The Worst University Halls I've Seen So Far.... | The University Of Sheffield

Continuing on my journey of exploring all the UKs universities i wound up at The University of Sheffield. I explore the student accommodation and see the smallest kitchen ever! This kitchen is meant to be used by 18 people!! You could barely fit 2 people in the kitchen! the rooms were nice and big but hard to make homly. I mean the halls i stayed in ie my friends university halls and accommodation were not the best ones to select. however, the university of Sheffield does have nicer accommodation in other parts/blocks. Stephenson is the worst representative of Sheffield ever ahahaha, the normal ones in Endcliffe have won best uni accommodation loooooads - Stephenson is usually a last resort for clearing people and for some Erasmus students

What? I thought Sheffield has the best accommodation! You haven't seen the good ones. Their accommodation is so new and modern and much better than the other universities I've seen like Bristol.

I lived at Stephenson Hall in 1966-67 and don't think we had any kitchens, because all the meals were provided in the dining hall. Isn't that still the case? They did nice profiteroles. The rooms were spacious, and there were occasional wine and cheese evenings.There was also a television room where students watched Magic Roundabout and The Forsyte Saga on the three? available TV channels. We didn't have personal computers or iPhones in those days, though I think there was a coin-operated telephone in the main building.

Rehan Abid if your not already at Sheffield or havnt made your accommodation choice I would chose Endcliffe village and either froggat, yarncliffe, derwent or howden.

Right the reason his kitchen is so tiny is because thats for catered accomodation. The other blocks have much larger kitchens , but they dont have a card topped up for you to buy food its all your own.. They dont give you much of a kitchen because they expect youre going out and buying your food not cooking it yourself

I went to the University of Sheffield. I stayed in self-catering, ensuite accommodation and I have to admit it was much better than this. However the University seems to be packing as many students into this accommodation as possible (think money) with no regard for comfort.

For the Gods sake, you make me scared of those stuffy British universities. Considering how afraid I'm by the looks of them and perhaps how unwelcoming they look, I'm starting to experience an indescribable bifurcation that something extremely voguish is coming on my way. And this bloody British accents? In some parts of Britain people sound they do not even speak English. Usually it is like I'm listening to someone with danish or harsh Scottish accent.

@@AdoptedPoo The coronavirus deliberately decided to manifest its existence in our everyday lives, delaying my future prospectives for admission to British university. However, I do not consider my viewpoint on the question of the diverse British accents as relevant disgust of mine anymore but I still contemplate most the universities in the kingdom as "stuffy". And in my personal experience "stuffy universities" usually leads to conservative departments, and conservative departments are probably not the most robust choice for the well-being of international students. As an Bulgarian I have the right to attend Bulgarian university with the gratifying costs only 150$ per semester which makes me question whether it is more advantageous for me to pay 26000 pounds for an overglorified university in Britain. I am aware of the fact that Bulgarian universities are "detrimental", to say the least, (and surprisingly "staffy"). Anyways, I got an offer from the University of Sheffield and Bristol for "economics and philosophy" and by intentionally disregarding Bristol and its world ranking I may choose Sheffield (even thought its stuffy). I think that I successfully explained my viewpoint and I feel personally distressed because of the discomfort caused by my grammatical inaccuracy in my comment 9 months ago. Greetings.
