One of my books had a sticker on it saying 50 shades of tutor. Yes it was set in the tutor era but it was nothing like 50 shades of grey. I couldn't read it anywhere except my room as I felt really self conscious (I was 16 at the time) cause I didn't want to explain that i wasn't reading something like 50 shades of grey at all.

I hate it when they try to make book covers look unnecessarily sexy. Like, if there is a romance novel with lots of sex in it, it makes sense to have half naked people on the cover. But otherwise, it looks like a cheap sales move.

I think it's because the series is entirely about looks (or, rather, the society the series is about is entirely about looks)? Like, the person on the front isn't even necessarily the MC. It could just be a representation of the themes of the series.

I picked up this highly reviewed book from the library to find that it had a horribly cheesy romance novel cover. I actually redrew a cover of my own and taped it to the front while it was in my possession. I left my cover on when I returned to see if the library would keep it on. To my surprise, I checked up on it a few weeks later to see my cover still there with a note that said "thank you for fixing that terrible atrocity". I kinda want to do that again :)

This isn't a YA book, but I think it's so hilarious in title and cover. The full title on Amazon is Someone to Cuttle (Gay Cuttlefish Shapeshifter Erotica). Hahahahaha 😂😂 And the cover is just a shirtless dude and a cuttlefish. Like, if you ever want to be entertained for hours just browse through shapeshifter erotica titles on Amazon. Because the covers are always ridiculous and the titles are full of puns. My friends and I have killed so much time doing this.

Kathryn-Rose Grant I never finished the series, but I've heard the plot is amazing around the last ten books or so. Either way, I tend to be as, if not more, interested in the fictional universe than the plot. Hence why Avatar is still one of my favorite movies, despite being a re-hashed Pocahontas.

The first time I saw the American covers for the Gone series by Michael Grant, I actually could not believe how awful they were. The UK ones are SO much nicer! ***** The old UK PJO covers used a combo of cheap Photoshop and bad CG images that made the covers look very unappealing and very ugly, and even the Kane Chronicles UK covers look just as bad too and even the Heroes of Olympus covers (except for Blood of Olympus, that cover was not so bad). Nowadays, with Magnus Chase, Trials of Apollo and the new PJO covers, the covers don't look so bad. If you want to see for yourself, go check on Google.

Ah I LOVED the Fire and Flood series. I'm a sucker for adventures/survival kind of things. They've actually got a new cover for the first one too that has an eye on it surrounded by a ring of Fire. Not horrible, but I definitely agree that by the second book the cover had lost its charm.

I got a copy of Unspoken from my public library a couple years ago, and I think it was an improvement on the one you had to suffer. It was a silhouette of the girl (if I remember correctly) and just a single color so much easier on the eyes.

Loved the old Pendragon covers, a nice window into what the protagonist looks like and how he grew through the series and it help me picture him and how like time worked and everything.... New covers? Random objects from each book in a different colour... Same kind of goes to the Gone series, but in the reverse. I mean i enjoyed seeing the characters on the original, but the new ones, which are just scenes from the book, give it a lot of charm and mystery.

The Lux cover change is a tragedy. Thankfully, they re-released the final book with a cover more like the originals, which was nice. Also, YES to the Maximum Ride covers. That series has had at least 3 cover changes, all terrible. The original 3 covers were great. Once book 4 came out, it was downhill.

The covers forthe Swedish translations of Vampire Cademy are really nice. They are very simplistic and come in different, fun colors! That's basically why I got the translation instead of the original English ones

I never liked the Delirium series cover. The only reason I picked up the book was that the summary sounded interesting.

I work in a book store, and something I really hate at the moment is this trend of having solid matte colour on the outside of the pages. It's looks nice if it's gold, like on some of the hardback classics you can get, but they make these books now where the cover is completely red, and then the outside of the pages are completely red too and you have this book that is just red all over (no pun intended) and it looks absolutely hideous.

I have the Vampire Academy books with Nine Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley featured covers and they are better to look at than those original creepy covers!😅

the "House of Night" books had horrible covers aswell. Also the Slammed bools by Colleen Hoover. I would also like to add the Hex Hall books, the covenant series and the others series.
