It's not pro gear, but the ST224 is a creative playground!

I had this one and it gave me really good times. Never pushed it to it's full potential, great machine.

I remember seeing a few episodes of GearFacts, somewhat recently, that looked really crisp, as if they were edited using new software or something... I was worried that might become a thing, but luckily, the videos have retained the classic look - like the kind of thing I'd only find on SBS, at 2 in the morning, in 1998, after a few gold tops. Much like the Zoom SampleTrak; polished and new isn't always necessary for something to be fun and interesting.

Yes Gearfacts. Nice quick demonstration. The Zoom Sampletrak ST224 is an amazing budget sampler. The effects on it is where it really shines. Resampling to double up effects, bit rates that make it smooth like a 2000 or crunchy like a SP1200. It's a very handy tool to have. I wonder how it would stand up next to a Boss SP303? What do you think?

I remember when these were released and wanting one but not having the disposable income to buy, so trying to convince a mate to get one instead 😁 It didn't work as he was more than happy with his SR-16 ( was pushing it on him as a sampling drum machine. It still has an amount of gas factor to it but they sell for way more than what they are worth. I think they cost about $350 when they were current, now they are going for an average of $500!
