The Wunderlust Travelers recently had a great time vacationing in Tenerife during January 2022. The weather was perfect on all days but one when we had the winds from the Sahara Desert bring in some sand that made it hazy. Other than that one day, we had a super time exploring the countryside. In this video we highlight two northern coast towns where I got to fly my DJI Air 2S drone to capture the stunning beauty. Please let us know what you think by commenting below.
The first town is Puerto de la Cruz. Puerto de la Cruz is a city on the north coast of Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands. It’s known for its dark, volcanic-sand beaches and the huge Loro Parque zoo, which lies to the west. On the seafront, Lago Martiánez is a saltwater pool complex designed by architect César Manrique. The old harbor is home to a 17th-century customs house and Batería de Santa Bárbara, a crumbling 18th-century fort.
The second town is Garachico. Garachico is a municipality and town on the northern coast of Tenerife, about 52 km West of the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 50 km from Tenerife North Airport and 67 km from Tenerife South Airport. The town itself nestles below a 500m+ cliff and was absolutely fun to walk around the old town.
According to Google, Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, off West Africa. It's dominated by Mt. Teide, a dormant volcano that is Spain's tallest peak. Tenerife may be best known for its Carnaval de Santa Cruz, a huge pre-Lent festival with parades, music, dancing and colorful costumes. The island has many beaches (with sands from yellow to black) and resort areas, including Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas.
We stayed on the North Coast just outside Puerto de la Cruz in a villa that we found in Booking.com
