I had a roommate who was a carnivore. She would drink mugs of melted bacon fat with butter in them instead of coffee or tea. She would also leave gigantic black poops cemented (not exaggerating) to the toilet bowl several times a day. And she smelled bad ALL THE TIME

@@BrickTop1 LDL is not a good predictor of all cause mortality or health at all. But in the actual results in the control experiments that we have, high LDL is associated with lower mortality. But as I said looking at LDL alone shouldn't be the full picture. Looking at her HDL to triglyceride ratio is a way better way of assessing health. And from hers, it looks amazing. The whole cholesterol is bad myth mainly comes from a man named Ancel Keys. He was a disgustingly awful doctor and scientist that almost singlehandedly ruined health for most of the world. He actually conducted a huge study to show how bad saturated fat is and cholesterol is bad. But after the study completely destroyed his argument, he decided to have his name wiped from the paper, and not publish results for over 15 years in order to try to hide it from the public. The story around the history of the modern views of cholesterol is actually really interesting yet might make your blood boil. Dr Paul Mason has a few lectures on the topic of your interested.

@@BrickTop1 No. Too much LDL will not guarantee a heart attack. Most coronary events in the past few years will show that many patients in fact DO NOT have a high LDL. There are tons of other factors like oxidative stress from glycation and polyunsaturated fats. That is directly shown to result in increases in arterial plaque. Please show me the evidence or explain to me why too much LDL will cause a heart attack. Like I said the best evidence and actual research like the Minnesota coronary study support my point.

My stepmother and father were both carnivores and forced me too do it with them. The rule at their house was that I had to finish my food before I could leave the table. They didn’t let me eat vegetables or fruit the entire time I visited. Every meal I had to eat an entire steak with a raw egg yolk on top. More likely she is just swinging from diet to diet as nutritional deficiencies come up. The body absolutely craves fat. Combine that with the fact that a lot of vegans aren't getting the nutrients they need, it isn't surprising that she might have some problems after some time and she looked to carnivore diet as a fix. I really think what diet works is almost exclusively down to genetics. Some people probably can thrive on a vegan diet, some can probably thrive on a carnivore diet, lots of people won't thrive on either.

My family has a long history of heart disease as well. Seeing her numbers are shocking. When my young adult mother had her cholesterol checked for the first time, her primary sent her across the street to the cardiovascular center immediately. My mother's cholesterol was 400+. My aunt, my mom's sister, was recommended to see the same doctor, and they found out hers was even worse at 500+. The doctors were baffled at how either of them were able to walk and be alive in front of them. This tiktoker's not far from 400. If this story puts into perspective for you, My mother had a heart attack at 27 years old. Before my aunt became 30 she had a quadruple bypass where they split her ribcage open to preform surgery. High cholesterol will kill you, it is just a matter of time.

@kaydenl6836 pardon? My grandmother, their mother, also died of a heart attack due to insanely high cholesterol. It runs in the family. My family will be genetically predisposed to having very high cholesterol. It's a trend. That is why I get my blood checked annually to make sure my cholesterol stays within acceptable levels. I don't understand how it's not due to cholesterol, lol. The heart attack wouldn't have happened if their cholesterol was within healthy ranges. It's probably the same case for those with too little cholesterol that you're mentioning. That's why it's called 'low' cholesterol and not 'average'.

Your family probably has familial hypercholesterolemia. It's a genetic disease that causes elevated cholesterol regardless of diet, and causes heart disease. This lady has the lean mass hyper-responder phenotype. She has elevated cholesterol when doing endurance exercise while on a low-carb diet, and not without the exercise and diet. It's not associated with increased heart disease as far as anyone can tell so far.

The ketosis was what did me in while on the carnivore diet. I’ve lost the ability to menstruate or reproduce as well. Also got a ton of gastrointestinal irritation from having virtually no fiber and slow moving fats. This is also why I hate the keto diet. It’s literally named after the health complication it causes and ppl try to market being in keyosis like it’s a good thing even tho it makes your organs like your heart and kidneys work harder and harder until they become diseased themselves.

Humans are primarily herbivorous. They are able to thrive while eating both meat and plants, or plants alone. But you cannot thrive off of meat alone, especially if you're only eating one or two types of meat. Variety is important in any diet. If someone is going to eat exclusively meat and butter, I'd hope they'd at least eat a wide range of different meats.

@@uniquenewyork3325 Yeah.. I've no clue why some people associate meat with being more primal or animalistic. There's so many herbivorous and omnivorous animals out there. In particular, primates are quite often highly herbivorous animals, so you'd think they'd associate a high plant diet with being more primal (which would actually be accurate, as our ancestors were even more herbivorous than us.) But nope, they think the natural diet is a carnivorous one... it makes no sense. The natural human diet is mostly tough, fibrous roots, nuts, leaves, and various meats. Berries and other sweet fruits would also be pretty common depending on the season and the region. And unfortunately for tiktok carnivores, most of the meat the average caveman would get, would probably be small animals like insects... Which actually do taste good, but I bet a tiktok carnivore wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

Fr. But I'd say it's mostly food intolerances and not neccessarily allergies. Those can be incredibly sneaky and hard to discover on your own, but perfectly capable of making you miserable. For a personal example, I'm intolerant to milk protein and sunflower oil. Those two are in everything - literally. Stuff you'd think has nothing to do with them contains them. Even if I somehow avoided them by instinct I'd still encounter them without having the slightest idea. I was just miserable all the time and I stood no chance to figure out why. Eventually I was recommended to take a blood test specifically for food intolerances. And when I did, my values for those two were several times what's normal, despite me not having had them recently. I started to avoid them and read labels - and what do you know, my quality of life changed drastically for the better. Had I just followed some extreme diet that restricts me to only eating meat or vegetables (no butter / margarine), I probably would've felt better compared to how I felt before, yep. Those usually don't contain milk protein and sunflower oil (unless fried). But that wouldn't be a testimony to how healthy that diet is, it's a testimony to maths.

My stomach and intestines are just inflamed massively. No ulcers. Nothing out of the ordinary except inflammation. There's not really a medicine for that. Sure they tried Proton Pump Inhibitors and other medicines, but none of it worked. What I discovered thanks to carnivore is that my IBS is actually caused by a variety of food sensitivities. Basically, I'm sensitive to almost everything I ate my whole life. All that processed garbage: maltodextrin, sucralose, aspartame, annatto, red color XXX, and more. You might ask "Why not just cut those things out and eat plant based?" Well, unfortunately I have more health issues than IBS. My back pain, shoulder pain, and mental health issues require I be in Ketosis to get relief. Once I cut out most carbs, and most processed garbage I'm basically left with carnivore. I can have about 25 grams of carbs a day or else I break my ketosis. For reference that's about a cup of rice, its about 100 calories worth of carbs. I've got to fill in the rest of my 2400 calories from somewhere. Am I gambling with my life? Sure, maybe. There's been quite a bit of promising research so far, and personally I have gotten my CAC scores taken once every year. Still no clogs. I choose to be pain free and mentally healthy for however many years this diet gives to me. I would quit it tomorrow if someone had a miracle cure for my ailments.
