This short was nicely done, I'm fairly certain little or no budget was afforded for this, which makes me consider previous comments comparing it to the Blair Witch Project, which did have a budget hilarious. Sure, there were a couple instances of obvious filming methods that perhaps felt a little intentional and could possibly take the viewer out of the suspension of disbelief momentarily because it may not have felt natural within the rest of the film. At any rate, it doesn't matter what minor flaws I spotted, the fact that it was a student film, with probably no production crew other than yourself, as mentioned in the description, makes the short all the more respectable. I personally thought it was amazing!

I feel that any short that is 'low-budget' and 'student' is going to open itself up to a level of ridiculously harsh criticism, some people opting to close their minds to the cinematographic and directional talent on display. 15 minutes at this budget is an awful lot of work, a remarkable achievement in itself. The atmosphere achieved and sharp (subtle) edits were the high points for me. Oh, and I'd love to know how you managed that 'fluttering' focus effect on those blue-bells.
@ellen39319 жыл бұрын
Many people are hating on this. Just remember: this is a *STUDENT* made film. It wasn't made by some top producer. If you consider who made this and the equipment available to them, it really was very well done. I loved it! :)

First things first: I really liked the short. Good acting, nice style, hit the tonality of horror and the Slenderman looked great, but there are a also few things I didn't like. Some camera movements and cuts were not motivated and could have left out, your first AC needs a little bit more practice, but who doesn´t. What I got from the text the Slenderman is more a "psychological killer", getting you from peripheral sight. You should have played that more instead of putting him right in front of his victims face several times. That's it. Hope you keep up the good work and can understand my perspective.

What I like about this is that it simple, no jump scares, actually builds up the tension for fear instead of using cheap jump scares, seems pretty realistic in how someone would act in a situation like this instead of saying "hello" when hearing a noise. There was no falling over air. I like how the visual aesthetics told the story rather than dialogue, Also it was simple. The music and vibe was calm but yet somehow made it more scary. It focuses more on the plot rather than 30 minutes of nonsense. Also it's student film which is great

Instead of walking at an extremely slow pace through the woods, why didn't he jog along the road to get to the station on time? At this point I wanted to shake some sense into him. Like many horror shorts, this one is too dark, has far too many landscape shots as filler, cuts to black multiple times, uses the camera and music cues to build false tension and ends with a scary face jump scare at the end. This one had Slenderman in it though.

rvdsm too dark? the darker the better. Also i love the landscape shots, adds to the movie.

rvdsm I often find that establishing shots are very effective in short films. What exactly do you mean by "false tension"? It's clear that the director used angles and music very well to create suspense. I think it dragged on a bit, but then again, we don't know what criteria he had to fit for the project.
@xXxSM0EKWE3DxXx9 жыл бұрын
+disturbed i think by false tension, he means creating tension that doesnt actually lead to anything. you know, the classic scary music building up to only an animal running across the screen scene. anyway, this is a great short film imo

Very creepy and unsettling-in a good way! Camera shots were on a professional level and special effects were great. The locations were mesmerizing, both beautiful and creepy at the same time. Our protagonist finding out that Slender Man drives people insane, then noticing him in all those photographs, was very disturbing. But the best part was that it all seemed so convincing and realistic. Keep up the good work.

This is pretty good. I actually liked it (even though i dont like horror films or short ones) id give a couple of points to this one.

Still, to this day, the only very good/great piece of work done on the Slender Man. Well done!

Joking aside, I resolute to follow the channel. It’s only a few horror but with HQ, well-executed, good lines, good acting... I’m very impressed especially coz it gives the impression of being a independent channel. Well-done. It’s a slender man theme but you guys titled “ victim”..., very uncommon and absorbing

It's not perfect, but you did it and it made me jump a few times! Most people do a lot worse with more money. Hire a good editor in the future and you're on to something!
