Why Iger is propped up as not causing these problems and riding on a white horse to comeback and save the company is nuts. He never left. His spending on Fox and other companies has helped put disney in this mess. Not to mention the big new ride in MK is a copy of a previous ride, and 4 years of epcot construction for a planter? Universal is building a whole new park faster than it took disney to do any of that and you can even subtract a year due to what happend

The Walt Disney Company has been in a steady decline. - DEI and ESG have driven the company into the ground - The consumer is no longer the priority - Disney's "vision" is now to appease the DEI and ESG requirements in order to secure funding - Prices have skyrocketed for the consumer, directly related to it's failed business investments - The news released at D23 was uninspiring and lackluster - The parks are in great need of refurbishments, rather than investing in new DVC properties It is deeply saddening as to where The Walt Disney Company is currently at. This is NOT the Disney we knew and loved when we were children. Shame on them.

Completely agree with you on galaxy’s edge. I’m from the UK and visited for the first time in September. I’m a massive Star Wars fan who was brought up on the prequels and originals but hated the sequel trilogy, don’t get me wrong it’s an excellent themed land but it didn’t have the same impact on me as Harry Potter at universal or Pandora at animal kingdom, which is a shame because Star Wars is my favourite franchise. Star Tours is still my favourite Star Wars ride even though Rise of Resistance is excellent.

Great episode as always. In regards to the issues of galaxies edge, while I think the land is flawed, I think the issue is the execution and not necessarily the idea and concept of the land. There are a plethora of things that they could’ve done with the galaxies edge concept that are lore consistent and can appeal to every Star Wars fan.
@himynameiscorey Жыл бұрын
I agree with this thought, as much as I’m part of the camp that prefers the original Star Wars, this new generation theming would be fine enough if the land is just a little more immersion such as the aliens and droids throughout the place, and the large animal transportation ride giving the whole area more fluidity and realism.
@republiccommando1463 Жыл бұрын
@@himynameiscorey exactly, while I like the movies, the originals are my bread and butter and I enjoy the prequel era more purely because the clone wars show. Placing it in the sequel era makes it the farthest point in the timeline so far, allowing the land to have representation from all points of Star Wars, like having Hondo, the millennium falcon, and the sequel stuff. Fleshing out a new planet makes the world still exist in canon, but also have it be actually creative with its own unique story. My issue is exactly what you said, it is missing the kinetics, roaming aliens, more droids and a reputation system. Preferably, I would love to see a ride or location more in the wilderness of batuu themed to the high republic temples that were on the planet where the riders or guest see visions of the past allowing them to ride through, or meet characters from the past or visit locations and moments through these weird force areas (like the temple in lothal, the cave in dagobah, and other force sensitive areas). I know this is a bit long winded, but it honestly is kinda sad seeing the potential this concept had with the canon forward, new world vs. what was built today.

@@WDWNT no one can prove anything beyond a shadow of a doubt, remember Disney also opened very quickly in Florida too and wanted to open faster in California but the state wouldn’t let them, I believe every company worked in the interest of what people thought was right at the time and Universal wasn’t sitting around thinking oh what am I gonna do to kill people that come to my theme parks that just isn’t great business. universal like Disney opened and gave people a choice on whether they wanted to come to the theme parks or not again it was a choice that each individual made. My company opened back up shortly after as well but just like Disney and universal gave cast members the option to come back or not during all of it Also, in the same token, you could say Disney kills people every day because they let sick people into their parks that could cause other people that have compromised immune systems to be sick even at this moment and they could possibly die so I don’t think a statement of that degree should be said unless you apply it to all companies equally

I feel like disney tried to do too much in conjunction with the 50th that nothing was done well. This falls on Iger. The planning for the 50th started under his watch and then he puts a dufus in charge who only skill is to cut costs also falls on him. If you go back to all the 50th announcements, very little of it happened as they depicted. Disney promised a caddy then gave me a Hyundai and charged me for a Lamborghini. The saddest part is Epcot reimagining - a planter box and lights...wtf...and its already broke.....and it took 5 years to build....wtf times infinity and beyond. Disney needs to get some real project managers that know what it takes to build stuff in the Disney bubble and then put a coordination role over all of that to ensure they can accomplish what they set out to do. Be more strategic and spend money well and get back to over-delivering.

The effect of decisions from the top is a slow trickle down to what you see happening currently today. I'm listening to this while playing the video game with the character they have the lightsaber of 😂. I enjoy Galaxy's Edge but I still ovetall agree with everything you say. It just feels so empty and lifeless. I do think it could be saved, but it would require so much expansion that I don't think anyone could justify investing in, especially over other projects. To the theming point you get to after a few minutes, I think nothing better exemplifies it than Docking Bay 7. Starts with weird food names, changes to having the real food names below in smaller print, changes to reverse the 2 in prominence, now it's just the real food name and the themed names are just gone.

I’m ok with using Shop Disney but I find it extremely annoying that the Majority of what is available in the parks (particularly Galaxies Edge) isn’t even offered on Shop Disney. I’m also annoyed that they haven’t brought back having your purchases delivered to your resort. Am I to spend hundreds of dollars on the light saber experience, droids, etc…& then not be able to ride anything for then rest of the day? Why isn’t Disney making it easier for me to spend my money on their Merchandise?

Are you able to proffer any evidence to substantiate your claim that Brayden/Mickey Views "makes up" his "inside sources"? Poking FUN at someone's STYLE is one thing, outright calling someone a liar is something else!

I wish they would bring back the drummers and the utility suit demonstration in Pandora. Pandora is still incredible, but not as alive with entertainment as it once was. At least the other lands at Animal Kingdom got their live entertainment back!

Ah, Disney+ is still cool for some of us. Andor! Ahsoka! And then recently, Doctor Who! Of course, I've been watching the latter since the late '70s (and no, I'm not English, British, etc.). I really, really enjoyed WandaVision and the first season of Loki. It's not that I wouldn't enjoy the second season, it's just a time selection thing. My mind is not bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. But I will go back and watch Loki 2. It looks really cool (uh, my catch phrase since the 60's). And I also enjoyed your discussion. Keep up the good work.

I keep my Disney+ to support creation of Star Wars content. Occasionally I watch Marvel & some Disney/Pixar that I otherwise might not see (so in totality it keeps me more interested in the brand). But I do think D+ in general is failing to put out enough broad appeal for streaming audience. I also think what type of Movies people want to go see in the movie theaters is changing. The studio needs to adapt quantity, quality & budgets of theatrical releases.

Life impersonates life. The idea of choosing the lesser of two evils is an awful choice to make. Chapek might’ve sucked, however Iger isn’t much better if at all. New blood is needed. Someone not named Robert.

- why do we think they haven’t brought back entertainment like citizens of hollywood, the orchestra and streetmosphere? surely it can’t cost millions to bring back? they definitely have the money. - i wonder why they also made avengers campus soooo boring and basically a flop? Disney had one of the BIGGEST franchises in the plan of their hand to create something amazing and that was all they could come up with? yes marvel movies and super hero fatigue are getting real but I promise you people would have been flocking in to see in insane land dedicated to the avengers I’d argue if they did it will it could have rivaled Wizarding World. - 100% agree about the app. I’m 25 and I hated using it through my trip and remember the parks used to be more enjoyable when I wasn’t fighting for a lightening lane every 20 min so I can ride a ride. - how did guests ruin the language at galaxys edge and not hp? i don’t think it’s customers fault it’s prob Disney for being lazy sadly. look at all the theming that was meant to go into galaxy’s edge and didn’t. Just small things like that bring a touch of something extra to the park.

Next time you open candy on air, make sure you lean away from the mic while chewing, BUT make sure you open the wrapper RIGHT UP ON THE MIC. Also, make sure you crinkle and smoosh up the wrapper to make maximum noise into the mic. :D
