"Best" thing about combo players isn't even when they call out other decks. Their annoying-ness really peaks when someone tries their favorite deck for the first time. They'll make sure to let you know every single time you took a wrong step in their combo-spreadsheet or when you somehow don't know every word of every card by heart.

The Symphonic Warrior Machina deck I run is what I would consider a combo deck. Though its combos are somewhat straightforward. Generally, you'll use either Machina Gearframe or Symphonic Warrior DJJ to search out a second level 4 machine (Machina Unclaspare for Gearframe or Synthess for DJJ) so you can summon Gear Gigant X. Whichever side (Machina or Symphonic Warrior) you use to summon Gear Gigant X, you then can search out the other using his effect and then you go from there. Symphonic Warriors are good for stocking up your hand and building quick boards, while Machina are effective for their big bodies and graveyard setup (Machina Unclaspare is a Foolish Burial on summon for Machina, pitching Citadel or Ruinforce quite often). I'd say the deck's pretty easy to grasp, but that's a subjective opinion. Though I'd think it's easier to grasp than the likes of D/D/D, Synchron, or Dragon Link

@@TheChubbyLuigi ClownyKnight (KZbinr) made a video on it after one of his Raid Raptor videos. One of his friends initially built the deck, but ClownyKnight posted some game play of it. You'll want to look for ClownyKnight 2.0 or something to that effect since his original channel had been hit with unfair copyright hits. Pretty entertaining videos for decks. The core itself is pretty cheap. The only hard ones is like AA Zeus and other really generic staples that you could add, though his list is really pure (not a whole lot of Hand Traps, if any). AA Zeus is optional since the deck has ways of clearing boards on its own.

Man each type of players have good or bad point, control players are matches are very interactive but they also test your knowledge of the game every time you play them, which get kinda tiring very fast, combo players the one with out the ego boost are also really fun of challenge when you can break their boards without using floodgate cards removing each interruption one by one until they have exhausted their resources and you can finally start winning is a satisfying feeling (sometimes) and stun players…well…I mean…they are fun to interact with…outside of game…? Maybe…

First bar of the hierarchy I fall into but it's usually not me imitating a character, and certainly not for every card. I just really like my boss monsters. If you want the worst example of this kind of person, watch sykunno play synchro. Also trap trix is not an interactive deck.

Maybe it's considered mid-range like despia, swordsoul and Mathmech. These have shorter combos, not the most oppressive endboards and good resource management. A mix between control and combo. I don't know much about marincess (I've never come across it on MD) so I don't know it is considered mid-range.

Wait, combo players actually learn their long combo? When I play Infernity, the most I plan in my combo is either special summoning Archfiend for the first time, or using Archfiend to search Mirage before I summon Saryuja. Like most of the time I just go with the flow. And I do the same with other combo decks like Dragon Link.
@Argenta_Rosa

That's because there are 2 types of combo decks. Linear combo decks, which have a straightforward combo and gameplan. And non-linear combo decks, whose combos and gameplan constantly change throughout a turn/duel.

@DarkCT

just for calling out combo, ill take my lumps on this one, though seeing midrange decks in the control selection is... ehh. to me the end point between some combo decks and some stun is hardly any different, the thing is the combo player decides to take me on a trip to the point they can monke counter every play i have while also throwing cards around. the combo's aren't even impressive anymore when I see that same deck executing them every time with slight variation. Stun players can be funny, when their own stun cards hamstring their own plays or they show their hands to soon. stun just to stun is aggravating, but I also quite like stall players who have a purpose to their actions. feels like trying to escape a snare before it's to late and there's at least a question on whether or not i can, compared to certain other playstyles where depending on my opening hand+ next draw i know the games flat over.

I would say that dueling anime style is only cringe if you do it a certain way: - misplaying the game or making illegal plays because you fail to realize that actual duels do not work like in the show (especially Duel Monsters) - dramatically reading the full effect or list of effects for cards that any player who isn't a total newbie/beginner or a fresh returning player after a long hiatus from the game would likely know and would be reasonably expected to know - being over the top enough with your theatrics that you potentially are being disruptive or distracting to other players in other duels Things like these are indeed cringe. However, other aspects of it can be fine: - dressing/cosplaying as a character or monster from one of the series arcs - doing some theatrics (just not going too overboard with them) - playing decks built around a single archetype or certain combinations of archetypes to be modeled after characters in one of the shows (ex. playing an Elemental Hero deck to be like Jaden from GX or a combination Ojama + Armed Dragon + XYZ machine deck to be like Chazz Princeton from GX)

All decks are control because the ultimate goal is to control the game, the difference is how you do it. It can be by leaving a strong board after a combo or slowing down the flow of the game with stun. This is a spectrum. Just my opinion.

control players are cool, but like people confuse stun for control quite often. It isn't "umi control" its "umi stun". You use floodgates. Its stun. Also cards like eradicator epidemic virus are floodgates. Instead of controlling the pace of the game. They rip resources out of your hand/field. It's basically a protos for spells/traps which is a floodgate. Labyrinth is a stun deck, not control. Umi "control" is umi stun, hell even decks like b.a. and traptrix can be considered stun if you like to flip anti spell fragrance. I wish people would understand the difference between your deck being stun and control.
@otterfire4712

Correct me if I'm wrong, Plunder Patroll would fit under Control by that standard. Favoring for spot removal and Lys's monster negate, looking to out value the opponent over time.

I feel like you're being needlessly reductive. Is Zombie Synchro a Stun deck just because it runs Zombie World? Is Altergeist Stun just because it runs Secret Village? Is any Rank 4 deck Stun for being able to Bagooska Pass? Whether a deck is Stun or Control should be determined by its primary gameplan and victory condition, not whether it runs/has access to a single floodgate. Stuff like Traptrix setting up Anti-Spell is mainly a backrow protection option, not a wincon.
@Thegayzay
@Thegayzay Жыл бұрын
@@DGrayEX for a deck to be stun, you must need to run the floodgate. If you NEED to run gooska, your deck is stun. If you NEED to run zombie world your deck is stun.

control players can go to the bottom. like, UNDER the pyramid. unless they stick to only ever playing control at sanctioned events, and even then try to keep it only to nats and worlds please, yugioh players are not masochists. well.... everyone except maybe cimo anyway. also no, control players dont want to play yugioh, they want to play solitaire. they want to do all the things, while preventing you from even normal summoning. heres looking at you, labyrinth netdeck number 420,690. why are you even in rookie rank/locals weekly? I say this not as a combo player (though, funni board state do go brrr) but as the star ontop of the christmas tree, a casual player who just wants to have fun with a dumb old deck thats barely rogue at best and unfathomably ass at worst. just.... let me feel like im doing something. I know im going to lose, just dont booli me.

They may have better pacing, but they're also hardly any better overall. Konami America has always been greedy, and YGO the card game has always been doomed by its marketing tool status.
