I see where you're coming from, as a lot of these things are more "big city" attractions rather than specific to London. However, for people who haven't travelled much, London might be the first/only really big city they've been to, and it's exciting to go to something as insane as M&M's world, because it's so different from where you come from. I don't think every kind of traveller goes places to experience the "way of the locals", but they want to see the sights they've heard about and experience a big city, tacky touristy things included.

I'm inclined to add another; avoid rush hour, especially on the tube, especially Victoria underground station, the Northern line, Central line. If you can, avoid it all, especially in heat waves .

Whitin the city centre, I would likely walk. I walked from St Pancras to Piccadilly Circus, to Trafalgar Square, even to Hyde Park. You're on holiday, you don't *have* to rush anywhere. And it isn't raining as often as people think it does. It'll save you quite a penny as well, TfL isn't exactly cheap.

I certainly agree with you on Madame Tussauds, it is a waste of time. There are lots of wonderful museums, such as the John Soane Museum. At one time it didn't get many visitors at all. It is still free. Yes, free.
@Mc1988-p1i6 жыл бұрын
I love London for their free museums! Always something to do which is crazy because if they were charging people I wouldn’t go as history isn’t a huge interest of mine but by just going to the free ones, it has def introduced me to the idea of learning more and actually seeking more museums! I would however avoid pollocks toy museum - it was great and I think we paid less than £10 but it was the creepiest experience ever haha
@tarrynlea6 жыл бұрын
Disagree. It is definitely overpriced but if you're going to splash out on some touristy things, you could do a lot worse. I really love the train ride there that takes you through the history of London. It's really well done. Not a fan of the Chamber of Horrors though, London Dungeons much better if you're into that sort of thing.

I'm told that there are over 120 species of fish in the tidal Thames because the river is now relatively clean. There are lots of fry in the river. Hence, the London Aquarium might have lots of fish to show relating to London. But the truth is, I wouldn't know what is in the aquarium, because I (being a local) , of course, have never been in there.Nor have I ever eaten in the Angus Steak House. I've walked past it lots of times, but I've never been tempted to go in.
@GFSLombardo6 жыл бұрын
Sometimes people go to an aquarium because they want to go to an aquarium. There is a large aquarium in NYC and New Yorkers actually do go there as part of their "NYC EXPERIENCE". I think that many people who live in large cities tend to take their local "attractions" for granted assuming "they will always be there" or they are "just for the tourists". Yet once they do travel away from home they are eager to see "everything". Go figure...
@timothyluscombe18765 жыл бұрын
I am a local Londoner but even I enjoy the aquarium it’s just a nice and fun place to go for a day out, so I don’t agree with your view on the aquarium

The Aquarium!! Totally disagree, I grew up in London and going there was definitely part of the "London Experience"! Haha. As a Londoner we would visit the city centre like many tourists and see many of the tacky attractions. Central London is a different world to parts around the centre. Yes, of course, there are much better things to do but its not to say a "Londoner" hasn't or wouldn't also go to these attractions.

Just came back from a trip to London :P Madame Tussauds was by far the worst thing i have ever seen. It was so full, a woman started a fight with me about taking a picture with a wax figure :D It all started with her pushing me for having no space! Also there was such a long wait... it was so not worth the 25 euros i paid. Way too stressfull!

Totally agree with the point on Oxford Street. We just moved to the UK from South East Asia, and Oxford Street reminded me, a 100%, of Orchard Road in Singapore. Definitely not the London experience I was looking for! But yeah, the small streets next to it leading to West End is amazing.

The thing about some of the ones you mentioned (was museum, Ripleys, M&M world) is they're not unique to London. They're all over the world. I wasn't impressed by the aquarium either but isn't the purpose of an aquarium to see things that AREN'T from the area?

Haha I 100% agree with all of this! I’ve never understood M&M world or the point of it! I feel the same about tourists and Harrods, I work opposite at the army barracks in Knightsbridge so walking around at lunch and seeing the amount of people who specifically go to harrods to buy something tiny just to say they’ve been is crazy! Lol its a very expensive carrier bag to own haha

iam afraid i dont agree with a lot of your choices. its all upto individual choice. you may not like shopping in oxford street but in fact majority of tourists love going there. in fact it is THE busiest shopping street in the whole of europe, and the longest street. and that is reason enough for tourists to go there, just to see what its about.

Brilliant vid and I loved how passionate you were about rip-off London. I actually vowed to unsubscribe if you didn't mention Oxford Street - phew!!!. If one's out shopping the only reason to go to Oxford Street is to leave it to visit Liberty - which really should be a subject of one of your videos. You are right about Aberdeen Steakhouse (They used to have loads of branches and I actually took a girl from Hamburg on a date to one in about 1981) but wrong about Flat Iron. If you want the best grilled/roast meat in London go to either The Jugged Hare by the Barbican or Mac & Wild near Fitzroy Sq. If you go to the latter then have their venison chateaubriand and come back and tell me if it's not the best roast meat you've had in your lifetime ;)

I wonder why you have said nothing about Tower of London, I think from all what I have visit in London that place was my worst experience. First of all, they didn't want to apply my discount from booking.com promo code (everywhere else was perfectly fine), you can see almost everything what is inside yard from outside, to many people wondering around and nothing to show, until you get to see the crown you will get some sort of boring pink walls, insane price for everything I have just said and many more to be said but I will stop here. P.S: Some sort of alarm took off while waiting to see that crown and they evacuate all of us hahah. Awesome video!
