Dear Scott, this is such a beautiful video and I want to thank you very much for the time, effort and love you did put in. I really enjoyed our interview a lot. I even thought it was very short and I could spent some more time talking with you, but you very so professional in your approach and did not want to steal time away from me that I really was impressed beyond words of how professional you handled this all. You are a magician and a jewel in this big place of youtube and in our miniature world. Your talent is not only in your painting that you forge and find your own way and help others on their path, your talent is also in creating wonderful, positively energised content that sparks inspiration, good feelings and the will to create. I know what you do there, been there, done that, still doing it. This is unique, keep it. If you ever struggle, speak to me. No matter the reasons. I thank you very much for this beautiful portrait and would love to see more of other painters. This is really a beautiful series and with your approach a very unique thing! Keep on happy painting, Scott! Yours, Roman - Arrigato!

My favorite part about this video is that Scott could've used a painting montage, a model showcase, footage from a course, a demo reel but instead introduced the master Roman Lappat with a clip of him dancing. sometimes I come here to watch this video and cheer myself up. love it

I love this spotlight sort of video you’ve done it allows new people to the channel and hobby to see someone they might not know (which some might say is criminal) but allow for people to see more inspiring work from the hobby. I would love to see more of this in future videos.

I found out about Roman Lappat via you and/or Jon, Whenever I hear someone who I respect shout out another painter I try to take the time to check them out, I fallow Roman Lappat on Instagram now, and am constantly amazed by his work . Fallowing from that I found lots of other amazing artists (often shouted out by fellow artists), now it is all my instagram is, mini painters. No politics, no drama just amazingly talented people showing there craft. In todays troubled world it has been a beacon of stability and happiness for me. Thanks and please keep sharing. PS I am sorry Jon has better hair then you.

Hey Miniac, sorry that I don't know your real name. I just began looking your videos some weeks ago. Great to see Roman. I attended 2 of his beginnner classes. And I had so much fun these weekends. Also when I started painting around 7 years ago I only visited Massive Voodoo. Such a great site for german painters like me. I also bought one of his smaller minis. It's very simple but still so good looking... Unfortunately I hadn't so much time for painting the last years because of family and so on. Trying to paint while you're tired doesn't work very well. 😉 I'm trying to get started again with the hobby but more often then not get distracted by friends playing online asking me to join. Finally thank you for your videos! As an old metal-head love your outro most! 😄 Keep the horns up! 🤘🏼 Oliver

I took a class with Roman over a full weekend a couple of years back. And I can only second what you said about him. He is a really humble and kind person. He taught me that the most important part in painting is having fun. And that is what I do. I enjoy painting, it calms me down after a stressy day, it connects me to other people via communities and all this but I never have entered a contest.

your comment at 10:13 brought tears to my eye. I am frustrated right now because I feel like I am not making gains. Thank you for the reminder!

As soon as you paint, you gain. It is the field you pick that gains the most. If you paint and follow in numbers to a certain recipe, you will gain there and become more accurate and faster. If you choose a new path, for example a lot of experiments, for example learning to paint from primary colors to stop working from recipes you will gain there. A new path usually starts with failure and mistakes and there is nothing wrong to it. In a world where mostly visible gain in an end result matters it can lead to frustration, but when this stupid feeling is overcome you can gain in every field you want, not only miniature painting ... - Roman

When I took my first steps to blogging/posting about my own hobby work online back in 2012, Roman and Massive Voodoo was one of my earliest discoveries. Everything I have ever seen or read about the guy, he just is a wonderful human being and teacher. I still often go and browse Massive Voodoo a lot, not just when I'm looking for hobby answers, but for joy and entertainment too. Roman may still have a problem calling himself an artist, but he is one of the biggest reasons that I started to see miniature painting as something that can be more than a gaming past-time... it can be art. This is an awesome video format Scott, I'd love to see more like this.
