lmao thanks for doing my replay the reason i tped top because i thought the sand king has a stun and I thought we could get a double kill. I didn't realize until after the gank that he didn't take it lol. I thought slark was to blame and my sand king, but it turns out I abandoned my slark too early and was overly aggressive and zoning out the dark willow that didn't threaten my carry at all.

Hi it’s the SF here. Great analysis by Z and one takeaway for sure is that I don’t have nearly enough experience reading games on playing from behind which I would attribute to being the main reason for losing my cool. Everything Z pointed out about potentially winnable fights and respawn timers are absolutely valid, and it is incredibly valuable to learn. I would argue that becoming frustrated and tilted into oblivion is easy when you have no “idea” on how to win a game given the state of it, but of course, I appreciate that I should always keep a level head and wait for the enemy to make their own mistakes potentially. Either way, thank you Z

Hey Z, I’m the SF here. Really interesting to see your take on my submission and to be honest, you are 100% right that it was not the winters curse that lost the game, but rather how I let it affect my play & read on the game thereafter. Up until that point (bot t2 fight) I remember communicating to the team constantly when to fight and when to dodge, and for the most part the team followed my calls. Being able get that requiem&coil combo off with puck with my bkb timing was the best validation I could get about my “read” on the game, and then my confidence lasted for about 2 seconds until the Wyvern ult came in 😂 from that point on, my moves became slower, my calls and decisions were off, I just never recovered. Great analysis to point out specific things I did or didn’t do, and great point about the base defence with storm dead and no scythe & puck respawn. One way or another I did not have that read, but sure as will not make the same mistake again. Thanks Z!

Curious! I’m a new dota player, I haven’t unlocked ranked games yet. Are you open to reviewing gameplay pre-ranked? Or is it beneficial to practice in bot matches / unranked pubs until ranked is unlocked?
@ZQuixotix2 жыл бұрын
Gameplay pre-ranked is fine with me, though that might be better for my Wednesday streams when I do replay reviews for viewers. I think if you're still pretty new, it's more about improving yourself rather than comparing yourself to your team. You can do bots to practice for unranked, but you definitely want a good amount of unranked games before doing any ranked

Hi sorry, as a relatively new player, can you explain why the wyvern ult was so terrible? I know enemies under effect of curse don't take damage from teammates, but I see SF ult landed *before* wyvern hit her ult. Couldn't team have focused on the Clockwerk or something instead while curse was happening? Winter's Curse at same time as Duel is unfortunate, but is just a case of people hitting R at the same time. What should the WW have done instead, with the information she had?
@SiMstar152 жыл бұрын
In my opinion WW should have waited at least until duel ends and bkb from SF runs out. SF was not able to do anything during his bkb. He couldn't do any damage to the storm spirit during that time. In my opinion WW shouldn't have ulted at all in this situation. SF ult into duel into puck ult is enough to get a good fight. WW should have waited until the fight gets out of control, because you can hurt your teammates really really bad when they are committing so many resources in this tiny area. WW do not need to start fights with ult when your team has puck ult, duel and SF ult. I wouldn't even go into attack range as WW. He does not do any right click damage. stay behind. Use Q to change positions in cliff range to be safe and wait. Hit all enemies with your Q once.... you don't need to commit your spells all at once when it is not needed. And WW ult was not needed.
@skittering2 жыл бұрын
@@SiMstar15 thanks, yes that makes a lot of sense. I think a lot of new players instincts (including mine) is to press R when things get exciting, I was confused why Zac thought it was so obvious but you're definitely right. (This is why I don't play heroes like wyvern that require actual thought)
@SiMstar152 жыл бұрын
@@skittering :D I feel that. I think when Lifestealer presses Q, WW has to ult, because when Lifestealer is immune he is immortal and that needs to be interrupted. This team has no other spell to deal with lifestealer in such a situation... instead of right clicking :D
@ZQuixotix2 жыл бұрын
Oops, you're totally right, I really did gloss over why that wasn't a good WW ult. Apple Bee Hunter did a good job of explaining it, but if you look back at the clip, Storm Spirit and Necrophos are both affected by Coil and Requiem. This means they'll probably snap the coil as they run from the fear. Assuming they aren't dead yet, there's then an AOE Centaur Stomp to chain stuff further. I don't even think Duel is necessary, the enemy team does not have save abilities, so both Necro and Storm Spirit should die. From my point of view, those two heroes are 100% dead without using any other spell. That means you can then use Duel/Winter's Curse to look for more kills. In this clip, when WW used ult, Lifestealer wasn't in range to hurt his own teammates so it pretty much saved both Storm and Necro for 4.5 seconds. Coil and Requiem were already used, so Curse can't even act as an initiation for those to follow up (though Centaur follows up in this case, but he has a low CD spell, whereas the other 2 committed their big ults and BKB). WW ult happens to be a particularly tricky ult because it prevents your team from doing damage to the enemy (I typically wouldn't recommend WW to new players because of this). Most other abilities/ults are safe to throw out in team fights as a new player. Of course, eventually you'll get a feel for when it's actually necessary to commit spells or when you can save them to use later.

I don’t think his rank really matters man. Like, whether he’s a high rank or a low rank, he’s still right so it shouldn’t matter in the end. Any experienced player watching this video could tell if he was low rank based on how he talked about the game and what was going on fairly easily, so long as he’s right/portraying experience driven information it shouldn’t matter at all.
@zokirxudoyberganov59642 жыл бұрын
There were mistakes Slark did too which you did not mention. Firstly, his item build. He is playing against spell slammer hero. He should have bought magic wand/stick. It would give him extra mana and hp restoration to be able to stay in lane. Secondly, when Dawnbreaker tped top, he could have pulled himself. It was obvious there was no way for him to approach creeps with low hp. Then why not cleaning stacked wave, rather than watch creeps being denied in lane?

i know that sf shouldn't have grieved, but that curse was by far the worst i've ever seen. i can understand him griefing coz when you see a play that bad, it's usually the case that they're gonna play bad throughout the game anyway, so you're gonna put your trust in those bad players and end up losing anyway. or at least that's my experience, and why i can understand his griefing.

Isn't it better to let them end quickly and play next game to win than to let the current game stall for another 15-20 min and not winning.
@PopnLochNessMonster2 жыл бұрын
I despise this mentality. There's always something you can do to try to make the game state better. Did you not listen to what Z was saying at the end? Game is not over until the ancient falls.
@ZQuixotix2 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on your mentality. If a game is truly over (teammates breaking items, giving up, etc.), then sure. My personally philosophy from an MMR gaining standpoint is that it always saves time in the long run to try to win every game. Let's say you win this game, it's +30. If you lose, -30. That means to get back to +30, you'd have to win 2 games. So to me, taking an extra 10 minutes to try to win tough games could save me ~2 hours. From an improving process, I don't care so much about MMR as I care about improving as a player. So even when games look bad, I like to try new things. Cut creep waves and extend as long as I can. Practice defending when massively behind. Try whacky items or crazy plays. I may not win THIS particular game, but I think it offers me a chance to try new things which might help me win future games (plus this game is supposedly a loss anyways, so I'm not losing MMR trying new things).
