A bit more buzzy and raspy sounding than the red-winged blackbird.

As someone who has always suffered from very poor vision, I have always envied and admired the birds of prey, owls most of all.

I don't know why but this video scares me. First she was staring at me (at the intro) and now I'm staring at her then lastly she stares at me back (few seconds at the end)

Enchanting sound and they seem to take no notice of an otherwise thorny situation

Outstanding skill shown in this video, the fact that you were up before dawn to shoot these birds is a testimonial of your commitment to the art. The audio is great.

My late mother was fascinated by birds of prey; owls, eagles, and seagulls, if gulls can be classified as birds of prey. Last Monday would have been her 92nd birthday, and on my morning cardio walk, 4:15, in a heavily-wooded pine tree area along Marks Avenue in Fresno, these calls were exactly the sounds I heard along the west side of the block when I was walking on the east side north towards Herndon. I then turn and head back south towards my apartment, and by that time, the calls were a little farther south and maybe farther west as they sounded more muffled, and on my return trip it sounded as though there were two owls communicating with each other as their series of calls were slightly overlapping. Never heard the owl's calls before and haven't heard them since. Haunting cries to say the least, on any day, much less a day when they have a particular personal significance.
