I'm subscribed to both capG and Dkayed. I think it's disingenuous to not talk about HOW Dkayed got the deck lists and whether that information was already public. This very much frames it as Dkayed is some sort of master hacker spy man who obtained the deck lists mysteriously and posted them. If a guy with a popular website posts already public information for money and attention, I don't see the problem. Everyone crying about morality and integrity can go interview the participants and see how many of them admit to looking through the deck-lists leaks. If all the participants are playing fairly like they say they are, then the "leaks" had no affect on the participants.

This was unironically a win. Had some people but not everyone known there was a data leak there would have been some real questions about the integrity of the event. Giving everyone access to avoid only a few having illicit access is great. This is why most games have open lists for their highest competitive events.

I agree with that sentiment. I do understand why people are mad but if you think about it, if Dkayed didn't do it people would never know that it could be done and the problem would never be solved. Let's be honest too, someone was probably already doing it from behind doors and informing their competitor.

I agree with this for the most part. Not only that but he’s a content creator not a Konami employee or an event judge. He had content, so he posted it which makes perfect sense. However, his response to allege that a current competitor is a cheater without any evidence was bad taste. It only made him look extremely scummy imo. Though I do think he makes great content for the game and positively contributes in many other ways.

Why does this matter? You could say that konami wants the decklist to be secret but so? If a small group of people were gonna cheat anyway why not make it open. Most games have moved towards this model anyway and knowing your opponents decklist does change the way the game is played but if you can't tech in new cards before the event to counter then it's not really a problem. The more skilled players will still win

idk, I like what he did. In Pokemon, you know the opponents team, in sports you know the other teams strength and weaknesses, etc I get that a surprise factor (luck) on top of the draws (luck again) may help people get wins, but in theory, if you both know your decks, you know what to play around and how to strategize. I think that makes matches more interesting than not. The playing field is even.

Who cares, MD WCS is a joke btw. Why in the highest competitive event? They always use random coin tosses for every round, and each round has at least 9 or more duels. Even without Dkayed, the tournament format is still a joke. . Also, calling him to do the leaks before the tournament starts isn't true. But we can say he leaked the decks before the event ended. He use Untapped to check the deck. The only way to check the deck with Untapped, is if Konami already released the Replay or Live Duel from Public Replay feature in MD. Konami can easily delay the release of the Replay/Live Duel in the Master Duel game, and monopolize the broadcast only in their Twitch or YT to increase their viewer and engagement. This guy leaking everything and you can always find Untapped in every Master Duel videos for very long time. This is beyond a "stupidity" when Konami didn't even try to prevent and protect the deck list from leaking. . People said Dkayed only cares about money, and I know, Konami also does that. But at least Dkayed does the job slightly better. He is a necessary evil to slap Konami's face to make Konami understand how badly they manage this game. YGO isn't my competitive game, and from my experience, Konami's management is beyond garbage. . I am more impressed with the fact that this community rarely talks about how badly Konami manages the game in general. People only say something like, "Please make the cards cheaper Konami, so I can grab the broken cards without breaking my wallet". Whether they are afraid of the risk or they just don't have any idea about "good management" because most of them only know about YGO.

When Dkayed was trying to justify what he did, he forgot something: this alters THE GAME BEING PLAYED. This is similar to being forced into a new format right before worlds in the Pokemon VGC (main series Video Games) format before 2023. Not as much of a change, but in competitive, my counterpoint is that it was something they had to prepare for, Yu-Gi-Oh has a ban list instead of rotating cards, and as such as PART OF THE GAME'S DESIGN hidden tech cards are fair play. By showing deck lists, you invalidated almost all of the hard work for those techs, and I'm sure it took a long time to reach out everything. If time is money, DKayed is in debt

Small hot take, Mtg has had open deck list events for years, i don't think that showing a deck list will invalidate a players skill and tech, in a lot of cases it has been beneficial for some games in MTG tournaments since you can bluff even more now that your opponent are expecting a tech card that you might never see, this for the most part shows adaptability and pure game knowledge, I think that the game would benefit from having some amount of open deck list events since it reduces the luck factor making it more of a skill base game and reduces the feel bad moments. Again just a hot take, not trying to get people mad or anything.

Therefore, nobody would be able to publicly gain that sort of information, via the replays konami put up for us to publicly view. So what dkayed did was level the playing field. Personally this whole situation feels like a whole lot of nothing. Nobody really should be leaking deck lists but the people that participated aren't such weak duelists that leaked deck info would matter enough for them to lose. To be fair to Untapped they never backpedaled. They basically said the way their app was used goes against their philosophy and purpose for the tool. Which is absolutely true to my knowledge. I use untapped to view my own decklists and game stats but I never considered that it could be used to cheat in a tournament because it’s never been advertised as that type of product.

The issue there is scouting is not prohibited, does it give some players an advantage, yes 100%, but it's not against the rules, handing someone their opponents entire deck list, while they have no clue, is an issue, scouting is an entirely different problem

I could understand if it was the TCG, but where the game is at theses days I would consider it mostly solved and that would be mitigated with the availability of cards to players.

@mammothslayerentertainment8260 that would be fine if these decks were more predictable, the issue for the world championship is its a 3v3 and teams share a card pool, only 3 cards designated can be played in all decks, so if your deck hard loses to something like nibiru, in a regular match you have to keep that in mind, when you know that the deck your playing against doesn't have nibiru, you no longer have to play around them having it

This is a "you can't see the forest for the trees" argument. 1) Neither Dkayed nor any single individual should dictate how a tournament goes, it was 100% incorrect action. 2) Judeo is sponsored by Untapped, so it's really hard to believe they didn't already use it before the leaks. Even still, just the knowledge of the app would incentivize every team to look for it so they are not the only ones at a disadvantage. There is no way to prove which players used it and this shouldn't be the point anyway. 3) The Pokemon solution is "open team sheets" with every decklist given to the opponents. It would be great if it had been known beforehand, altering the deckbuilding process entirely. Leaks would become obsolete, however, we are missing the excitement of unknown interactions (as viewers), while the players aren't rewarded for playing around potential interruptions. Prime examples here are Gamma, Nibiru, and Talent which are by far the most affected cards where a player would perform an entirely different sequence if they weren't informed of the full decklists. 4) The "bad" solution would be to monitor player contact during Day 1, so players won't be informed of potential leaks. It is a bit drastic compared to the previous solution, but at least it guarantees everyone will be on the same playfield. Informing your teammates on tech choices is perfectly fine. But even without Untapped, you and I could have written down as much of the decklists as possible and then dm them to our favorite player, so in the end we face the same issue that shouldn't exist in the first place. 5) This is an issue that happens IRL as well, with scouting being extremely prevalent during the later rounds of Regis/Nats/YCSs. There have been countless times people looking over during siding, where they practically see the entire decklist and then can inform their friends. Ignoring this and putting all the blame on Dkayed is hiding our heads in the sand. 6) Again, I consider this a horrible action because Konami through the replay system hid the decklists so they were never intended to be public during the event. And NONE yugituber/influencer/player/3rd party has the right to decide whether to publish them or not. But since this already happened, instead of focusing on the morality of said action (it was outright bad, no question here) we should focus on protecting those players and their efforts by preventing this situation entirely.

I think one thing that can help the game is if the winner of the game’s biggest official tournaments had the option to have their own custom card be made an official release for the actual TCG/OCG (Similar to what MTG does). Why’s there so many people screaming at Dkayed for essentially exposing Untapped for being a way to cheat? From what I’m reading in other comments and all it even sounds like some of the big players who were sponsored had highlighted the ability to see that stuff on their channel before and nobody said anything. Is Dkayed just…hated for other reasons and people are just screaming at him cause they have some salt or anger about something else he’s said or done? Cause not only is it a stupid double standard, if Untapped didn’t mean for people getting to see the decklists of others, it wouldn’t be information left on their site. Am i one of the only few who just didnt like Dkayed just by him existing? Far too egotistical, thinks he's doing everything for the betterment of the game, has ADVOCATED FOR CHEATING IN THE PAST, and now leaking information about tournaments. Argue it all you want, even if it is public information, there is absolutely NO reason to do this. You not only take away the last *slight* information you can hide from your opponent and leave them on that "oh shit" moment, but that also means that people can look at the decks and just go like "oh? Yeah so hes got this and this. So i dont have to worry about this or this." It horribly affects the surprise of what the other person is playing because they could have had some new boost nobody knew about, and they just ruined it by making it public. Dkayed is a disgrace and has been for years. He has no leg to stand on and does not deserve the right to defend himself. I'd love to see Konami take legal action and shut his platform down for good.

N3sh was right about his concern on the integrity of the tournament. A lot of the people who competed also has admitted it has helped them more than harm them. Jesse even said he knew who to take the maxx c challenge on because he knew who had no payoffs for it. MDG said it was more helpful than harmful. As for the Asian players who probably had no idea about this? We have to get some perspective about that but they have to be pissed about this

The way dkayed adressed the issue was definitely wrong, trying to seem like he is doing a righteuos thing, but i also wouldnt call what he did wrong. If they were able to access the decklists without any illegal activities involved, then the competitors would have been able to do the same, if they knew how to do so. So while it isnt exactly nice, i dont see a problem with publishing already publicly accessable information.

If you protect your own experience of watching a movie blind then that's the end of it. In a competition your opponents can still look up leaks and use the information against you. You have to deal with it even if you did everything right yourself. Imagine if you didn't go to watch the movie spoilers and someone who did came and yelled out the twist ending to mess with you. It'd be weird if you complained about it and someone tried to blame you for going to the site when it was the other guy making it your problem, right?
