Main Promo #3 for me -- that's my wheelhouse. Growing up watching cartoons, 70s shows in syndication, and Yankee baseball. And yes, it does tug on the heart strings -- amazing how it does.

Wow I LOVE this!! Suddenly I am back home and its 1977 once again! So simple, so NYC, SO 1970S!! so many YANKEE games and movies were watched on WPIX 11 during those times. I love the simplicity of these old television ads and thats what makes them special! Nothing complicated. You got to love YOU-TUBE for that! What a GREAT memory and how I remember those days gone by.....................Thanks for posting my friend! 11 ALIVE!!.............

This brought back memories. When I was a college student commuting from home, my end-of-evening routine was to watch the repeats of "The Honeymooners" at 11 and "Burns and Allen" at 11.30, and then to bed. I'd usually catch the last few minutes of the news (10.00), and frequently saw a commercial with Version 1 or 1A. It does have a very late-'60s sort of uplift, while Version 2, with its dark sax, is more firmly '70s.

I'm curious as to whether or not the PIX Archives still hold their 1949 test pattern design with the white "pinholes" within the centers of the vertical and horizontal wedges, that ran well into the mid-to-late 1970's - and is as much an institution as all the shows and personalities the station spotlighted over its history - and all the elements like these that came together as they did.

As you mostly post stuff that WPIX-related, I wonder if you'll happen to have Non-Stop Music's "WPIX Custom News Package" including cuts from the 1998 update? Since Matt Jackson will want that one!

2:00 - Edit point 'in' for the endpage. For YEARS.... Hated the arrangement/bad studio recording and vocal mix that was too loud. Even now hearing it as 'master quality' - it's more glaring! 4:16 - This track also, heard for YEARS... copped a chord change heard in the ABC at the Movies teaser theme... where's Travolta doing his dance?
@garycitro16743 жыл бұрын
Funny! I am here to comment that the last two chords at the end of this video (maybe in a different key) are the intro cadence chords for "The Simpsons!"
