California's endemic Yellow-billed Magpie suffered heavily in recent years from avian flu. The question now is to establish current populations and population trends, and what factors determine those trends. Wildlife biologist and ornithologist Dan Airola has been and still is conducting counts and studies on populations in the Sacramento region that had healthy populations prior to avian flu, and this talk presents his methods and finding and what they might mean for the conservation and survival of this species.
