I actually didn't know about this band, I was looking up stuff about Elisa Lam and discovered this. I think it's quite touching that the Zolas wanted to show that she was a real person living life RIP Elisa

This is one of my favourite music videos for that reason, I often feel like when people talk about her death they forget she was also a person with a life like you or i. It's a sad thing that a lot of these unsolved mysteries the internet obsesses over often end up with the people involved being dehumanised just so some armchair detective can say their bizarre conspiracy theory is more correct than the other bizarre conspiracy theories. Don't get me wrong I wanna see these cases solved too, but so justice can be done for people like Elisa and her family not so more people can discuss whether or not she was possessed by a demon in the CCTV footage, it's just disrespectful. People really need to stop treating a young girl's tragic death as if it were some shitty creepypasta, just my two cents. RIP Elisa

I have just discovered Dark Poutine, even though I live in Langley B.C. and have been listening to their back catalogue, I had never heard of the Zolas or the podcast. I had known about the Elisa Lam disappearance and suspicious death, but both Dark Poutine, and the director for The Zolas video, have done an admirable job in their respective artforms.

Cool that they did this. Her memory isn’t and won’t be forgotten. So many of us can relate to her feelings of depression and isolation. She’s more than a case. I hope she’s genuinely at peace.

Although this is a glorified, fictionalized idea of what Elisa Lam's final day was like, it's still nice to know that - even if only in the form of a posthumously filmed music video - she found some much-deserved happiness before her death. Rest in peace Elisa.

Can you explain this? I don’t know the background of the song.
@AmIJorge Жыл бұрын
@@Majic88888 I don't think the song itself is based on the story of Elisa Lam, but the music video certainly is. Elisa Lam was a university student visiting Los Angeles who was found deceased under extremely strange circumstances. She was found inside a water tank on top of Cecil Hotel, which sparked a lot of speculation about her death. Nobody really knows exactly what happened, and there were a lot of conspiracy theories regarding the CCTV footage of her on an elevator acting strange. This music video is meant to remind people that she was a real person and shouldn't simply be written off a mentally ill person or a drug abuser. The video shows more of what her experience on Los Angeles might have been like, basically humanizing the victim of strange circumstances. Sorry if any of this isn't written super well or if there are any inaccuracies.

I want to believe in time travel That one day I’ll come back for you. Find you in the campus library aisles and I’d say Oh my ancient Mars x4 When the rusty rocks were covered in groves And the pyramids foretold acidic snows All was still breathing like my hands on your toes and I said Oh my ancient Mars x4 Several billion golden years ago I lost a planet that I loved to the cold Civilization blooms and then it erodes. And that’s it Oh my ancient Mars x4 Oh my ancient mars x4

Is this song a ballad about a Martian refugee because it is pretty brilliant idea
@bradnowall30010 жыл бұрын
There is a 'theory' over a million years ago, there was a civilization on mars. A perfect storm of events happened which destroyed the planet. Some say a small group made it to earth. Others scattered in other dimensions… It is a pretty interesting one.
@CI-dh1rl10 жыл бұрын

Amanda Flores Well the album came out in 2012... So did they write it for her, and she died a year later, is that what you are saying?
@amandaflorez22519 жыл бұрын
dan mac its possible that music video was inspired for it the song might be something else but RIP to her but im kinda sketched out considering the circumstances she was in before she passed away and that eerie video of her last seen I believe the music video is trying to paint a picture of her last moments living in LA hence why you see the women going in the water in the music video and you can see the same hotel she stayed at the Elevators too are shown at the near end

Yeah, most likely they were queued updates, as tumblr allows you to do that. Another theory is that it may have been updated via her missing phone, which is suspected to have been stolen around her time of death. And finally, of course, somebody could just have hacked into her account.

what is this music video suppose to be about?
@ianmichalski79977 жыл бұрын
Matanumi It's about the last days of Elisa Lam. A young girl who spent several days at a hotel in Las Angeles and after suddenly disappearing she was found dead on the roof of the hotel floating in the water tank. Mystery still surrounds many aspects of the girls death. Especially considering surveillance footage of her taken Inside one of the hotels elevators. People have said Elisa Lam is acting strangely in the video and many find it very unsettling to watch. The video is widely available on KZbin. I think for this video the band wanted to show her as a young girl on a fun trip and put aside the tragic mystery.

it's kind of heartbreaking that the zolas chose to humanize her.
@jackselle46075 жыл бұрын
lyinsroar heartbreaking but important. The media like reddit made her life a farce, there was a real girl, who before the elevator footage wanted to travel, find love and contemplate life. She was also someone who had very serious mental health issue.
