The Xcelsior Comes To SEPTA

This video speaks for itself: the first unit of a multi-year, 525-unit order of New Flyer Xcelsior model XDE40 buses.
This first bus will roam the system for training purposes as well as revenue service. It will be returned to New Flyer for any requested modifications before then coming back to SEPTA for revenue service.

I'm wondering if SEPTA will be retrofitting the remaining buses with the Clever Devices stop announcements instead of the existing Orbitals.

So this is what our fare increases are going to. Well, that and probably to pay the repairs for the Silverliner Vs.

LOL! Well, the fare increases are coming every few years now, anyway. State law as part of Act 89, actually. All the transit systems in the state have to hike fares periodically in keeping pace with inflation and expenses.

Not exactly. Funding for new buses and other infrastructure improvements comes from a separate pool of money (Capital Budget); the fare increases are strictly earmarked for the Operating Budget.

Really? Laat I checked, it was with Callowhill Depot. BTW, have Septa always got new tech buses and trains ever since they got their 1st low floor bus in 2000?

It's moved on from Callowhill. Roaming to all the depots before it goes back for modifications. This is the first time SEPTA has gone so high tech on a bus order.
