me too. i have some 63 slingerland with re rings and it gives a nice percussive thud. seems a lot of drum builders are going to thin bearing edges whuch give a timbale effect! then the drummer has to use tape or moongel to dampen it.. drum builders should bring rerings back!

I'll send you a link to the photo album so you can see the guts. I made this one a bit over-complicated. The rollers are held captive and the end cap has to be removed in order to change their spacing. Bill from Calderwood Percussion made a more bare bones version with some sweet conveyor belt rollers and slotted end caps. facebook.com/CalderwoodPercussion/photos/a.289060007894611.1073741826.185206291613317/954675484666390/?type=3&theater

Any way you can give is a breakdown on the shell cutting jig you use. Can't figure out the way you have the rollers attached.
@BALES5000
@BALES5000 5 жыл бұрын
I started a jig/fixture video last year, but lost interest. I should revisit that. The end away from the fence comes off. 2 star knobs lock it in place and the 1 knob on the top secures it to the bottom deck of the fixture. Both ends have sets of drilled holes - sections of metal pipe was cut and inserted to act as bushings. The threaded rod, which runs through the center of the rollers, inserts into those holes. I'll be making a new version this winter. It will be larger, more modular, and use steel conveyor rollers, which will drop into slots instead of the captive hole design.
