@@KMBrown-ro7dh It makes me feel better not being the only one, because I used to get so much such for having panic attacks at a Chuck E Cheese when I was little! 😭 My friends and family never understood "what the big deal was", but just pull up an old home video of a CEC visit that was uploaded to KZbin, or those old maintenance videos from like the 90s of the old animatronics, and you understood it! The old animatronics from the 90s that were run-down and would twitch and shake because certain parts needed to be replaced was just anxiety-inducing! Hell, when they *did* work, before they updated the tech that they used and still relied on numatic actuators, they would still have jerky movements which made them more unsettling!! And if you saw them powered down and not running, their eyes would be barely opened but they all had that creepy vacant look like Tussad's wax figures! Ugh!! It makes my skin crawl thinking about it! I have a hard time even being around Halloween masks in a Party City or Spirit Halloween store, because I'm afraid something is going to jump out at me! 🤣 I can admit the silliness of the fear-- I mean they're not called _irrational fears_ for nothing, but it still deeply upsets me! I even recently discovered a newly invented fear called "Submechanophobia" which Reddit (as much of a cesspool _that_ place is) defines as "A fear of submerged/underwater animatronics" that some people consider being caused by a combination of Thalassophobia (Fear of the ocean) and Automatonophobia (Fear of animatronics, or any synthetic thing that is attempting to replicate living people but still having that disconnect because the synthetic "thing" is not real, with dread/anxiety caused by the imitation growing depending on its Uncanny Valley factor), and it shot pretty high up on my "Thanks, I Hate It" list. (Although from what I've seen, I would consider Submechanophobia to just be Automatonophobia, as the "being submerged in water" aspect seems tertiary to the creepy animatronics themselves.)
