I ordered the 4 part comic for this story from a company in a comic book advertisement back in the 90s. After a few months, I received issues 1,2, and 4... No issue 3 - the apotheosis of this glorious story! Drove me crazy because back then I couldn't just look it up on the internet, and I didn't trust the company to order another copy. Years later after completely forgetting this story existed, I come across this masterpiece and now I finally get to find out what happened. For free! The halcyon days of my youth are not quite lost, and your preservation and promulgation of it is much appreciated.

This might sound weird but your calm voice and reading style/pacing really infuse the stories from this universe with the hopeless nihilism that the movies all seen to convey naturally- the message that the universe is a big, cold place where death and fortune can come for anyone at any time and life goes on for everyone and everything else regardless. Amazing job!

No different from the explorers in the 1700 and 1800s that went around the world and found new things to eat. It's why the Steller's Sea Cow went extinct not long after it was described, and the most complete and scientific description we have of them also includes many descriptions of how wonderful they taste. Similarly, Darwin's notes on the tortoises of Galapagos mostly focus on comparing it to foods like beef, lamb, and chicken, and how superior the Galapagos tortoise was to all of them.
@Simbirsk21305 жыл бұрын
It is a very interesting story, however, I am most confident, that the price of Rynth meat would be even higher than gold and platinum combined and to the power of three. Just imagine to yourself, if it costs a fortune to get 1 kg to the I.S.S. which is in orbit around Earth, how much would 1kg meat from a different star system cost on Earth? So, in my humble opinion, only ore, as in Alien, as well as other minerals, actually make sense to transport in large quantites across such distances.
@Xeno4265 жыл бұрын
@@Simbirsk2130 Compared to the cost of getting into space today? Sure, but these stories don't take place today, it's in the future. A future where a small dropship can carry over 15t of cargo from orbit and back without issue. Where touching down a massive starship just to check out a mysterious signal doesn't even enter into monetary calculations.
@vis5325 жыл бұрын
@@Simbirsk2130 And it probably cost a ton back in the day to transport X Food. Doesn't mean people won't do it - even if the cost is high. Some rich billionaire back on earth is probably making a killing selling exotic meats to rich earth dudes if it's expensive to transport. If it's not expensive then some rich billionaire back on earth is just making a killing selling meats to food processors. Either way, there is a business opportunity ya know?

This is is a Nostalgic SciFi, no question. But your beautiful reading voice, and subtle background audio throughout that never seems to raise anxiety, or like a soundtrack, tries to press the narrative’s agenda. This is ASMR, and there is shame in it. I’m so glad to have these longer episodes, to fall asleep to you voice, and again , the next morning, having to listen to with morning coffee, in a different mindset. Still, calming and not jolting to hear-yet in a subject, like a lot of us have said, is either a subject we grew up loving, or came to it later with AVP, and find your/these presentations of it above and beyond any cinematic attempts made thus far of the crossover material, just a small portcullis windows with a inflated budgets, unable to reveal the true actual world built what is beyond that which any production company or cheque writers could peek in to see.

Seriously, if you really meant that Covenant is better than Aliens, you're either under 10 or you've got terrible taste.

@@bigwitt187 "terrible taste" is just a simpler way of saying you have a different opinion to me but I can't explain why you're wrong. I said change my mind, not state that you disagree with me. I have very mixed opinions on aliens, for example the plot and pacing was great, but I can't forgive what they did to xenomorphs that effectively made them infinitely less scary for all the other movies they're in. \the worst possible thing they could have done with the sequel is make them all weaker and just space bugs. See alien: isolation for how to make a similar story where every xenomorph is as scary as the one in Alien - There are probably just as many as in Aliens but they do not have a queen to make them like insects and they hunt alone most of the time. While I admit that Aliens in itself is a better movie than Covenant, what it did to the franchise really took it down a lot for me
