Words of Wisdom...Life has it's own mindless way of trying to beat you down. I'm 65 and been thru some shit but no more than anybody else. 16 years of acute heroin addiction (been on methadone for 12 years), mother's suicide, divorce and loss of daughter, I don't play guitar enough but it really does help. Travelled in bands (AS A BASSIST) all over the West Coast for 40+ years. That's hard damn work but it beats crying in yer beer. Artists. In all my years of making and listening to music I've gotta say SLIPKNOT is the most intense act available to humans on earth now. That's an educated observance. I'm happy to be able to hear and see that kind of emotion put to music and show. I kinda understand the dedication and sacrifices required and the tribulations of the biz. Thank you for the inspiration and for taking Rock'n'Roll to the next level. ROCK ON!!!! RIP Paul Gray

Life does not discriminate. Rich or poor, it will find you, it will test you. That's for damn sure. I don't think people realize how many people are in rough shape. This hit me one day and put in perspective how many are out there. I've battling the whole depression/anxiety thing myself and my physician sent me to the psychiatrist and psychologist. So I call to set up an appointment......the next available date was over 3 and 1/2 months.....I was completely blown away....there are so many people out there dealing with these issues that it took that long to get in there.....this is clearly a serious problem that needs to be recognized and really looked into cuz this is something affecting a huge percentage of people. They treat it singularly but when there's that many people out there dealing with this, this is something more than 1 person talking to a therapist and some meds. This is a mass issue and needs a bigger picture look. This is no coincidence....something is not right. Until this gets figured out, there's just gonna be more and more people. It's definitely getting more recognized because of things like this. So it's cool someone like Jim is willing to share his own battle and shedding light on this issue. It's not something people are comfortable talking about.

I've dealt with a lot of issues in my teenage years and up to now where I am 22. I have considered suicide, I have considered drugs and alcohol as an escape from my reality. But I started listening to Metal. It sounds cheesy but Slipknot, especially, has been here for much of the dark period of my life. And their music has helped me not to fall into drugs or anything like that. I remember reading biographies of Slipknot and watching interviews about their past and thinking to myself that I should not keep on staying in that position. I was fortunate enough to meet a special person and she motivated me and supported me and now I am in a better place. Don't lose hope whoever is reading this. There are only two outcomes, either things get better or where things don't get better, you will become stronger. Either way you will get out of this hole you are now. I will always be grateful for Slipknot. Even though I am sure Jim or other members of Slipknot won't read this, I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for their craft.

I know we ALL have our issues and problems in life, but THIS for me struck not only a nerve, but struck home for me in sooooo many ways... Ever since Slipknot came out in '99, they have always been a band and their music that has helped me get thru sooooo much dark and ugly shit in my life. And after seeing and hearing this from one of my key instrumental guitar idols, it means even soooooo much more. I have met Jim several times over the years, and he has always been a great guy and a equally huge personality to be around. I've told this him before, and he is extremely grateful to hear things like this from his fans. I know it's almost impossible to do, but I hope that one day I can have a one-on-one with Jim to really talk about things like this... having someone else you idolize going through some of the same dark and ugly shit you are means the world to people like myself. So I dont know IF Jim will see this, or if the people at The You Rock Foundation will pass this on to him, but thank you Jim! You are an even bigger person, influence and inspiration to me than ever! Keep up the amazing work man, and thank you for sharing this with me and the rest of us. First off, I absolutely love Slipknot and Stone Sour. I play different kinds of music just with a few friends and stuff, mostly acoustic and electric numbers. I really enjoyed hearing this from Jim because I have the same problem he had, I just turned 31 and have a 2 year old daughter, I had some horrible things happen to me when I was 8 to 13 years old and in high school I turned to partying with friends, I was pretty popular in my small high school years you know and smoking weed and drinking which wasn't to bad but about a year out of school in like 2005-06 I started cocaine =and pain pills because I had some close friends that were into it and it was what it was. Living in a small town its bad with pain pills and heroin..so from 06 ish to 08 I got clean because I moved about 4 hours from home because of a good job. I got laid off in lte 08 and returned home. I started hanging out with old friends which most of them were not bad people they were just opiate addicts. So I got hooked on OxyContin for 2-3 years..when I couldn't afford and got tired of that life I went to get "help" I got put on buprenorphine "subs" ,that was 2011 and I'm still on them, I have very bad anxiety as well which I understand why. Ive been wanting to getoff these for the last few years..But I don't want opiates anymore and my buprenorphine is all I take besides a drink here and there and I sometime smoke weed because it helps my anxiety. I think its lot better then being dependant on Xanax or something..Long ass story shortened I feel the same way Jim did, I cant get out of my own mind, I am always freaking out about gossip on the internet about events around the world and I actually had a severe panic attack a week and a half ago and was hospitalized because of something I saw on here and went to bed thinking about it until I was 2-3 hours laying in bed and my heart was pounding so hard, I was freaked out over something and just lost it. Plus my daughters mom which I still love cheated on me and then left me for him about September 2016, we are civil with eachother cuz our daughter but that all hasn't helped. She put me through hell, for real. This story of Jims kinda helped me think a little different and I'm grateful I saw this video. Thanks a lot, its greatly appreciated
