Oh man I love these! I’ve gotta pick up some pattern wire and a cheap rolling mill.

You could hammer texture, etch, use stamps or even use an electric engraver to pattern. Some even hammer (leather or plastic mallet) texture plates into annealed metal. I have never tried that though. I would imagine that the plates sustain some damage. Maybe hammer on a stack of newspaper/magazines or use urethane underneath? You can also purchase silver, brass, aluminum and copper pre-patterned plates and cut them up. FDJ Tools and Cool Tools carry them. In my video, coming out tomorrow at 6:00 am PST: The Patterned Link Chain, I have links in the video description to some of these things. Hope this helps! They are fun to make!!!!!! Thanks. N

Nancy, you are HILARIOUS. Your commentary on your own work flow alone is worth the watch. “Ahh no i gotta solder there don’t do that!!” was my personal favorite. Quite relatable. Thanks for rejoining us here on youtube!

When jewelry making becomes predictable and easy, I'm outta here! Haha. Thanks Cherie! BTW, I have four other videos that have come out in the past month. Flush Settings 3 Ways is a 3 part series on Flush Setting, in case you haven't seen it yet! That link is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHzKgGakqbmops0. I also have a new video on using an oxygen concentrator that came out last week: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6nVfGqVgddqg7M. Thanks again! N

Glad to see you're back and OK. You cheered me up no end. And you're the nearest I'll get to Jewellery School. Never change, Nancy. These rings are beautiful, especially with the caged cabochon. See you soon.

I don't think you can ever have too many rings. I have heaps because I am always taking them off and losing them . I hope you find your lost ring soon, that looked so cool.

Fun project 🥰 one question , could maybe steel wire be used instead of copper to avoid soldering the binding wire? Thanks

Hi Nancy Love the simplicity of these rings. Can’t wait to have a go. Do you keep your liver of sulphuring the crock pot? How long does it last?

Thanks Nancy. We are all talking to ourselves in our studios right now. Sometimes not so nicely. :) This style ring has been on the list to do for about 3 years. Is there any reason why I wouldn't use my PP ring bender since I've invested so much money in it?????

I wish I had remembered to use mine! Two ring videos recently and forgot in both! Go for it. It makes forming so much easier!

@@NancyHamiltonJewelry Its helpful when you, other instructors, show us how to manipulate the metal without the fancy tools.

I really like to watch your videos. Can you tell me where to buy the patterned wire? I live in Sweden so I can't find it here.
@BigHenFor2 жыл бұрын
Nancy makes the patterned wire from various widths of silver square wire. She prints the patterns into the metal using pattern plates, running them through a rolling mill. You could try ebay or Etsy for suppliers of ready made preprinted silver wire, but like this might be more likely to be sold by suppliers to the jewellery trade in Sweden, or in Europe if available. A jewellers rolling mill is an investment. Where I am they start at around 2400 sek, and you would need to purchase the printing plates and 925 silver square wire. However, if you want to practice making this twisted band rings, you can get aluminium, brass, and copper plain flat wire. You can get brass preprinted flat wire from Jewellers Suppliers, because it's used in costume jewellery a lot, and although you might not be able to practice the beading technique, if you have no access to soldering equipment, you can practice the forming, shaping, and filing techniques. Check out Nancy's Web site because she has an extensive catalogue of tutorials. Enjoy your adventure.

Not sure if Rio Grande Jewelry Supply ships to you, but I have many of the patterned wire from them... if you go to their site (or any supplier) just put "patterned wire" in the search area. Good luck :)

Is that copper wire you're using for binding?
@NancyHamiltonJewelry2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I can throw it in the pickle without unwrapping. Nice if I have to resolder. Works for me. Thanks.

Is your binding wire made of copper?
@NancyHamiltonJewelry2 жыл бұрын
Yes, copper. That way I can throw it in the pickle pot without unwrapping first. Thanks.
