The X-Files | Mulder and Scully calling each other Fox and Dana

I omitted times where they are strictly introducing each other like “I’m Special Agent ___________ and this is my partner ________”

@@Spikeslady7 I disagree, actually. In part, anyway. Not necessarily that he dislikes his first name, but that it was the main reason for telling Scully not to use it. When his exes show back up, he never so much as makes a face when they call him Fox. Even Diana calls him Fox, and she's a fellow agent just like Scully. So I personally think it was an attempt to keep her at a certain distance early on. I like to think he knew already there was some potential there, and he probably didn't want a repeat of however things ended with Diana. Anyway, sorry for the long answer, lol.

There was a kid named fox at my elementary school. I don’t remember him but my mom met his mom once during Field Day and asked if it was bc of this show and she confirmed that it was.

YOU GUYS I HAVE AN UPDATE: okay peep my comment down below about this kid named fox who was a bit younger than me so I didn’t know him but I thought we went to like elementary school together . Turns out I was wrong. He was in the same local soccer league but a few years younger. *Anyways* so when I was asking my mom about this bc I couldn’t really remember the situation she goes “Oh, we’ll you know he had an older sister that was your same year… HER NAME WAS DANA”. *Yes* . I can confirm that there was a brother/sister duo in my local community named Fox & Dana. Cheers to them, hope they’re thriving. What a wild ride.

I know that not all parts of this show aged equally well, but I loved it as a kid. I recently watched the screen adaptation of Good Omens, and the depth and strength of the relationship between the two main characters really reminded me of Mulder and Scully. So, I'm here, watching X-Files edits and remembering. Thank you for creating the video!

It's a minor quibble, but I don't think Mulder reading Scully's full name from a document, e.g. her vaccination record or her senior thesis, should count the same as him actually calling her Dana.

I'm surprised that in the new series, he didn't call her "Dana" more often once they started getting close again. He used her first name quite a bit in the original show during soft or intimate moments. On the other hand, Scully hardly ever called him "Fox," apart from the one time in the revival and the first time she ever tried and he told her not to. Earlier on I always took it as a sign of her respecting his wishes, but later on I have to wonder if maybe calling him "Fox" just didn't feel right, lol.
