I have to say, the music in the episode "Closure" was a total heartbreaker...

Kim Manners getting choke up while discussing 'Closure' is enough, but to learn he died in 2009 can make even a very stoic person like me get very husky.

I shed a tear on Closure. I'm not someone who cries over movies/TV so that was kind of a big deal.

Yep... Closure gets me every time.. Especially the opening scene

@@liamsoyuz9691 opening scene countered the story. Only the kids the were spared the tragic death were taken by starlight. those kids coming out of the games were victims. cools scene though...

I just finished a rewatch of season 7 on the cable channel Comet. A lot of Hollywood A.D. was cut, but I loved that Skinner was the only one who fessed up to taking a bubble bath!🤣 The stuttering special effects in Requiem scared me so much that I screamed! (They're accompanied my musical stings and done "jump scare" style.)

i know a lot of fans tend to see "closure" as really anticlimactic and honestly, i think that was the point and one of the reasons why i actually really love the end of the samantha arc. all throughout the myth arc, we're constantly told that while alien forces are involved, the real evil was the work of man. bill mulder sacrificing his daughter, the rest of the syndicate sending their families to the slaughter to save themselves, the hybrids being sanctioned by the government, etc. so even though mulder put on the facade of expecting some big bad monsters to be behind his sister's disappearance for all those years, i think deep down, some part of him knew that it was always just a story he told himself to hide the more horrifying truth. in the end, despite the use of alien technology it was samantha's own parents' and csm's negligence that caused her death. and it's much easier to accept a little green men than your own family as the real monsters. i think somewhere around the time he learned csm was still sheltering samantha clones, he'd come to accept that she was long since dead. so while he's by no means happy that that was the case he's also just really relieved for it to finally be over and that samantha didn't spend countless more years than she had to suffering. he accepted her death and that she wouldn't have blamed him. i also think david duchovny had the right idea in terms of choosing to not have mulder collapse in tears because it reinforces the idea but he would always be older than she ever was. the image of him grown up next to her forever 14 year old self is a heartbreaking reminder of her short life, and one that if i didn't know better, i'd say was foreshadowed with the young samantha clone in "herrenvolk." out of all the controversial and infuriating decisions made by the writers and the last few seasons of the show, i actually think that this is one where they were in the right.

Indeed. I read an article that was written a few years ago that detailed the same philosophy about the "story Mulder told himself" vs. the truth/the evil that men do.

i think the music used in the episode....closure was...Moby...My Weakness...very chilled and haunting too but a nice track. when Mulder saw the spirit of his sister.

Loved the Gary Shandling interruption. R.I.P. Given what the last line of Requiem was, it would never have been OK for any fan if it had been the series finale.

So weird. "The truth about...." didn't become a meme title for youtube until after this was uploaded by a large time period. "Truth about Robin Williams..." "Truth about...xyz." etc etc. I wonder if this is where they got it from?

Archibald Grace's memoir was titled "The Truth about the Titanic" (1913). But the phrase probably predates that by a lot.
