When I was a Ranger, a tactical flashlight had a red lens because tactical meant dark and quiet as if behind enemy lines. “Going tactical “ means quitting all non-essential noise, smell, or light. A tactical road March was one in battle uniform with full battle equipment (less ammunition).

Interesting Video, thank you! I would like to add the following thought: Head wounds, especially the forehead, temple, eyebrows and top of the skull, bleed quite heavily. If the blood flows into the eyes, it can severely limit an attacker's vision. This also reduces the ability to attack. Depending on the crime being defended, DNA traces will stick to the flashlight after a good hit, which can make it easier to identify the attacker afterwards. This can be of some relevance in cases of attempted rape or attempted murder. Furthermore: In Germany, there are efforts to generally ban the carrying of knives of any shape and size in public. A flashlight is already considered harmless/safe by almost all security services and the police and is not classified as a weapon. Even if the head of the flashlight is designed as a "DNA collector". In this respect, I see a tactical flashlight with appropriate training in its use as a defensive weapon as an ideal and legal tool.

The best self defense tool is a flashlight Three things you can do with a flashlight disorientate,navigate and Identify. It takes a minimum of 60 lumens of incandescent light to disorientate someone’s vision in absolute darkness. And It takes a minimum of 120 lumens of led light to disorientate someone’s vision in low light. With most light having 800 lumens or more. Most violence happens at night and it gets dark every day

I love my E9R, I use it daily in my pre-dawn hikes. Unfortunately, somehow the charging indicator light lens popped out in the field (lost). I know they'll replace the light, but still. I also like the high lumen strobe that you can set to be the mode that turns on when you hit the switch for self-defense mode (another non-lethal option that might work for one of those drugged out dangerous zombies you see everywhere now). Not many companies have flashlights that do that.

One thing to worry about abusing flashlight on combats is that it got battery inside. And the battery is most likely to be lithium based. You don't want to form a crack on the battery cuz it might eventually release smoke and then explode, just like old motobombs cellphones. The lithium is very dangerous, battery is very dangerous. Ofc you won't be abusing the flashlight very often, but might be a good idea to check the battery after this kind of session

If you mentioned this and I missed it, sorry. Can't speak for this brand at all, but I've bought 3 different brands of mini led flashlights with the buttons on the end for the thumb. All worked great for about 2 weeks under lots of on/off use, then the spring gets fatigued and the lights either don't come on, or come on at lower power. I stretched out the springs and that helps a bit for awhile . So if you think you may use one in self defense emergency situation , you may want to keep that in mind. I've switched back to ones with the button on the side myself for every day type use and spare the ones I may use in self defense situation for just that.

This is really good advice. I carry one of these at work because I go into areas where I can't carry a pistol. I have never had to use it yet but I know how I would use it. I would have it in my left hand. I would blind an approaching attacker and then hit them with a gigantic right straight punch that they can't see coming. I would not use it to strike with. It of course would cut the skin more but I think I could cause more concussive damage by just punching without it. Also, when the cops show up, I would rather tell them I only hit the guy with my hands and not with a weapon.

How many lumens to blind an attacker?
@Chris-yi4pj5 ай бұрын
So this is good enough kool
@cedricc.3063 жыл бұрын
To blind someone you should pay more attention to candela (cd) and less to lumen. Lumen is the total amount of light the flashlight is throwing but it can diffuse on a wide angle. While candela give you an idea on how much the beam is concentrated. If you look at the Acebeam w10 it's "only" 450 lumen but it has 370000 cd, can reach 1200 meters and is consider has a laser, and if you test it, don't blind people with it, cause it will cause permanent eye damage. On the opposit you can have a flash light with 3200 lumen like the Klarus XT11X with "only" 20000 cd (reach of 300 meters), this flash light will be less effective to blind someone but be more effective to enlight everything in front of you so it is much better for searching. But even with the XT11X you can blind several people at once has the angle is wider and 20000cd is not bad (same as the Olight warrior pro and twice the E9R you tried here).

@MightyRude3 жыл бұрын
They are a crappy self defense tool for the average joe They just require too much training I have hundreds of hours practice with the karambit (and only the karambit) and I’m 90% sure I won’t hurt myself when using it for self defense (something that’s never going to happen) The practicing itself will hurt your muscles and tendons for the first 100 or so hours of practice so not really a weapon you can just pick up and use There’s also a difference between karambits some are easier to use and others are quite hard but they will all hurt you when learning to use them
@WatchMysh3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the scenario. They mostly suck because at least in the country where I live you don't want a tool that directly escalates any situation into "life or death". So for example the flashlight mentioned here is way better suited for the task because it lets you control escalation levels from "Hey, I can see you" to "heavy blunt force trauma quickly call an ambulance" whereas you can't illuminate stuff with a Karambit and you directly escalate into "lets slit each other's throat".

Dont know why but I was pretty observant through parts of this video and I have to know, do yall think mike wore earing. Don't care if he did or didnt I mean I do but I think there is a earing hole in his left ear. And mike if you see this and I'm right, what made you take them out?

Yes. I had earrings. I'm about 40 and I train a lot so I don't wear them anymore lol.

Could you talk about fire extinguishers? I’ve always seen them as a good defence tool by spraying an attacker with it then hitting them within once they’re stunned 🧯

@@BreathEmpowerment so what? you're going to say wait a minute mr robber I need to get in my backpack while my hands I literally trembling from the adrenaline and I've lost control of fine motor skills. I then unzip the backpack, pull out a fire extinguisher and blast him in the face while he just stands there and let's me? I get the feeling you've never been robbed or jumped.

Are there combination weapons with a variety of legal self-defense weapons in a single unit, such as: combined claw with buttons for knife to protrude & tasar & silent cell signal alarm & very loud disorienting alarm & video with sound for both SD card and connectivity to smart phone app with option to include gps location & calling designated emergency numbers w/pre-recorded messages & blinding light & salt bullets & pepper spray & hybrid power source (rechargeable batteries + regular batteries + mechanical energy generator via crank &/or shaking &/or passive motion like "self-winding" watches have & micro usb for recharging cell phone Etc.)? If not, seems like an obvious marketable device! After all, in emergencies, one can't assume there will be time for switching between separate devices. Wouldn't hurt to offer optional accessories such as holders as wrist bands; belts with hidden compartments +/- belt buckle weapons; stealth jewelry and hair decor that double as weapons &/or alarms -/or blue tooth vs gps tags; easy access (holster-like) ~ "fanny pack" with accessories for stuff like chemical exposure mitigation incl nose clips and oxygen canister + goggles that may as well also filter out some % of blinding light +/- single lense infrared attachment + eye wash + skin cleanser, and sound assault mitigating ear plugs, + multi tool for escaping car trunk or removing tail light for waving for help &/or leaving a trail of evidence as well as a concealable saw for cutting rope or zip ties; maybe activatable thermal modifiers like hand warmers Etc.; stimulants to partially counter some sedatives; and other accessories such as smart phone "protective cases" with stealth compartments, hidden compartments in shoe heels &/or straps &/or fasteners that local shoe-repair shops could swap with regular heels; underwire bras with modified wire + closure hooks + standard-looking front padding; various multi- function fabric decor such as studs & rhinestones & appliques & ribbon & inner seam self-adhering holders of misc tiny stuff; ways to limit lay-people's hand-held (relatively weak) metal-detectors from noticing hidden weapons or create uniform patterns to camouflage what can't be sufficiently blocked ; Etc.; plus a line of custom-fit items to place inside of these hidden containers. Think 'Q' on James Bond. Women and teens particularly would benefit from such devices (+ manufacturers could make additional profits through partnerships with App developers and approved distributors could share profits from tuition for training courses tailored to the use of their proprietary products; Etc..

Rechargeables are better than regular batteries in multiple ways, it's not just preferance. You can get higher outputs and longer runtime and it's just better.

fun learning, good stuff, Im old, i used to keep my sneakers tied so i can always get away fast, now the only thing on me fast is how i eat and dream about being fast. my arthritis wont really work with using things to hit things. I think ill stick with my umbrella, a really strong flashlight, and my prayers. sure i own other weapons of self destruction, but i cant take them on an airplane
