Alastair Campbell considers the effect of adversity upon achievement and reveals that it was his own experience of depression and breakdown that taught him most about the true meaning of success.
Alastair Campbell is a writer, communicator and strategist best known for his role as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s spokesman, press secretary and director of communications and strategy. He has written eleven books including six volumes of diaries, three novels, a personal memoir on depression and the pursuit of happiness, and most recently ‘Winners and How They Succeed’, a best-selling analysis of what it takes to win in politics, business and sport. In recent years he has become increasingly involved with mental health charities and causes and in 2009 he received the Mind Champion of the Year award in recognition of his work to break down the stigma around mental illness.

Dogging Champion - Oh ffs not you as well!! How many of you idiots do I need to tell??? Everything was investigated and both he and Tony were cleared of any wrongdoing which means they were INNOCENT! And if you’re still unconvinced that they were right to enter Iraq, go and watch what Christopher Hitchens said about it! It’s on KZbin!

The worst things that happen to you can be good for you. It's happened to me, at the time it wasn't nice. Like a cut that wouldn't heal but eventually it did and I look back now and can see it was good for me.

He's quite right to say that. Tony Blair's government significantly improved the country and achieved many good things. His premiership is unfairly overshadowed by the Iraq war. But Blair was a great PM

@@hecateswolf6007 it certainly was.the war on terror but nothing less than essential and they helped remove one of the worst perpetrators of genocide in history. And no, they didnt crash the economy. The economic crash was always going to happen, both here and in the US, because of the behaviour of the major banking institutions which varuous western governments had been allowing for decades. New Labour were exactly what we needed, a true centrist political party that brought us policies from left and right of the spectrum. Many of Tony Blairs policies were a huge benefit to this country
