aldiboronti Glad you liked it, and thanks for the props! Whenever I see it again, I still squirm at watching that scene. The part where I start to convulse and my head goes into the wound was done in one take. The director and crew said they were biting their tongues to keep from laughing while I spazzed and stuffed my head into the prosthetic around Annie's body (played by my wife, Arianna Ortiz.) I was totally winded, and the director, David Garrett, said, "We got it! Let's move on." In spite of the intensity of it, it was a really fun shoot.

Ivan's death really made me cry. It's remarkable, how this short made me feel for him while character deaths in horror movies often don't even make me flinch. Most of the time these characters feel so flat but with this short I felt like watching real, nice people getting into a horrible situation. The film team did great.

I’m rereading your comment and appreciating it. The writer/director David is really gifted at grounding his characters and making them individual, real, and not just stock types (which for me is often why I dgaf about horror movie deaths.) He wrote things really strongly but also really let us bring our ideas and choices; it was a really collaborative process! After Ivan had his accident, I didn't know whether to laugh or be horrified. It was as if she was a marsupial with her eating pouch. Great acting, things ran smoothly together and this one was eerie, weird and funny all at once.

The corpse she found was Ivan's. Remember when she tried and get shots of the wound with her camera flash and she noticed the flash imitated outside somewhere(probably where Ivan's corpse was) whatever came in contact with the wound, it somehow got teleported.

Exactly my take on it. Of course the items go though a food processor on their way judging by the teeth she photographed in there. I'm assuming the water spray at the end was maybe the arrival spot was under high tide and that was supposed to be back flow from the other end. A two way connection. Now if you put a basket under that spot and visited say a bank or jewelry store you'd make a great thief.

x'D Well it's not really that much of a creep move, usually wounds that are infected give off a certain smell. So sniffing the bandage could just be his way of making sure there's no stench. Because if there is then that would mean a possible infection is developing etc. x'D But usually this is not done, but since this seems to be in a countryside setting, I'm assuming that it's not that weird to do things that way I suppose x"D

we almost didn't watch the entire movie, because when Ivan begins to get close the second time, thoughts of perviness or unreal gore invaded. But we were rewarded richly for our perseverence! We loved this, but have a few questions, namely the lightening imitating her camera flashes? and WHERE exactly did the wound come FROM???? Being from RI I stuck it out till the end expecting to see something familiar. Liked the fact they had the ending at the beginning. Great editing and special effects. Left me with the urge to see a part 2 and to update my medical coverage. No quahogs, no clam cakes, clam chowdah, coffee milk or cabinet innuendos? Interesting. I'm thinking the "wound" is somehow tied to the sea (lightning). Also, nice comedic relief. I've done theater, but never film. I would have had to leave the set when Ivan... well... no spoilers. I liked the lobster pillow too. Lots multi-layered image reference in the "wound" and the lobster / how she was holding it. Looks like you wrote quite a few subtleties in there. Nice job guys.

Well now, Annie should be considering filing a serious law suit against the doctor that operated on her. ;) People comment about the wound being parasitic or demon like. It seemed more alien to me, maybe a bacteria or "parasite" from another planet that was in the atmosphere and got into Annie's wound and continued to grow there. Guessing while Annie 'slept', the alien/parasitic life form caused her to sleepwalk and maybe make a snack of anyone hanging out at the beach; I guess. LOL! Nonetheless; great special effects. Poor Ernie!
