I expected something much more hideous, not that I would punish my wrist with this, but I have seen much worse visually from a brand starting with "In" and ending on "a". The wobbly stem and non-hacking 8215 are worse IMO than the design choices here.

So the reason I tend to say GA2100 instead of "Casioak" is that I think the G-Shocks look nicer than the APs. Or the Ali Express knockoffs of APs. To each their own, I guess.

Correct. The offshore wasn’t his design, it was following the Royal Oak design but he was appalled by it. However, there are plenty of agents designs that are indeed really ugly (to me) he made some hideous designs back in the days too. Some were genius though.

Honestly, while the color doesn't work for me, the look of the watch isn't terrible. But the overall craftsmanship looks like if faceplanted. Not even hacking? And that stem wobble is ridiculous.

Genta hated the Offshore, and he didn´t design it either. "As the father of the Royal Oak, legendary designer and watchmaker Gerald Genta was not all to pleased when Emmanuel Gueit adapted its original design with larger and exaggerated proportions - in Genta’s mind it was like turning a Porsche into a Hummer. Genta publicly criticised the Offshore, blasting Audemars Piguet for, in his mind, using the Royal Oak name to push forth a design that had none of the essence or finesse of his original"

Starking released 1 high beat watch (which didn’t work in most watches) and then pretty much everything that they’ve released since has reverted back to the miyota 8 series, and the old one at that. Some one must have motor-boated over from China to Japan and back in the dead of night and whilst in Japan gone through all of Miyota’s wheelie bins…

Ok, it’s one for bigger lads, but it doesn’t look much worse than an actual Offshore Royal Oak and at least doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Everybody and their dog now has very fond memories of the SKX, fitted with a 7S26 movement with crappy precision. How does this Miyota movement compare with the entry level Seiko ?

I love a good roast. I bought the Starking you reviewed years ago. One of my very early Ali buys. I really liked the watch. The jn-house movement died, I think about 6 months later. I have steered clear of Starking since. Looks like I made the right choice. Ali duds are part of the whole budget collecting experience. LOL. The Starking carcass sits in the plastic bag of shame. For some reason I don’t throw dead watches away.

Its actually not too bad. Theres a market for affordable divers with internal bezels. Sand gets into standard bezels and causes problems

For someone who is okay with a “cheronometer,” calling it the worst watch is really saying something. And you didn’t even get to the lume… The funny thing is, I actually kind of like it! The execution is awful as you state but the basics of the design aren’t that bad. Obviously I’m a unicorn… cheers!

This sort of design makes me think that they have shares in metals production, with a little tiny watchface in the middle of enormmous case and thick, non-functional bezel, almost like the designer went "Oops, almost forgot it's supposed to be a wristwatch."

I’m not a Royal Oak guy in general. I don’t like yellow. That said, that’s not the most hideous thing I’ve ever seen. It’s not pretending to be Swiss… so the worst thing I can say is that I wouldn’t wear it but, if my hommies wanted to, I wouldn’t hate on them.

I'm sure you have already given it away. I like it fine for $35. I made my first Aliexpress purchase a couple of months ago and was sorely disappointed. I can't even wear it for it's ugliness. I ordered a Gold PRX homage. The bracelet and case Gold tones are different colors and the bracelet and case brushing are obviously much different grain. Because it's an integrated bracelet I can't even but it on a leather strap.
