I LOVED this! I had never heard of this short story before, and the life you brought to it made me look it up, along with its history. Thank you for that, it was a most interesting subject. I also think you should hire yourself out as a narrator for audiobooks, you have a wonderful voice for that with great "color" to your reading. I have already listened to this three times (partly because audiobooks always put me to sleep. I could NEVER be one who listens to them while driving!) but I keep coming back so I can hear it in its entirety. Love it!

River, your reading and interpretation of CPG's classic masterpiece is superb. I hope that you will interpret other works, perhaps poetry. I think your voice and cadence, which has a wonderful natural musicality, would do the Bronte sisters, Emily Dickinson, and Edgar Allen Poe a supreme justice. I would love to hear you read Washington Irving's, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," and Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter," perhaps as serials. A more modern work is Sharon Old's "Stag's Leap," a collection of poetry about love and loss--a Pulitzer Prize winner. Loved, loved, loved this, and thank you so much!!

Damn, I was so sure John and Jennie were secretly trying to poison the narrator by embedding sulfur or some kind of poisonous fungus into the wallpaper (and that Jennie and John are secretly lovers)! This would explain why John was starting to get restless around the time they were supposed to move by, and why he fainted at the end (out of guilt/being found out). Phenomenal work River! You sound like you’ve had acting training!!
