The XK68 First Look - Flawed But Fixable

I got my XK68 from eBay, this video showcases my initial thoughts and issues before mounting it for a live fire test. As long as you are okay with working on the device, I think the XK68 can be a decent IR laser combo device for it's Alibaba price of $60-ish dollars.

I have the ir illuminator version. I tested mine for recoil on a ak in 762, 10 inch barrel. It holds zero when fired. I did some drop tests. The first 2 drops, my top rail (midwest industries) caved in towards the front where my laser was mounted. I was not able to see that it caved in until i got home. Youd have to really look at it, but that enough changed the zero. I later mounted the laser towards the rear of the rail where it has more metal. Did some drop tests (about 4 or 5) and there was some shift, but I noticed the screw to mount on the rail came a little loose (not the 2 screws that hold the mount, the screw that holds onto the rail). I noticed it once I got back home. I retightened it and it appeared to return to zero. I will be testing it again and checking the screw every time I drop it. I jb welded my mount to the unit to rule out shifting from the mount. So far I do believe it can take some abuse with some modifications just to the mount.

Makes sense, I want to epoxy the mount to the rail at some point. I think as long as you take care of the mount, the device can be great.

I’m thinking of buying this to try it out myself. It seems pretty solid with the other review I’ve seen but I need more hard evidence lol I’d like to see it on a more recoiling rifle than a typical AR in 5.56. Maybe an AK in 7.62x39 or AR10 in .308

Not sure, if I had to guess SMS is just buying all the allocations from the factory. Hopefully at some point they come back to eBay for a good price.
