1:05:26 I don’t understand Jez’s point here. The 2018 studios (outside of Playground Games) were studios facing a lot of trouble being independent. Obsidian being multi platform did not stop them from struggling to make games with publishers or having to crowd fund them. They should be flourishing as a 1st Party precisely because they now have resources & can focus on one platform (outside of PC).

@1:05:00 As someone deeply interested in medieval history Jez, I suppose I’m an outlier here but the only one of these four titles that has me excited is indeed Pentiment. I dislike anything rhythm based so HiFi-Rush is unappealing to me, and the aesthetic of both SoT and Grounded is quite garish and a major turn off. And that’s beside my general disdain for live service titles. I immediately preordered the physical disc for Pentiment and am eagerly looking forward to it.

Well, that's a complex topic. There are many factors playing into this. If your Internet connection is sufficient and stable then no. The rest is up to literally every connection point and cable from you to the server blade processing the game. The amount of server blades, geographical distance, type of network (Content Delivery Network, Edge Streaming) or simply compression techniques. The local workload of your provider's connection is also relevant.

I think some of these insiders need to be called out for blurting out stuff as if it's a fact before they're even sure it's 100% gonna happen. I'm sorry, but I don't buy Sikamikanico's excuse that "oh I should have used the word considering instead of planning"; no, Sik acted like the information he got was 100% true and that Starfield was already in development for PS5. Sikamikanico did a 1 hour emergency podcast on XboxEra the moment he broke the news and then on top of that he joined Iron Lords Podcast for a bit to discuss his report and not once in that period did he ever say or act like "oh, it may or may not happen, Microsoft is only considering it, they're not literally working on a PS5 port of Starfield right now," he acted like it was definitely going to happen and that Starfield going multiplat was set in stone, even though he didn't explicitly say as such. That's a stark contrast to Tom Warren who at the very least repeated a couple times that just because Indiana Jones is being considered for a PS5 release doesn't mean it's actually going to happen. To make matters worse, NateTheHate came out there the moment the XboxEra report went live and confirmed on Twitter that "Starfield WILL come to PS5." Not maybe, not considering, but WILL. As in, they're already making the port. And then it turns out that only 5 days later, NateTheHate comes out and says he was wrong; that the information he got about Starfield going multiplat was false. Now, at least NateTheHate actually admitted he was wrong and apologized for it - unlike Sikamikanico - but stuff like this shouldn't happen again. Insiders need to be careful with how they word their leaks so as not to set their community up in a frenzy over nothing, and they need to be 100% certain about the reports they're corroborating instead of rushing out there and backing up someone's report with bad intel. Not to mention Phil did indeed shut down Sikamikanico's initial report of Microsoft "planning" to release Starfield on PS5. Sik will be quick to say "b-b-but he said it's not part of the four games and he said he's not ruling it out!!!" But Phil straight-up said that these are the only four games that they are planning right now and that this is just a test. They were not planning anything other than these four games for the last few months. They may very well have been considering Starfield for PS5, but they weren't planning. Seems to me that if Starfield comes to PlayStation in, like, 2029, instead of owning up to his mistake in the present, Sikamikanico will be quick to say "see guys? I was right!!!" instead, even though the chances of his report from 2024 being related to something happening years later is pretty slim. So TLDR, even if Sikamikanico wasn't outright lying for clicks, Alanah has a point in this instance and some insiders do deserve to be called out for the way they present their information.

There may or may not have been a PS5 port of Starfield at one point; I'm sure they were planning to do so before MS acquired them but chances are they were developing the game for PC first and then making ports later, as that's what Bethesda normally does with their games. Game was in development for 8 years but it wasn't in full production for 8 years. Either way, your entire argument is just a deflection of everything I said. Will Starfield ever come to PlayStation? Maybe in 4-5 years, yeah, but at that point I won't care, cuz the game will be old asf. Maybe it never will. Either way, it doesn't excuse XboxEra's actions in the matter. But since you're so insistent on Starfield being actively developed for PS5 (spoiler alert: it's not) all because the crux of your argument is that it may or may not have had a PS5 port at one point, then by that logic, Stellar Blade is currently being developed for Xbox and PC because back when it was initially revealed as Project Eve, it was set to release on Xbox One and PC day-one.

These companies need to release good shit for us to give good compliments or comments on their games or their business model. But the way I see it. Comments section for me is a way for people to improve their infrastructure. Google should bring back that dislike. Maybe they wouldn't have to side line bad business decisions. Like how AT&T thinks 5 dollars for a day of service is a reasonable discount when their service didn't work. What happened when ps had their outage. We got free games and they apologized. Sure that time sucked. But in my eyes they made up for their failure. But these companies need to do better. Stop making these half assed directs giving us zero direction for the companies future. That sure went all over the place but I'm very sure people deal with this shit all the time. Companies take advantage of their fans. Release good games. Microsoft and Nintendo might be the only console makers doing big AAA single player games now. I really feel like we are in for another consumer shift and it is just starting. I know it is hard for PlayStation lickers to believe, but Xbox has been much better this generation and they have a very thick pipeline of games flowing for at least the next few years. Clearly they are better with managing resources. Less popular than PlayStation today and not losing a pile of money. With the way development is today, I shudder to think that Sony may not have more than 1 or 2 major first party exclusives in to 2026. Yikes! On a side note... Poor Jez, he seems like a pretty chill guy and he is stuck with Rand al Thor. The guy has some thin skin, and seems to have anger issues. Your obsessed with first party but look at what’s happening, the first 4 months of the year and Xbox doesn’t have a single game, they are literally launching more games on other hardware than there own. So let’s see, helldivers and final fantasy are really good, then rise of ronin, stellar blade off the top of my head. Plus hifi rush, sea of thieves. I too was obsessed with first party, and it still matters that PlayStations first party is struggling right now, but at the moment the games are on PlayStation right so that’s where I’m going to play. Until Xbox launches something interesting, which is hellblade all the way in may.

What happens first? 1. Rand completes CP2077 2. Jez completes P5R 3. Podcast on camera 4. Starfield on PS5 5. Fallout V For me it’s probably 3-2-4-5-1 since Rand will find any and every excuse to not touch Cyberpunk. Kinda sad, since it would be real a watershed moment, eye opening experience for our resident Starfield apologist. It would be really hard to defend SF after that. Also regarding history being kind for SF (which is Jez fav catch phrase) - Steam player numbers seems to be telling different story - so with all due respect I press X to doubt. Game is deeply flawed on base level - it feels dated and that's not something you can fix with patches.
