My understanding is that both words in this context are about the expectation that if you give you will receive. You do things in relationships in return for what the other person does. And that's not bad, that's just what a relationship is, both give and take. I don't think we even disagree about how relationships work. Did the guy in the video even suggest a ledger balancing approach to relationships? if so i missed it. But my eyes kinda glazed over when he got out the whiteboard.

Dating coaches like this really do encourage guys to overthink it, like you said, and it’s very transactional and self-centered. It’s not “I want to learn more about this girl and see if we connect,” it’s “I must prove to this girl that I am a worthy mate - and also a competitive eater???” I guarantee you these men don’t do this when they’re building friendships with other men, because you can’t metagame a real connection. Human relationships are too spontaneous. But there’s the problem - too many men aren’t dating women in hopes of a happy relationship with a fellow human.

Pro tip never give someone you just met your credit card. If your extremely unlucky they either outright steal the card or write down all the numbers on it. Second that's a lot of preasure and stress on the part of the person the card is being handed off to. Third this is a pointless gesture because you also need the pin to actually pay with the card in a lot of places. And again if they have your card and pin they can just start spending your money.

it's so odd because he's technically hit the right points in terms of actions but has such wrong reasoning -a guy buying cactus pajamas is endearing because "oh he likes something really silly that's sweet" -a guy being comfortable eating a lot on a first date isn't a "demonstration of abundance" but it puts you at ease because you feel like they're acting naturally around you -a guy ordering a lot of different kinds of food is just fun and interesting, and yes, it would be nice to not have to pick between the waffles and the breakfast burrito -a guy tipping well just shows that you're probably? a nice person to everyone which is good.

The first date with my husband… i told him id make him a nice dinner at home and he would pay for the ingredients. On the way to the store he looks at his account and is like “shit…” cuz he didnt have as much left in his account as he thought he did so I paid for it. And when i made the dinner i slipped and accidentally cut off the tip of one of my fingers (it took a while to heal but its fine now) We’re happily married now, have a son… im more careful with knives but hes the handy diy guy and i take care of the finances.

What would be going through my mind, as a woman, if I were on a date with the guy from video 1 (and yes, Joinen, they were red flags 🤣): 1. Do not plan anything = his actual date cancelled and I’m his plan B 🚩 or else he is just completely disrespectful of my own time and schedule 🚩🚩 2. Demonstrate as many masculinity characteristics as possible = his dad didn’t love him because he was bad at football. He feels weak and needs external validation of his worth really badly. 🚩or maybe his dad did love him… he’s just got a really small (redacted) 3. Complain about being tired/hungry and eat like you haven’t eaten in days = he doesn’t know how to take care of his basic needs. It’s likely I’ll be responsible for that in the future. 🚩or else he’s just one of those people who thinks complaining about how much they work makes them look good 🚩 4. When you order excessive amounts of food, don’t take home the leftovers = this guy is extremely wasteful with his money and food. He is correct in one thing - both are precious resources - which is why wasting them is such a 🚩 5. Take control so she doesn’t have to think = 1950 called and it wants its 🚩 back 6.
