Allways loved the victorinox red knives I think every kid my age had one at one time or another growing up in the 80s and early 90s. I've a fairly decent collection at this stage. Nice video

Great summary. I have one of the Timex Camper Watches (mechanical, hand-wound, plastic body). Do you know if they had switched to non-radioactive lume by the 1980's?

By that time. It was probably tritium, so I don’t think it was as radioactive as the large amounts of tritium they used on the older watches. It was either that or some other glowing material that was very cost-effective. Keep in mind it’s a Timex. So they probably we’re not using the highest materials.

@@markcoffman494Thank you. Whatever material it uses will grow brightly just after being exposed to room light, but it dies down to nothing in less than 5 minutes.

@@AstronomyGarage most definitely tritium. Tritium has that behavior of gathering a lot of light into itself and putting it out but old tritium doesn’t last as long in regards of putting out.

I have 3 of them but they are 36mm and mechanical hand-wound. I bought them some 30 years ago. I did buy a Timex hand-wound also but that was a bit more expensive but the same watch. These unknown brand were dirt cheap. I bought 3 because I thought they would fail after a while and they do not. I'm still using the first one from time to time, mostly on vacation, and you wind it up and it runs. It's all plastic and you can't even open it but I leave it on when taking a shower or even surface swimming. No worries. The Timex is still mint in box and does have a bigger crown than the replica's. 2 of the replica's are still mint in box because I'm still using the first one. And a SAK is my EDC knife.

I don’t sadly unless somebody sent it to me. I personally am not a collector of Limited additions. They have no use to me. If I can’t carry it and use it then I don’t buy it.
