IMO If he hadn't worked for CSM and Syndicate, he could have been a Mulder's ally, perhaps even a friend. Unfortunately, he joined the wrong "dark" side and become a "ratboy". :-(

I loved her show eluded to certain events happening in our universe but never explicitly showed it... when Cassandra Spender tells Mulder there are warinh factions of Extraterrestrial always loved that they only showerd glimpses of things.... so much more scarier.

the mythology was excellent but was not the show's selling point, most fans asked remember it for the monster of the week episodes, god, demons, ghosts and monsters made the x-files special and realistic since all these things exist in real-life and have overwhelming supporting evidence
