And adding the organ on this verse made it even more powerful for me.

You made this my favorite version of the song. I was born and raised in Minnesota and had sat around bonfires as older folks recalled the story of Nov. 10 1975. I instantly fell in love with the story and the song. I’m planning a trip to Whitefish point to visit the memorial.

Thanks for listening. Brian Burns did this song right and gave it what it needed announcing the names in the end.

That's really cool that he tells the names of the captain and crew at the end!

Wow! I was going to add a trivial comment about how his melody line didn't precisely follow Lightfoot's original version. Then the song got near the end where he added each of the crew names. Suddenly, my trivial observations didn't have much meaning. Thank you, Brian Burns for helping me recalibrate my perspective.

Breathtaking. You brought new power to the song and story. "All that remains is the faces and the names" thank you for sharing them. A montage of the faces would have been a solemn addition.

Yes Gordon lightfoot should have done that in the original version. so powerful it makes me cry when I hear the names!

I think back then, the musical artists tried to keep within a radio time restriction. There were exceptions of course like In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida etc. I agree maybe on an extended version it would have been great. Hindsight I guess. I would think Lightfoot has acknowledged this great singer already for this most excellent cover. Singers/Songwriters watch for covers of their music for sure.

Give a listen to the band Headstones version of this song. Gordon would be proud.

Believe this is the same Brian Burns who sang for Cherokee Rose around Waco, TX in the late 80’s. Used to follow them around to the dance halls every Friday and Saturday night.

Bravo! This cover by Brian Burns is most excellent. I hope Gordon Lightfoot is aware of this well done cover of his song. This Canuck compatriot of his hopes so. My hometown is quite close to Gordon Lightfoot's hometown of Orillia, Ontario. Doesn't make me an expert.... just a great fan. ;-)
