I want to try this, but when i ask my 13 year old daughter what she thinks and when i ask for suggestions to make things better for her, she just shrugs her shoulders 😮💨.

In Idaho, is it permissible to take economics in middle school and count it for high school?

As a fellow homeschooling mom, I can appreciate your perspective. I also agree with a lot of your method if the other person is open-minded and interested. However, if they're not, it's also okay to just leave it as, "This is what we feel is the best for our family at this time," and leave it at that. People can't really argue with that. I do disagree that we need to apologize for not talking to other family members first before our decision, even our parents. As adults and parents ourselves, we are responsible for our decisions for our own kids, whether or not our parents agree with or have given their opinion. We can seek out their opinion and advice if we trust them for certain areas, but it's not healthy to go to our parents for every issue and seek their approval when we are married and should cleave to our spouse now. Parents are still important, but their views should not take priority over what we feel as a couple that God is leading us to for our own families. If we said it rudely, then yes, we need to own and apologize for that. But people-pleasing, over apologizing, and over explaining are not healthy behaviors and can be a huge drain on our time and energy. It's taken me a long time to realize that not everyone cares to hear my why or my side or aren't open-minded to learning, even those I thought were closer. To any homeschooling moms, do the best you can, and then even if others continue to not understand or approve or are critical, you keep going with what you feel is best for your family. Live your life, and others will watch. You can do this!

Blessed to learn from you today. Thank you so much. I know I need to be more organized with our homeschool and I was praying to find a way how. True enough, the routine and schedule should be organized and be made visible. My other struggle has been record keeping, portfolio and grades--the part I least like. :( It has been very time consuming for me. Just wondering if you also have any tips on that. Thank you so much and God bless you!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am a new subscriber and have been going through your very encouraging videos. I have been homeschooling for 8 years now but high school is new territory. What did you do for high school science?
@homeschooljoy4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words about my sister. You are amazing with 8 years of HS experience!! High school is an awesome time for your teen and just remember that your role will be less of teacher and more of coach and cheerleader. Science is a subject that sometimes in HS you need outside help with or maybe I should say other HSers to do experiments with. You can do the experiments alone, at home, but usually it’s nice to have a group. So options for that are taking science classes at your local High school or local community college, get into a co-op that offers science classes, or find another HS family that wants to do high school science with you. Start your own HS science co-op!! With my kids, I’ve done the co-op route and doing it alone at home. If your teens are really interested in science, find them classes or private tutors wherever you can to help foster that curiosity and passion. Thanks so much for commenting! 😊🌼

Of course I’m going to say yes to HSing your daughter because that’s my passion. However, you as the parent need to be excited about it too. You can HS, you absolutely can. It will take some time to research and get a plan down so your daughter is successful at getting a great education at home. There is a lot of information and resources out there for HSing, but you as the parent also need to be prepared and committed. If you don’t have the time or confidence to HS, you could start by going the route of a K-12 online program. Basically it’s just public school at home. That could be a temporary way to get your feet wet and to see if having your daughter home works for you. Thanks for your comment. I know there are a lot of Moms with that same question. 😊🌼

Hello! Thank you so much for these videos about the Spelling Workout. I’m very interested in using this curriculum. The first video I watched was the walkthrough of the curriculum of you flipping through the books. It seemed like a lot of work for one week and that a child would just be trudging through getting it done. I like your simpler way of doing your lessons, I can see that it would make a student feel excited and happy to do the spelling, not overwhelmed, I can see they would have fun. I just have a clarifying question, do you only do one lesson a week then? You are just spreading that one lesson out into one week in four lessons so that they can have time to learn all the spelling words for that one lesson? If I’m correct how do you utilize the book for each grade level? Are you able to get through the entire book in one school year? If not, where do you begin the next school year…in the next level or where you left off? Thank you!
@homeschooljoy4 ай бұрын
Thank you for your questions!! 😊 I most likely do use the level for one school year and have a lesson per week. There are 36 lessons in each level and so that works well with a school year that has 36 weeks. And if we don’t get through it in a year, we start where we left off with it the next year. If you get behind, you can possibly do two lessons in one week to catch up or go through the summer break to finish. I use the month of June as a buffer month to get levels completed. That sometimes gets my kids motivated to work hard and finish so they can have their summer break start on time. If you choose to double up on lessons, great, but if not just stick to one lesson and go at their pace. Spelling is a subject you want to make sure they understand thoroughly. Thanks for watching!!! You are doing great things and I’m so proud of you!! 😊🌼

Idea: Homeschooling large age gaps. Ive homeschooled my 13 year old daughter for 7 years (since grade 2) and now have a 5 year old boy about to start K. Which means im starting HS for first time and doing K for first time. Overwhelming! Worried about how to switch gears throughout the day so they both get what they need from me.
@homeschooljoy4 ай бұрын
Great idea!! But this is awesome! You have been doing HS for 7 years already so you know the territory! Kindergarten is a breeze, really, and he won’t need too much of your time yet. Get a fun K curriculum for him and take some time with him every day but let him explore and play while you’re working with your daughter. Your kids are in good hands with you! Thanks for watching!! 😊🌼

You know I don't know since when the world has become so difficult that every single detail in life needs to be perfect and that for everyone there is always just one solution, it has become so exhausting. No wonder we have so little creativity, leadership and perseverance in this world. I am fine with everone doing their own thing, as you said it is what we think is best for our kids, that is all that counts.

I got many looks of disapproval when I answered the question of what do I do for work and said, "Laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, change diapers, feed pets....", because I chose to stay home with our kids and not work outside the home, from my women neighbors who were working outside the home. That was fun.
