feature a show just because it's trending or the current big thing. That market is saturated and boring anyway.

MASH is actually very good for an older comedy series, I think. I still find it entertaining, though it's definitely a bit dated in terms of feeling confined/restricted by the format of its time. Like, it fits within certain parameters that may feel a bit blase and over-trodden today. Then again, I feel similarly about Seinfeld (though admittedly to a lesser degree), and a lot of the sitcom genre in general, which tends to feel very "boxed in". One issue with MASH is that it's a bit too dopey/goofy at the beginning. It gets a bit more sophisticated as it goes on, and I'll take an intelligent, capable rival/antagonist like Charles Winchester over a one-dimensional, incompetent idiot like Frank Burns any day of the week. Given the episodic nature of the show, and the fact that it doesn't particularly seem like the target demographic for the Target Audience, it seems to me that the best way to cover it (if at all) would be to have fans of it hand choose a few good episodes for them to watch. If they're wowed by those, they could always choose to dive into the show as a whole, but I think it'd be a mistake to start out aiming to tackle the entire thing, and watching all the episodes chronologically.

Twilight Zone's "Night of the Meek" is an annual tradition for me on Christmas. The first time I showed it to my older, conservative sisters they looked at me like I was crazy at first but I noticed them getting teary eyed during it and they said it was a very pleasant surprise afterward. While not every episode is great, overall the original Twilight Zone was brilliant. Two similar series, Outer Limits and One Step Beyond, were similar and almost as good, and then there was the British version of Twilight Zone "Journey to the Unknown".

I think you guys would really like MASH, especially the later seasons. It's a comedy set in the Korean War at a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH). It's in full color and was a show that ran from 1972 to 1983 and the last episode is on record as being the most watched in TV history. It's VERY funny, but it also has a lot of drama. The show actually birthed the term "Dramedy" for being both a drama and comedy. Each spisode is 30 mins. Great show!!

I appreciated your explanation about why you don’t like the run time for the Star Trek TOS shows. Of course people immediately think you’re criticizing the show, but you made it clear that it’s more about the environment of being recorded for so long. That needs to be said more often because nobody on this side of the transmission is thinking about that. As you mentioned, we’re just sitting on our couch, watching you and enjoying it. I also picked up on the fact that Alex has to go to the restroom at some point. I think it would be fine if you just stop the video and let him go to the bathroom for three minutes! Something like that has to be distracting and a negative effect on the overall experience.

Also maybe improving the watch environment over time, once the patreon income rises. No reason to sit on uncomfy chairs when other reactors sit on a couch and relax. It obviously requires a more extensive camera setup etc to just do it in the living room and watch on a nice TV but eventually the finances should make that possible. We're still in the humble beginnings, I'm pretty sure in just a year from now, things will already have improved dramatically. I see this channel going places.

Credit for keeping my interest for over an hour. Not easy to do with just two guys talking. The only film that truly terrified me was The Exorcist. It pretty much inoculated me against other scary movies. The Shining disappointed me (sorry). I was a big Kubrick fan because I loved 2001: A Space Odyssey. I loved the book and the idea of Kubrick adapting King alone terrified me. Then I saw it and became more and more annoyed by the huge changes made to the book. I really didn't think it was that scary. I'm in good company since King didn't like it either. Best theater experience was The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. 70mm in a big theater filled with people who have been waiting since 1977. The theater seating was divided into a front half and back half. I was on the front row of the back half with ten feet between me and the next row of seats. When the Snow Speeders are flying across the terrain of Hoth, my stomach jumped. I really like She Hulk. It really captures John Byrne's run on the comic. Supposedly they plan a ton of guest appearances. Some characters never before seen in the MCU. You should watch the animated Trek series. It has many of the same writers and all of the original cast except Koenig. Just like any series, it's hit and miss. But the fact that they adapted a story (The Soft Weapon aka The Slaver Weapon) by Larry Niven (his Known Space stories were a high school obsession) is enough to recommend it. I never thought I'd ever see Niven's Kzinti outside the pages of the books. When I was a kid, I had an embarrassment of riches as far as favorite TV shows go. Star Trek, The Man from UNCLE, Wild Wild West, The Avengers (no, not those Avengers), I Spy, and a ton of great sitcoms. Saturday morning I had Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Frankenstein Jr., the Spider-Man series directed by Ralph Bakshi, Captain Scarlet (God, I loved that show). Have you decided on a 3000 subscribers movie? If not, I suggest 2001: A Space Odyssey. I saw in the theater when I was 12 and became obsessed. Saw it in the theater every time it was rereleased (13 times). Another suggestion is Colossus: The Forbin Project. It's a smart Sci Fi film that's actually better than the book it's based on. The original King Kong from 1933 might be a fun reaction. You should consider watching the original The Outer Limits. It's a smart Sci Fi anthology series. Harlan Ellison, who wrote City on the Edge of Forever, wrote two episodes. It was only two seasons, so it won't take too long (then again seasons were over 30 episodes back then). TNG is great (though it takes a couple of seasons to hit it's stride. A common problem for the post TOS series). DS9 is better. The last three seasons are insanely good.

If you want to see some of the inspiration for Star Trek, watch the 1963 series The Outer Limits. It's a bit like The Twilight Zone, but I think much better. Several actors from ST were on it, as well as other great actors. A designer of some of the aliens migrated to ST afterward. Also, Harlan Ellison, writer of 'City on the Edge of Forever', wrote two episodes, with 'Demon with a Glass Hand' considered a classic. Ellison even liked how Outer Limits treated his script, which was not the case with ST. The Outer Limits was only on for a season and a half. Whether you react to it or not, you should at least watch it. Keep doing what you're doing. :)

MASH started as an anti-war film in 1972 during the wind-down of the Vietnam war, and was set in Korea in a forward hospital during that war. It was brought back as a sitcom with mostly different cast, but they all had tremendous chemistry. It went about 8 seasons with changes in the major characters and they explored so many stories. They had stars on the show and they made stars of the actors. The show could literally have you laughing one minute and crying the next. It has been referenced all over in other shows. Another one you would probably like is Moonlighting, a sitcom about a detective agency from back in the 80's. It made Bruce Willis a star - of comedy! This show was smart and sophisticated and it knew it was a TV show so they let out all the stops on creativity. All the while solving cases and getting in serious danger from time to time. And again, if you are looking for chemistry it delivered. Enjoyed the bull session, like the ST content. Open to the other stuff too. LLAP!

It will be interesting to see how you relate to TNG because you have reacted so well the "the big THREE" in TOS. There is no big three in TNG. Picard is such a huge personality, with scads of experience working with a much younger crew and Data (being a Broadway actor) does a lot of scenery chewing as well. The cast is big and several seasons in when it reaches 8 or 9 regulars who each get their own episode to shine is when TNG is the best.

47.50 Hey, at least redshirts can hit what they're aiming at. :D ETA: Regarding the whole worship of those classic movies like Citizen Kane, the reason it doesn't do a whole lot for you is that everything in it is stuff you've seen before. Citizen Kane is amazing in a _historical_ context, but leaving that out, 1) it's not a pleasant story, 2) the protagonist is a complete a hole and the movie is all about what an a hole he is, 3) it's stuffed full of creative angles and lighting effects and innovative points-of-view, to the point where the story starts to seem beside the point. Citizen Kane is the origin point for all of that stuff, that's used for decades in all kinds of films. It was mind-blowing for its time (which is why it made Welles's career as a cinematic genius), but as a movie by itself, Kane can be hard to get into.

Your note about wishing TOS was a little bit shorter stuck out to me, because I'm the same. There are incredible stories in there, but with modern eyes it is hurt a bit by its pacing. It feels like it's somewhat a Roddenberry thing. He had a lot of input into Star Trek: The Motion Picture and the first season of TNG, and both have that slow, pondering quality a lot of the time. The other movies, and all the later seasons of TNG, handle their pacing terrifically though. Come Deep Space 9, I'm glad I watched it at a time I could binge it because otherwise I'd 100% be in a place of "It ended already?! I need more!".

She-Hulk is man bashing though. Outside of Bruce there were four guys in the pilot, the three at the bar and the guy in the office. Was even one portrayed as not a jerk? And during her speech about mansplaining, was she not in fact Hulksplaining all episode long to Bruce? And this doesn't mean I am sexist and hate women, which is the default reply sadly. People keep on saying the fans hate to see women, but the same fans who roll their eyes at Galadriel in the new Tolkien trailers love Eowyn and just spent 10 years loving Arya, Dany, Cersei, Sansa, and Brienne. And they love WW, and loved Ripley 40 yrs ago , and they loved Mrs Peel 60 years ago, and the notion if you don't like something you must be some kind of ist or phobe is just silly.

Realize there would be no Next Generation without the original Star Trek. What you guys don't seem to realize is that TOS was HUGELY popular in the 70s. People watched it like crazy in the reruns. It was the daily reruns that I think made Star Trek so popular. Spock was a huge part of making Star Trek huge too. Likely without Spock there wouldn't have been a TNG either. When I was a kid I had a Star Trek gold captain's shirt and a phaser. This was a common thing. I loved wearing my Star Trek shirt. (And I wouldn't have even have called myself a Trekkie at that young point in time of my childhood.) I think my younger brother had a blue Star Trek shirt and a toy phaser as well. We likely had toy communicators also. I grew up watching Star Trek in the 1970's way before there was even a thought of TNG or Star Trek movies. Even though the show was cancelled after 3 seasons it had a much bigger following than you can imagine. A friend of mine in high school (this was in the early 80s) would watch each episode over and over again. He influenced me to do the same thing. So I've likely seen each episode at least 5 times and my favorites many more times than that. Star Trek (was not called TOS back then because there was only one Star Trek) was also huge in populur culture at the time. So many mentions of it in TV shows and I suppose talk shows too. So yes, TNG was big but only because there was such a HUGE fanbase from the original series. Everyone knew about Star Trek and Mr. Spock and he was sometimes mistakenly called Dr. Spock. TOS was revolutionary and breakthrough in many ways. And it was the extreme popularity of Star Trek in pop culture which created the interest and therefore the huge budget to run such an expensive and high tech TV show as TNG. I had a different friend when I was younger who had a book with all of the technical drawings of the Enterprise ships. There was a huge market for everything related to Star Trek. And this was all before TNG. Just trying to give you some perspective because it seems you two are not aware of these things. Which is natural for your age. But I lived through it and Star Trek was a wide spread cultural phenomena. One more memory, there was one kid in school (I think it was 6th grade for me) who said he was going to skip school to see the first showing the first Star Trek movie. And he did just that and got in trouble for it because I think the teachers had heard of his plans. But this kid really loved Star Trek. For me Kirk and Spock are the best characters. Far better than most of the characters in TNG. Kirk or William Shatner was absolutley the most dynamic character in all of Star Trek in my opinion. Unfortunately the new shows after Enterprise really suck. They are so woke I will not watch them. Though already in Next Generation they were gradually heading toward this woke political agenda of their shows.

I am of course giving a plug for the fan-series Star Trek Continues that connects TOS right up to Star Trek: The Motion Picture in the series finale. There was also the proposed 1970's series "Star Trek Phase II" that never came to TV but which has had original scripts produced later in the other Star Trek Fan-Series: Star Trek: New Voyages. Phase II included the script "The Child" written by Jon Povil who came back to direct it for the fan-series, and "Kitumba" which was to be a television 2-parter in Phase II. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZOpZKuZebVsbqs

Hey guys, thanks for getting to my questions :) "Whatever This Is" is a perfect title. It's very, Target Audience. Mean that in the best way. I completely get how a full trilogy playthrough of massive RPGs is tough to find time for, would be a massive project, and might just not be as fun to put on the channel as it would be to just enjoy on your own privately. But if you ever find the opportunity to dive into Mass Effect games in particular, treat yourself. Mass Effect has one of the greatest sci-fi worlds ever built, in my opinion. I specifically recommend it as a perfect marriage of elements from both Star Wars and Star Trek. As for the horror genre, I too, love it. Personal favorites: The Exorcist. It will never not creep me out to the core (lingering effect of a religious upbringing).. I also love the Saw movies and think they're super underrated. The Shining and Doctor Sleep are excellent. Not gonna lie, I would totally watch/listen if you guys wanted to do some horror content every so often. Great video. The intro and outro were hilarious. Love the dry humor. Killing it

One thing I should mention, in case you were not aware, is that commercial breaks became longer over time. The 60's were before my time, but my understanding is that commercial breaks were much shorter then (only 1 minute and then back to the episode), and that is why you have 50 minute episodes. TOS episodes pretty much had to be 50 minutes due to the short length of the commercial breaks. By the time you get up to TNG, the episodes are 44 minutes each, because commercial breaks were longer by the late 1980's. As you go forward from there to DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise, the episodes shrink even further in length to make room for increasing numbers of commercials.

The only warning I'd give about TNG, which you'll gwt million times between now and then, so I don't really consider it a spoiler, is that they first 2 seasons were an absolute train-wreck. Except for the odd episode here and there, expect every show during those first 2 years to be as bad as anything you've seen in TOS, if not worse. I was watching the show during those years, and I genuinely consider us, the fans, as being the only reason it never got cancelled. The show was trash, we knew it was trash, but we kept watching anyway with the hope that it would eventually get better, which of course, it did. The overall quality takes off in S3 and goes for a good 3-4 seasons before any signs of dropping off.

I don't think that the first two seasons of TNG are quite as bad as their reputation, but they are very similar to the third season of TOS: an inferior version of TOS seasons 1-2 that does nothing to keep the franchise formula fresh. Starting with season 3, TNG stops trying to be the abandoned Star Trek Phase II and becomes its own show.

A major issue which will arise when you get to TAS is that Season 1 Episode 2, "Yesteryear", is more highly acclaimed and widely discussed than any other episode. It would probably be worthwhile for you to do a video devoted to "Yesteryear" alone, but that would be awkward if you're usually doing two episodes per video because there are 21 other episodes. Perhaps you could do the last episode reaction and a series wrap-up in the same video? It's too bad you can't react to the underappreciated 1980s revival of "The Twilight Zone", but I presume it isn't on Paramount Plus. For technical and financial reasons, it's not feasible to present it in high definition, and I believe it's only available on DVD, not Blu-ray or streaming.

You have to know that TV of the 60s and 70s were 48-min runtime with 12-min commercials/announcements. On top of that 24 or 26 episode seasons were normal. In the 90s, runtimes dropped to 42-min and 22 eps per season. Now, you might get ten 40-min episodes per season. This forces the new shows to be at top speed all the time with little room for a breather. I kinda prefer the time used for universe-building. While binging is fun, there is something to be said by watching a story unfold over almost 8 months. It's still better than waiting 3 years between the original SW movies and then waiting another almost 20 years for the second trilogy.

It's true, but I feel once the algorithm properly picks them up, this star Trek reaction will explode them into becoming a huge channel. There are sooo many Trek fans out there and nobody else is doing this kind of reaction. It's just a matter of one video getting picked up and recommended to Trek fans on a major scale and off it goes. ANd that usually happens when a channel is somewhere between 5k and 10k subs, so they're not that far away anymore. People will discover this, and with sooo much Trek content still to come, this will really become something special. Nobody else has done a first-watch reaction of all the Star Trek shows. Regarding the pee break. TOS and most of the other Star Trek shows still had ad breaks, which are pretty obvious... music swells up.. fade to black... that's where the ad breaks were. That's an idea place to edit your video and actually take a pee break, stretch your legs a bit and come back to it. every show has 2 of those I think, so you can easily make yourselves a bit more comfortable. When these shows originally aired, there were two breaks where people could get some snacks or go pee. Originally nobody watched these in one go, so why should you? Take the break if you need it. Regarding TNG -> Enterprise... I'm not sure you're aware of this, but.. when TNG started, all the way to the last episode of Enterprise, this was basically the golden era of Star Trek.. there was no time in this era where there was no Star Trek on television. The shows partially overlapped and one started when the other began. There was always Star Trek on TV in that time. That began with the first episode of TNG and ended with the last Episode of Enterprise. So once you enter that era, it's really something special
@LeutnantJoker
@LeutnantJoker 2 жыл бұрын
You'll definitely enjoy TNG once you get there. The first two seasons are a BIT weaker on average, but once season 3 hits it becomes the best Star Trek there is. Watching the shows in release order will actually be interesting. DS9 basically starts in parallel to I think season 5 of TNG, so they ran in parallel with the occasional crossover. Then TNG ended and some of the TNG movies were in parallel with the DS9 show.. and then Voyager started in parallel with season 5 or so of DS9. Enterprise is a prequel show that played before Kirk's era about the early times of Humans in space, where the warp drive was still the new hotness. It's a pretty good show I think. It didn't get as much love back then, but especially the last season was amazing IMO, also it's pretty much the last show of good old trek. They're all worth watching and all bring something new to the table. TNG is the best classic trek has to offer, but DS9 also explores some more deep moral issues, gets a bit darker sometimes, has a much bigger cast with more aliens and more cultural exploration and really fantastic stories, and also features the best friendship between two people in all of Star Trek. They are all wonderful shows and I can't wait for you to get to them :) Once you get into the crossover parts, you probably should watch one ep TNG, then one ep DS9 per week, because as i said, at a certain point they ran in parallel. The TOS movies are also absolutely great. Some a bit weaker, Star Trek V being probably the contender for the worst one, but even that one has absolutely fantastic character moments and I think of all the TOS movies, even though the main plot isn't that great, that one focuses the most on the relationship between the big three, and that alone makes it great for me.

The Animated Series was good as it allowed them to do quite a few things that either weren't possible in live action at the time or the tech was too much in its early days to make it look good. Just one word of warning: the animator for the series was slightly colour blind, so there are some odd colour choices. For a long time Roddenberry did not count the Animated Series as canon, largely to do with issues around licensing rights but also (allegedly) a habit of not regarding any episode as not canon if it didn't turn out how he wanted it to. It's largely regarded as canon now for several reasons: some of the things that were once specific to it have since reappeared in canon films/series, CBS (who now own the rights) have said it's canon, and also some of the episodes (especially Yesteryear) really resonated with fans.

I'm happy that you've watched some older movies because it means that you might be amenable to watching some on your channel, which frankly, is probably the only thing I'd return for, other than "Star Trek." In fact, if your channel were not so exclusively recent material, I'd probably subscribe. "Citizen Kane" isn't the most entertaining movie, but when it came out it was an encyclopedia of cinematic technique. I'd rate "Casablanca" as "okay." Its one noteworthy aspect is Bogart's performance. However, 99% of history's greatest movies came out before "Star Wars."

Thanks Josh - I've never had a term to describe why I think TOS is better than the other SciFi shows - "smart". I know Josh has seen a lot of the Twilight Zone but I would personally love to see you guys review at least a few of the episodes. As an aside - I think It would be hilarious to see you guys review something like I Love Lucy.

If I were to vote about Star Trek, I'd skip the Animated series. Perhaps view the movies up to Undiscovered Country. Then to TNG (and fair warning, TNG is real stiff and hokey before it finds its legs.) And even though it's so far away, I'd hope you'd get to Deep Space 9, I think you guys would love it. Slightly different flavor, but it's got the best characters and villians.

I think it's worth watching everything. The animated show is quick to get through. Trust me I can't wait for them to reach DS9, especially since that show arguably has the best character stories of all the Star Trek shows, but I also don't want to rush them, and would love for them to make the whole journey through how Star Trek evolved until it hit its peak at DS9 season 5 probably. But even Enterprise was still pretty good (aside from that horrible horrible last episode... still a tragedy that that travesty was the last ever classic trek episode)

The Animated Series is not canon. TNG has its moments, but it takes a few seasons to "find its feet" AKA pay off Roddenberry so he stops deliberately sabotaging the show in order to extract more money from the production. Once he gets paid off the show improves dramatically. TNG is fun to watch in high-def as you can see how the whole set is held together with dry wall screws in all the future space control panels. If you want to watch something retro/smart try the German made Space Patrol Orion (available on KZbin) which was a contemporary of the original runs of Trek and Doctor Who

Actually I think TAS is now canon. Cause Lower Decks is canon and they mention “The Infinite Vulcan” in an episode as well as including Lt. Ajax’s species in an episode. In the second episode of Season 2, they even show the remains of the Infinite Vulcan. They also show pictures of the animated series referring to Kirk during the Cerritos mission to Beta 3. So I guess it is canon now.

When it comes to TOS the Animates series I would recommend just doing a sample of episodes, like maybe 5. Yesteryear, More Trouble more Tribbles, Mudd's Passion are all ones I think you would appreciate as they connect back to the live action series. I'm sure a sample of a select number of episodes could be determined by a pole though. I'm just not sure you need to do all of them because while the Animated series has its own kinda charm, and has a few gems, overall there is some drop in quality in story telling IMO; besides I am looking forward to you getting to the movies. By the way, thanks for doing such thoughtful and enjoyable videos. Peace.

Who's fire for SW hasn't dimmed after all the crap they put out. Mandalorian gave people some hope but then the other shows were a massive dumpster fire again. And even Mando i season 2 was basically just a camo fest and a spinoff spawning show. The plot itself wasn't all that interesting.

@@LeutnantJoker Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe it's b/c I come more from a Trek background so I... dunno, guess coming at it from a different angle? But, I've enjoyed most of the new series with some exceptions, the worst of which I'd call... unspectacular. The movies, with the exception of RO, TFA - with a caveat - and, oddly Solo, I have not cared for at all. They seemingly introduced new characters I got excited about, but then just went absolutely nowhere. Finn? Nowhere. Po, eh. Phasma? Nowhere. Knights of Ren? Nowhere. And Palpatine shows up... *from* nowhere. Ok, maybe I get what you guys are saying 😂 I think the series have been good to 'eh'. Nothing quite anger inducing like the last couple of SW movies for me, anyway.

For me peak Trek is TNG seasons 3-7 and DS9 seasons 3-7. The first two seasons of both are rough but once they get going they're really good. Looking forward to you guys eventually getting around to those. The new shows/movies from 2009 on aren't really Trek in my personal opinion.
@LeutnantJoker
@LeutnantJoker 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say seasons 3-5 for both. the last seasons on both were starting to wind down a bit. I think season 5 is best for both. But yes, both of those shows were absolutely Trek at its peak. Golden age of Trek. TNG was more the classical trek with star fleet crew and DS9 explored more aliens, bigger cast and more character driven stuff. Really a great time. And yes, everything after Enterprise isn't Star Trek (arguably even the last Enterprise episode was pretty bad already :D )
@frankb3347
@frankb3347 2 жыл бұрын
@@LeutnantJoker Sure but seasons 6 and 7 of both were still far superior to season 1 and 2 of either. I feel that even Voyager wasn't that great but it was alright so I include it in the classic 90s Trek trifecta. Enterprise was a good idea but the execution was not good. The cast didn't have any chemistry together. That said I'm still disappointed they didn't get a chance to cover the Romulan War.
