They mangaka will be like “ this is Sarah, she is the top scoring member of this prestigious combat academy and is a prodigy excelling in every aspect” and she’ll have her own goals and ambitions, only to be reduced to a side character who’s only goal in life is to find a husband/ wife and settle down.

It’s annoying cuz the only thing they want is to show a girl get molested or naked. How do we do it without compromising the character and story?? Well we make it an accident! That way we can include shitty slapstick where a man gets “justifiably” beat up and a woman gets to be exposed or touched against her will! Win win! It sucks. Firstly I don’t see why we need fan service like that, especially with an unconsenting person, and I abhor slapstick. Maybe it’s different for ppl who like slapstick. Maybe they include the joke cus they know it doesn’t work that way irl (if a woman is molested on a train and physically fights back against her attacker, she can get arrested).

One thing I hate is overpowered abilities. I don't mean abilities that can be overpowered if used right, I mean powerful abilities that are just meant to be powerful, like an Immovable object or an unstoppable force. It's just much more cool to see people fight with normal powers, or weird powers that if used right, are very powerful.

This is honestly one of my biggest gripes with Aizen tbh. Aizen is a cool as hell villain and character, but I HATE how Kyokasuigetsu is literally a deus ex machina that lets him do whatever he wants, especially when he’s already a top tier in the verse. Its like giving Mike Tyson brass knuckles and throwing him in a ring with a dozen unarmed 8 year olds in a fight to the death. And the worst part about this is whenever you bring that up you basically get attacked by his fanbase. Aizen is well written himself, but his Zanpakuto is basically the ability to alter the plot in a way it makes sense. Total hypnosis, which is basically Tsukuyomi on steroids with NONE of the downsides, and even if you see it being cast you can’t defend against it unless you’re touching the actual blade, which obviously Aizen isnt going to let most folks do. Its so hilariously busted that it becomes blatantly obvious that Kubo had to write Aizen in a way that his arrogance is the only thing stopping him from using his greatest advantage in the fight with Ichigo. Granted Kubo did find a way to incorporate that into the story, but his shikai is unapologetically broken. And don’t even get me started on the Soul King empowered Almighty…

To this day I don’t understand why people continue to suck off bakugo, he literally contributed NOTHING to the show for so long cause the issue with this trope so that it only works if the person can be a normal human being outside of their angry fits to balance it out but he can’t even do that. He’s just eternally yelling and screeching. There’s no emphasis or quieter moments or build up, it’s just this constant volume scream. And by the time they finally made him start talking normally more I more or less relegated MHA into just watching clips and fights anyway and ignored the stuff outside of that.

Like, tsunderes are just cold and hostile in conversation because they want to deny feelings. They aren't supposed to actually start beating the person they like. That's not a tsundere, that's just an abusive person. This problem mostly stems from how popular the trope is, to the point that the meaning is diluted.

The generic face MC is honestly such a big problem. Why? Because you lose memorability. Unless if that MC is very well written (?) or have done something outrageous (Like Anos Voldigoad), I wouldn’t remember jack shit about them. What happened to the memorable shapes design that older animes used to have? Like, I haven’t watched Toriko, know nothing about Toriko except for his name. But I can vividly remember what he looked like. Other examples are: Saint Seiya, Joe Yabuki, Hyakkimaru from Dororo (Though I have watched this one), the big 3, and many 2000’s animes. But now, I can mistake one black haired generic MC for another and only separate them by their clothing! Where’s the variety!

I'm the same way with Toriko😂. Never watched the anime but I can recognize him. In past anime you could differentiate Yusuke Urameshi from Spike Spiegel and Vash the Stampede from Kenshin Himura. All distnct from hair to facial features to clothing. Also helps they all weren't in the same kind of universe/timeline/era/setting which I feel plays a part in this.

I got 3 tropes i hate so much: 1. When the MC gets his own heram But genuinely acts Nervous around them, And often runs away from them. 2 when a character has a girl that has feelings for him, but he Doesn't notice them, Or doesn't pick up the Obvious signs that they have feelings for him 3. When a character Doesn't use there strongest moves In the start of the fight, They have to take their time before using the strongest move.

The first one is legit Second one is legit The third one can be done right, like if the enemy might adapt or tank it and then their strongest move is basically useless, so they wait for the right opening to land it, or it's a limited use/high consumption move that can't be thrown out carelessly or it's too destructive. Example is Excaliblast, shit would level islands at full power but Saber can't just yeet one out because she would pretty much kill everyone.

If we start diverting from the main character, the main character might even become a side character, the conflict will be resolved and you would only be left with a sliver of story with no character development, plot development or meaningful conflict. When all the bad guys are the strongest, people complain, if all the good guys were the strongest, there would be no conflict, and no story. What matters is how the creator handles it.

I want a trope where MC does not have a tragic past but someone who wants to become the best and being able to understand others pain despite never experience it

I'm doing the opposite. I'm making an MC who has a tragic past but who doesn't give a shit about sympathy and rarely empathizes with other ls based on their experiences unless they hit extremely close to home (he's the type of guy who'd say cry me a river). He's also not caught up in the tragedy and isn't constantly depressed in the way you would expect someone like Sasuke to be, he acts more like a normal teenager with really no motivations. He had revengr motives, but the unique thing is the first arc basically serves as a final arc in any revenge story where he realizes he would do too much damage getting revenge and he actually thinks about his actions and impulses when he gets friends that don't just, die. The journey is actually kinda complex and it's hard to put it down but he basically becomes more empathetic and self-aware, finding a purpose while the story keeps edging him to go for the revenge route.

Trust me when I say, this trope sucks ASSSSSS. I've seen it on multiple characters and it always turns out cringy, awful and makes no sense. The most notable example I know of is touma from a certain magical index. Dude pretty much seduces every girl he meets by accident and goes "damn I'm so unlucky man wow" just cause he spilled his drink or some petty thing. Like, a girl literally asks you out on a date, how stupid And dense do you have to be to fumble the bag???? And when he starts doing his whole rants I manage to predict it immediately that's i just skip most of the scene. Like, a villain told him science couldn't save her little brother so she hates it. His entire argument was pretty much an over glorified "would he want you to do this tho?". Then he punches the villain, and they magically never decide to do another evil deed. Wow.

The over powered master is a very old archetype because it shows why the world hasn't already fallen apart before the new up a coming characters arrived. I especially liked that Gojo knew he shouldn't and couldn't carry it all on his back which was why he was scouting top tier talent that could reach his level. Like you said something has to go wrong to change the status quo for the cast to pick up the slack but it is how this part of the trope gets handled that determines whether it was all good or bad.

My least favourite troupe is the MC's love interest has no personality nor character development. Their purpose of existing is just to be the love interest. The worse subtroupe of this is when a female supporting character who has a good background conflict, has her own goals, has her own aspiration suddenly chosen to be the love interest of the MC. Thus suddenly all of her character development are thrown to the thrash can by the writer for the sake of being 'the MC's love interest'. Sometimes i feel as if the MC is getting the highlight for no reason, This especially stood out to me in *Black Clover* where Asta is often hyped and awaited by others. #3 *Bringing back old characters just for the sake of it* You see this trope so often in anime, movies and other entertainment mediums, You wont even take notice of this but to explain this in short... Bringing old enemies, rivals, friends, etc without a solid reason just shows the limit of the author character handling. when it came to yamamoto, he was either too cocky or his rage blinded him, in the aizen fight, I believe he woulda absolutely whopped aizen, that's why aizen took heavy measures to suppress his zanpakuto, he was outsmarted & outplayed, and in the tybw, he was enraged cuz his closest friend had just been killed, so the fight between him & yhwach was personal, and yhwach exploited that weakness in yama & used it against him, he stole his bankai & once that happened yama knew he couldn't do anything else anymore

Also its the simple fact he was outsmarted multiple times his whole fascade of "I'll sacrifice my people." Basically disappeared with his arm as he got closer to his people and lost one of the people closest to him. Yammaoto lost cause of his rage and he lost against aizen cause he was smarter than him and he was in no position to use bankai, if he even did in the first place he'll risk the hog adapting. Yhwach also outsmarted him he had one of the twins copy his memories & appearance and made his spiritual presence similar to him. Also butterfly & above AIZEN is Stronger then Yammaoto even using bankai. Plus its the simple fact people seem to forget. He wasn't tryna risk the human world just to beat aizen.

Why do people always say this? It wasn't the fact that he was enraged that he lost. The guy replicated Yhwach's appearance and most of his power. So he's essentially identical to the real Yhwach. But he wouldn't know the full potential of Yhwach because the last time he fought him was a thousand years ago. So him not being angry wouldn't make a difference. Yamamoto couldn't do anything. He already used his bankai on a replica, and his bankai was stolen by the real one.

I hate when the far more experienced villain loses to the new hero after a small training arc. No way in hell you are beating this grandmaster after a two year time skip. The prodigy hero is just bullshit plot armor. Like a prodigy can be written well, but having them actually struggle and not just steamroll every fight or at least give them consequences they overlook or just killing people all the time like Kenshin. But a character that just steamrolls people with hundreds of years of experience via pure skill is just stupid. Ichigo *would* be an example of this, but he's the exception because he's a transcendant being who also knew swordsmanship prior to the events of Bleach and was literally MADE to be that op by Aizen just so he could evolve.

@@ellingtonf1097 The craziest thing about this is that certain parts of the fanbase DUNK on Hitsugaya when he’s actually a well written prodigy; he has flaws, and this is why I don’t think comparing him to Gin is fair, because Gin has had 110 years to iron out all his flaws and sharpen his skills, whereas Toshiro was thrown into the fire immediately after becoming a captain. He has one of the most powerful swords in the series, and on paper he has high stats and is incredibly talented, but the kid has NO experience, and is physically, spiritually and mentally immature and grows as the series goes on. He doesnt win every encounter simply because he’s a prodigy since he usually gets edged out by more experienced fighters who are a level or two ahead of him, only for parts of the fanbase to go “ he sucks”. But then if he did win every single encounter those same fans would just cry that he’s a mary sue.

But Kensei and Rose’s treatment was the absolute worse. They got worfed the hardest in the series imo. @@RoyalTfrii I actually had a decent idea of how we could have saved the Vizard’s reputation. First I wouldve had Berenice fight Rose. Berenice’s The Question and its ability to inflict self doubt wouldve been great against Rose’s abilities which are also auditory. And since Rose is a musician, chances are that he’s experienced an art block before where he doubted his talent. It wouldve been symbolic for him to struggle with this but eventually overcome it, AND we couldve seen what Prometheus actually did. Kenny didnt really need that W. And I wouldve still had Toshiro beat Cang, but after Cang was revived by Vollstandig, I wouldve had him try to exact revenge on the incapacitated Toshiro, only for Kensei to step in. The Iron vs Iron Fist Tachikaze. We havent had a good hand to hand fight in the series in ages, it’d be perfect. Also, Kensei and Rose winning against two quincies wouldve given them a solid ground to stand on and a LEGIT REASON to be overconfident against Mask. This would make them being taken by surprise way more realistic. And as for Shinji, I wouldve had him use his bankai on Gigi, Zombietta and Zombie Toshiro, save Toshiro’s rep by having him decimate the Quincy girls, and then have Mayuri step in when Toshiro eventually turned his sights back to Shinji. And now we managed to save all three Vizard captains reputations while simultaneously giving Toshiro and Mayuri the respects they deserved.

What I find the worst about the black-haired kirito-clone bland mcs is that not even real japanese teenagers are like that. I mean, even they do get some cool haircuts from time to time. That's why when a MC has a different haircut, I immediately like him more. Damn, just give them a bit of personality through their hair, just like they do with the anime girls. We suspect the twintails is girly or tsundere, the hime-cut one is an ojou-tipe whom speaks smoothly or is some creepy mofo, the girl with the short,wavy hair is usually bubbly and the best friend and will never be with the MC because fu ck you reader, the bland girl will get the MC instead. They don't even need some Yu-Go-Oh hair, just give some new cuts for MCs like Geto's or Mikey's or Eren's. Tying their hair behind, or letting it grow over the eye, or make the hair wavier, or give them a fade, show how they don't care about people's expectiations, or are a mess of a character, or are very uptight and by-the-rules, or that they are trying to look tough or whatever... just don't make them bland!

The craziest thing about this too is that the first arc of shippuden had Sakura literally at the peak of her character imo. She proves herself to be a strong tactical kunoichi with brains and brawn, being skilled in all aspects and capable of standing on her own two feet. If they kept her development steady from that point on she’d easily be one of my favorite characters. But then they did a complete 180 and turned her right back into the whiny little girl clamoring for Sasuke and needing to be saved all the time again. It was a damn shame. She didn’t see this kind of development again until the war arc.

And since she is a delicate person, it rubbed people the wrong way about her character. But if you watch her before and after, she is pretty decent. She is basically the war doctor in Ichigo's party, helping and healing. She was never a fighter and helped in other ways. But her reputation got destroyed during the Arrancar arc.

One thing I like about tropes is when it is cliche but still pulled off so well to the point I don't care. Yamamoto is a great example of that. Sanji, and One Piece in general, kind of has subtle subversion of tropes while still maintaining them. Sanji is young, suave, handsome, strong, well dressed, sincerely caring of women to the point of a fault, but he is over the top uncontrollably lustfull towards them, something that back in the day was more an old man shtick. Luffy and Zoro are classic straight man and fool mc's but have no rivalry like you'd see in other shounnen. One Piece has a lot of themes of friendship, but its never "the power of friendship" that saves the day. These kinds of subversive shounnen characters and story telling is nothing special now a days, but just 10 years ago+ One Piece was pretty unique for little things like this.

But he IS pathetic, and that's the problem. Outside of his "power-up" he's an annoying, loud and obnoxious guy who harass women and contributes pretty much nothing to the story except being the comedic "cowardly funny" character gag. I would argue that whenever he gets stronger when he's unconscious actually makes him a worser character since it shows lazy writing. Zenitsu is pretty much a wasted potential just like the majority of the other characters in the series.

The generic isekai protagonist design is so bland that they would be a background extra in almost any other genre, but it would be a lot less noticeable if all those animes didn't such similar art-styles. If you had to describr Kirito and Lelouchin text they would have similarities, but because _Code Geass_ and _SAO_ have such different art-styles you would never mistake one from the other, but too many isekai have that almost moe art-style that really makes their protagonist look all the same

Real shit. Yamamoto might not be the top dog in the series, but he's definitely not too far behind Ichigo and Aizen. Yama's bankai is so strong it can literally evaporate anything with ease. And lets not forget the fact his reiatsu gaps everyone in the series except for like four characters, which means he most likely can completely cancel out anyones attack according to Bleach logic. I think History Strongest Disciple Kenichi was on to something with the strongest trope. Miu's grandfather was considered a 'superman' in the martial arts world due to his age wisdom and skill. They didnt use him much but to actually have him fight he had to fight a 'superman' on the villain side.

He's supposed to be the deconstruction of the "perfect" protagionist because his life even with the money, strength, and power is a nightmare. He's smart, but his enemies are smarter, he's strong, but his enemies are stronger, and his judgment isn't the smartest either with his decisions being either impulsive or sacrificial. He also is conflicted with his status because he's not used to it and no one understands him because they think he's "larger than life" but at the same time he's too traumatized and paranoid to seek help since he's afraid the world hates him for his status and despizes him based on his status when he was born at the lowest points of humanity's history. The reveal of his backstory is supposed to be a trip because it's ultimately a turning point, or a social experiment to see how people would react to it, since it's so overly tragic that almost no one understands the pain, but there are bits that make it feel relatable and echo real life, also the reveal that he isn't the only one who suffered that much too, and that he was among many others that lived the same past breaks him and it's what makes his development complex since he wants to break free from revenge, yet the world keeps pushing him to pursue it.

My no1 most HATED trope is the "MC builds a harem for literally NO reason" Like, most of the time this guy committed a total of ZERO seconds to getting a girlfriend and somehow "that one bad girl he met across the streets" just so HAPPENS to be the one he ends up with. Even worse when they hit you with the "And she also attends the same class in the same school" trope. At that point, you've basically covered 90% of the anime. The other girls he meets? The trope i hate the most is the: "The MC/ all chara has to lose there power at the end of the story"-trope. I hate it, when a show use superpowers and the characters are training and increasing this powers. Only, to be forced to let go of that power at the end, to reach the goal. Or, to simply lose the power, after the problem is solved. Like, in Power ranger, pretty cure (and i think a lot of other magical girl shows), more or less all Digimon seasons (except S2, but thas is actually ruined with the tri movies and Kizuna -have not seen the newest movie yet-), Magi, Full metal alchemist, and more (i know that happens often, but i dont remember more names of shows yet). It feels allways like betraying from the world, when the charas obtaining power at the start, only, to lose that at the end of the show. And are back to the state, of the start of the show. Where is the reward for the charas of most in that cases? I think, i remember only 2 times, where i was ok with it, when the charas losed the power (like Edward from alchemist, who sacrefice his power, to bring his brother back, what i dislike is, that the movies shows, that he had to travel tio a magicless world after that). Or where i thinked, that it would be a fitting end of the story from a chara (someone who has suffered mostly, because of his power, and who should have losed it at the end, i only forgot, what chara and show that was).
