To those that don't understand (fair warning: long) Charlie's Exodia deck focused on summoning "Number 59: Crooked Cook". This card is invincible so long as it's the only card that Charlie controls on his field. Also, Charlie must Xyz Summon (dw about that) "Crooked Cook" with "Right Hand Shark", which grants it battle immunity. This deck aims to stall for eternity, as "Crooked Cook" can't be passed by unless it's sacrificed, somehow. With a monster that can't be affected at all, now, he sits, slowly and tediously drawing his and, until he completes "Exodia, the Forbidden One", and wins the Duel automatically. Edit for future reference: yes, this Deck is very gimmicky, and it can also be bypassed surprisingly easily. You can sacrifice your opponents monsters with cards such as "Kaiju's", which will bypass its invincibility as it's being sacrificed. Also, if you can negate its effects *before* it arrives on the board with cards like "Skill Drain", which negates all monsters effects, "Crooked Cook" will not be unaffected by other effects. One last trick is if you can somehow put a monster on the opponent's field, such as "Knightmare Corrupter Iblee", it will be another card on that side of the field, so "Crooked Cook" stops being invincible. Charlie plays a risky game with the Cook.

@@ChefBubbaNips there is an archetype called Kaijis which basically bypass these kinds of monsters by tributing monsters on the opponent’s side of the field. There’s also cards that force your opponent to do an action like evenly match, but that doesn’t work in this situation and are few and far between

I pulled 2 alt art eldlitch and made a crazy eldlitch deck before I ever went into a game online (you get so many crystals and UR shards at the start you can basically craft whatever deck you want.) There's a few ways around crooked cook to be fair but if you didn't know you would be fighting it that doesn't really matter since you might not have any way in your deck. You can tribute it, you can use it as fusion material. Infinite impermanence negates all effects on its lane so it'd stop being immune. If you can get a monster on your opponents board then it stops being invincible. You can piercing damage it. You can go around it like with toon cards can attack directly. Could effect damage kill him if you're using one of those decks. Plus he's only trying to exodia win so if you get him to discard a piece then deck him out you'll be fine. But it's still very annoying if someone does this and you're running a normal deck that wins through battle and you don't have any specific counters.

Just for reference: There is 3 ways to out Crooked cook: Firstly cards called Kaiju, which are Monsters that you can summon on the opponents side by tributing their Monsters. Since this isnt an effect but a summon, cook isnt unaffected by this and just dies Next we have cards that affect the player. There arent many of these, some of them are banned, Evenly comes to mind but evenly will never banish cook since they have a single card only. The note here is, the card has to read "your opponent does somethin" as example "your opponent has to tribute a monster" would out crooked cook Lastly, and this is the biggest and most relevant one, We have gotten a link 5 not too long ago in Master Duel which reads "you can use one of your opponents monsters for the link summon of this card". Again since this isnt an effect, cook can be used for the summon normally. And this card is actually good and run in many meta decks

Man, this brought back some PTSD. I had to deal with the exact same combo once. Dude summoned Crooked Cook and just sat there, trying to deck me out. That lasted for some 30 turns until I managed to get some cards from my graveyard into my deck and suddenly I had more cards in the deck than he did. I was playing Dark Magician, btw. That's when the guy panicked and started summoning everything he could think of. I had my whole field out (Dark Magician the Dragon Knight, Dark Magical Circle and Eternal Soul are the only cards tha matter for this story). Once he had other monsters on the field I banished the cook with Circle after which he promptly surrendered. I will never understand people like that. Dude didn't play at all. He just made that one monster and waited for the deck out. Only when he was the guy that was about to deck out did he start to do something.

Crooked Cook doesn't mean that you can't play anything else completely. As long as it's the only card on the field you can still activate spell cards to draw and Crooked Cook would still retain it's immunity because said spell card wouldn't remain on the field after activation, it would get sent to the Graveyard. Your REAL WORRY is if your opponent chains in response to any activations cause the moment of activation is when Crooked Cook is vulnerable. (Cause said activated card would remain on the field if your opponent decides to chain) Add some Magical Mallets and Reloads to your deck if you want to get Exodia faster. Also, Blue Dragon Summoner + Wonder Wand is a good combo to search Exodia pieces and still draw from your deck. Equip Blue Dragon Summoner with Wonder Wand, use Wonder Wand's effect to send Blue Dragon Summoner to the GY to draw 2 from the deck and then Blue Dragon Summoner's GY effect activates allowing you to add a VANILLA Exodia piece straight to your hand (not main Exodia).

If you want a similar card but cannot actually cannot be destroyed you should do the XYZ Rhongomyniad one turn. It's unaffected by card effects and your opponent cannot normal/special summon. It is also pretty consistent as well.

As a Dark World player I really wanna encounter more Crooked Cook players just so I can turn the tables back on them. Dark World has a card called Ceruli Guru of Dark World that when discarded by effect summons itself to the opponents field and then lets the Dark World player discard a card. So you discard Ceruli, summon it to the opponents field which deactivates Cook’s effect protection since he’s no longer the only card on the field then through Ceruli’s effect you discard either a Grapha Dragon Lord of Dark World, Goldd Wu-Lord of Dark World or a Danger! Bigfoot and you can pop Cook no problem
