This past year, 2023, was a horrible year for me. I did not post one KZbin video all year. In this video, I share the heart break I experienced this year and why I needed to take time to heal. I also share what I am doing to go forward this next year and the hope I have for 2024. Thanks for watching... I'm so happy to be back.

I’m so very sorry for your loss! We have to be gentle with ourselves after such a hard experience. It’s good to see you back and I’d love to hear encouragement about scaling back and even how to keep moving forward with homeschooling during hard times.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I just got done watching my first video of your (planning high school) and it was such an encouragement to me as I sit overwhelmed and unsure if I’m ready to continue homeschooling into the high school years. This is my 5th year. My oldest is in 8th. I’m not a very organized mom and so worried I’m going to ruin her future. Instant subscriber and I will be working through your high school homeschool content. ❤

First, thank you for your kind words for my sister. I really appreciate it. Second, I am so proud of you for HSing for 5 years! That is amazing. The worries you have for the future are real, however you and your kids have what it takes to figure out the rest. Have your older teens start taking more of a prominent role in deciding what is going to happen for their school. There are so many that have HSed through the older grades and done it well…follow what they do. Learn as much as you can from everybody and have your teens do the same. You can do this. I promise. I wish I could come to your house and sit and talk with you and let you know it all will work out. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 😊🌼

I wanted to reply to this comment because I’m very similar- homeschooling 4 years with an 8th grader now, and wondering if I can homeschool through high school as also a naturally disorganized mom 😊. I just discovered your channel and it’s been so helpful! My heart does grieve the loss of your sister with you. I can’t imagine how painful that must be. Saying a prayer for you (and for you too LeafLikeOnATree) ❤

I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. Remember, my sister in Christ, how in Ecclesiastes we read about a season for everything under the sun. You absolutely did what was needed for yourself and your family. ❤

My deepest sympathies to you and your family. That is incredibly hard ❤ I would love to see more about doing high school, making a transcript, etc. I’m prepping for a new freshman in the fall and feeling a little overwhelmed.

Thank you for kind comments. I really appreciate it. I feel so lucky to have such great people like you supporting me with my heartbreaking loss. Also, you’ve got this with prepping for 9th grade. Lots and lots of moms have traveled the high school road in HSing so it can be done!! Take deep breaths and learn as much as you can. Everything is going to work out. And thank you for those ideas for videos.😊🌼

I’m so sorry for your loss…we all know though, she’d want you to love on her kiddos and live life to the fullest till you meet again. Would love to see senior year videos…college walks, tech school, how to make a transcript, how to find a job in 2024.

Thank you for sharing about your sister… it encourages me to hear that others continue to homeschool during hard times… I would love a detailed video on homeschooling the last one left at home, through the High school years, and dealing with moody teenager girls, I’m not expecting this all in one video, any help would be appreciated greatly!

Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I also love your video ideas. Mood teenagers (even boys) are not fun to take on and be with all the time. Be encouraged, it will pass and they will eventually be grateful to you for your patience and love. Thanks for watching and commenting. :)

Idea: Homeschooling large age gaps. Ive homeschooled my 13 year old daughter for 7 years (since grade 2) and now have a 5 year old boy about to start K. Which means im starting HS for first time and doing K for first time. Overwhelming! Worried about how to switch gears throughout the day so they both get what they need from me.

Great idea!! But this is awesome! You have been doing HS for 7 years already so you know the territory! Kindergarten is a breeze, really, and he won’t need too much of your time yet. Get a fun K curriculum for him and take some time with him every day but let him explore and play while you’re working with your daughter. Your kids are in good hands with you! Thanks for watching!! 😊🌼

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am a new subscriber and have been going through your very encouraging videos. I have been homeschooling for 8 years now but high school is new territory. What did you do for high school science?
@homeschooljoy

Thank you so much for your kind words about my sister. You are amazing with 8 years of HS experience!! High school is an awesome time for your teen and just remember that your role will be less of teacher and more of coach and cheerleader. Science is a subject that sometimes in HS you need outside help with or maybe I should say other HSers to do experiments with. You can do the experiments alone, at home, but usually it’s nice to have a group. So options for that are taking science classes at your local High school or local community college, get into a co-op that offers science classes, or find another HS family that wants to do high school science with you. Start your own HS science co-op!! With my kids, I’ve done the co-op route and doing it alone at home. If your teens are really interested in science, find them classes or private tutors wherever you can to help foster that curiosity and passion. Thanks so much for commenting! 😊🌼
