Fans are dumb. Online fans I mean. Real fans enjoy playing no matter what and ignore the business decisions. Just play. You can't influence Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo in their decisions except through playing their games and on their consoles. In my eyes nothing's changed. Microsoft has released Ori on Switch, Minecraft Dungeons and Legends on Switch and Playstation, Psychonauts 2 on Playstation... Phil has said in the past that exclusives are decided on a case by case basis and here we are... they decided that HiFi Rush is a good fit, so they release it on other platforms and while they're at it they release a couple more that make sense. I have not understood once why people were going so wild with rumors. It's like everyone is a bird brain and has forgotten or never really looked at what MS has been doing over the past couple years.

I put my xbox into storage a while ago, I just got bored of gaming completely. I no longer have xbox live gold but I'm always on the look out for a game that I can sink 10000 hours into but until then my xbox series x will just sit in storage not being used.

This is why I simply waited for an update straight from Xbox. I understand that people have varying interpretations of what was said today, but whatever the case may be, whether it's AAs, AAAs, Indy and/or Starfield, I am content. More games to more people is a good thing to me. And the fact that they're looking forward in terms of hardware is music to my ears. I never thought they would get out of hardware, but it was just heartening to hear that they're doubling down there.

I've always considered exclusivity of games as a double edged sword, while they was profitable in the past they seem more a hindrance for companies than a lucrative strategy, Especially post-Covid where development costs are increasing . I solely think that the gaming industry will find its new defining landmarks once all the major companies commit to non-exclusivity or timed exclusivity at least for diversifying profitability plus it's a win/win situation for everybody concerned. The problem with that is that everyone except Nintendo is doing it. Even Sony is soon following this strategy in some way given the new CEO is more a numbers guy than an exclusive guy. We already seen mobile games of at least of actual decent quality (mainly Holoverse games to be honest) is also being release on consoles too. ​So platform exclusive is changing it terms of meaning for years now.@@De1usionsofGrandeur

I think moving older games to other consoles once they have run their course on Xbox is great idea, generates more revenue that (theoretically & hopefully) gets reinvested into new games. I think Sony should do they same. Take Infamous for example, I doubt that is selling well right now but would probably sell like crazy on Xbox/Switch/PC and could help fund a sequel or new project, and help polish exisitng projects.

There wasn't a lot there if you just play video games, and they definitely slammed the leaks. The podcast talk seemed more like a call out to video game creators. Pushing the narrative of being able to hit so many platforms if you release for Xbox, and all the ways they can work with you to get your game out through Game Preview. Plus if you go on Game Pass you get can get access to the mobile market which is huge. Overall I liked its clean and simple format cutting through all the rumors, just like Karaks news videos.

I think Phil Spencer is trying to be as transparent as corporations and business allows them to be. The podcast format was pleasant and easy to understand for everybody and the messages were on point. Times change and so does the industry, as usual Xbox tend to be the first ones to do that leap into a change and others follow. Such was the case as you mentioned console to pc, pc day and date, cloud gaming, subscription services, etc etc. Which leads me to believe even Nintendo will have to follow suit (eventually, before somebody asks).

Great video. Any thinking person could have expected this update, because like you said, its not really news to what XBOX/Microsoft always said they want to do. All news (not just gaming) are going way too far with clickbait titles and reporting on rumors in a circle. I hope this will change again at some point. Thank you for staying sane with your reports. The one thing that noone seems to report from this very normal scripted business update that all bigger companies are doing (be it just internal or external), is that there are 10 major titles coming to XBOX this year. We know about 4 of them so far, I am curious as to what the others will be. Edit: Exclusivity from my point of view as a gamer has never made sense in the first place. The console hardware sales are always just a loss of money for the companies, so putting games everywhere for gamers to spend money on is the thing that they should have done/should do for sure.

I really think the handheld piece can't be overlooked. The Switch and the Steam Deck have changed the game. Admittedly I think calling the Steam Deck "Handheld" with a straight face is impressive, but none-the-less the market has spoken.

Never trust anything that comes out of the mouths of representatives from MS or any major company. Microsoft and especially Xbox has a history of liars and back tracks. Even within this event they don't rule out Indy and Starfield completely. It's of little interest to me as a sold my launch day Series X when I got a high spec PC. I rarely game on console now but keep the PS5 and Switch handy , although never really use the Switch. The drama this scenario accumulated on the shitty social media platforms was mental. I wish folk would put this much effort into the real outside problems of this world and local issues that could affect our lives and children's lives. Great video again though mate...

MS will not bring every game to competing consoles. MS knows they need certain titles to promote their console. Sea of Thieves is old and is a live service title, so reports of it going multi-platform make sense. Also Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment and Grouded have been reported to be going multi-platform too, the previously mentioned are all smaller titles. I expect Halo, Gears l, Forza , Fable and other AAA titles (e.g. Avowed, Perfect Dark) to remain as Xbox and PC only. While many of the ABK titles will remain multiplat. Future Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Doom titles might also stay multi-platform. As previously stated, Xbox needs console specific titles like Starfield and Indiana Jones to promote their hardware. The people spreading the rumours, probably deep down inside themselves can’t accept Sony having competition. Oddly enough, Sony has recently indicated that they may allow some, key word some of their games to go multiplatform. Edit:Grammar

I'm sorry but as far as I'm concerned the leaks were close to spot on, including Starfield. We just had an event to squash this rumor, and they wouldn't deny that Starfield could come to Playstation, only that it wasn't part of these first 4 games. They say it coyly in the podcast, and Phil straight up says it in his Verge interview published afterwards, that Starfield can come to Playstation. It's 100% guaranteed internally that Microsoft was discussing it, if their job yesterday was to put out this fire, and they still wouldn't deny Starfield will come to Playstation. The same source told Xbox Era that Microsoft just purchased more Playstation dev kits. They got accurate info. Starfield to Playstation was absolutely being discussed internally, how anyone can not see that after yesterday is beyond me.

It would spell bad news for the players, and it doesn't matter which platform. We risk big wig companies might jack up the prices if one of their rivals drops out.

Nothing Sony or Microsoft publishes is good enough to make me buy there hardware. Just publish the games on whatever system I want. I don't actually feel driven to play everything anymore either and buy less games than I used to while certain live-service~ish games take a lot of gaming time up.

Didn't say Starfield and Indiana Jones aren't going to PS5/Switch 2 in a future release. Overall feel a bit more confident if I bought a current gen Xbox...a bit. Personally don't care if Xbox sends games elsewhere.

Everyone says their message has been confusing - if you just listen to what Phil has 'actually' said and not the rumors and internet twisting - he's been talking about this as their vision for the past few years. Search up some old interviews - he's been saying the exact same thing a long time.

They basically said that they won't rule out Starfield and Indy. The idea that they would just release these random collection games off all things and then stop there is absurd. This is very much a similar situation with how Sony rolled out their PC support...Those games seem pretty likely to come over at later dates.

It was a sad show, it raised more questions than answers. It’s an experiment, so no promises people. It is clear they want their titles on ALL platforms, but now they’ll do it a few at a time to gauge reactions. They didn’t even have the guts to name the titles… I like that they said they are staying in the console business but WHY would you begin to talk about the performance of your next system? Is it coming out much sooner than expected? Do you want to bury the Series gen as soon as possible? Bad move move MS you don’t put out fires with gasoline.

The fact that people were willing to believe such crazy rumors speaks to how weak the Xbox brand has become. Some of that isn't the Xbox team's fault, but the fact that the perception around it is still so bad speaks volumes.

6:15 Wait wait wait wait. How in the earth switch is underperforming console? They sold 140 million units. They sold 1.2 billion games. 21 nintendo 1st part games sold more than 10 million. They have 60 45 30 20 million sellers. Their movie made more than billion dollar. And they did all of these in their final year. You have to understand. Very small portion of consumer care about power of the hardware.
