I had about 6 titles ready for this video but decided to go with the one I thought of while pressing upload.
Here's the link to the survey I referenced: whats-in-a-game.com/blog/surve...

Solid analysis! The Zora and Gerudo quest lines are disproportionately more developed than the other two.

The intended way into Rito Village is definitely through Tabantha Frontier - unless you save it for late enough that Tabantha Tundra and the Hebra Mountains are an easy walk in the park.

Wait people hated the yiga clan stealth mission? I loved it ☹

Maybe widely disliked is overstating it, but most people I've seen weren't really fans of it. It was a bit too much of a difficulty spike and it's never fun for standard enemies to just magically become invincible just for the purpose of a stealth mission.

Went back to this video. Still a very solid analysis! I do have a bit of critique if you'd like to hear it. You are going through a lot of your points very quickly in your editing. It might be worth slowing down the pacing a little bit in the future. Add more pauses between points and paragraphs and let some of those statements just sit for a moment. Keep up the good work!

Just got back to this now, thanks for coming back to the video! I've kinda developed a very quick pace over time and it's something I'm really comfortable with, but I can see where it might make it hard to follow at points. I'll keep it in mind.

It's wierd to me that considering the four champions, the rito aren't the ones who are the most unsure of link as a hero. Even ignoring revalli, the rito are somewhat implied to be a hardworking race, as they aren't as immune to the conditions they are in as other races and can't even fly properly if the wind isn't in their favor. The only race arguably on the same level being the gerudo, and even then the gerudo have a clear heretical power structure politically, while as far as were concerned all that's required to be chieftain in the rito is to be the best. It's essentially their nature to work hard to be as strong as they are. From that lens, it makes sense why revalli would be snobby towards link, not just because he's a egotistical snob, (although that's likely true) but because it's in his blood not to accept power just to be given to you. So why do the zora, even if it's just one character, have to go through the arc of trusting in link? Why isn't there an arc about the rito not trusting in his destiny and needing to prove himself in order to gain their trust? Hell, why isn't there an arc like that for all the divine beasts in some form? Why aren't more of the zora disillusioned with link including the father of his dead daughter? Why can't the gorons have a sort of test of strength to make link prove himself? Why can't the gerudo get over their sexism? While not necessary, these potential arcs help build the narrative of a previously disillusioned and unaccepting world slowly becoming more hopeful, (which is kind of what botw's story is all about) which would more than make up for the fact you start long after the story began.

Thank you. The problems you describe are a lot of why I was hugely disappointed in this game. It felt like everything interesting happened before you even start to play and now just get a few cut scenes hinting at what happened

That fact really brought my opinion of the game way down compared to the ton of 10/10 BEST GAME EVER everyone was shouting. It was like you did everything cool in the first 30 hours and then there was just a sea of lesser and largely forgettable content for the rest of the game.

I fully agree with the title. I expected the rest of the game to be super baller, but it's kinda meh in relation. Very fun, but I actually never finished it. Beat all the divine beasts then wanted to try to get more stuff, and got bored. Oops. I started again and did the bird one first, revalis gale is OP when you don't have many stamina vessels.

Shrek Super Slam, Space Race, Jack and Daxter Trilogy, Rocket Power, KH1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank 3, and X-Men Apocalypse. All games of my childhood. All games my siblings and I connected over. Every game was something we each played alone, or played together. So much fun to be had in Shrek Super Slam... So many memories :,) (Yes... yes I did post twice. I will not apologize)

great video but you talk to fast for me. pacing feels perfect on 0.75x speed though lol edit: some more thoughts. this video really comes into its own near the end, considering Link's relationship with Mipha and the consequences/environment around it, really not something I'd thought about much since I really didn't like the whole Zora questline (and still don't, wayyy too railroaded without crazy stategies as mentioned earlier in the video). also it's adorable that Link's most promenent memory of Mipha is that one.

i didn’t read the dialogue. The first tower I activated was the central tower right before going into hyrule castle. Ruta was the last beast I beat. I cryonised into zora.

Really well made vid. Maybe Mario Odyssey next? Also, how do you feel about the Nickelodeon remasters? I'm looking forward to them remastering The SpongeBob Movie game; Lights, Camera, Pants; and Creature of the Krusty Krab. If they remaster BfBB, they have to improve the difficulty progression, improve the writing, improve the voice acting, and add new areas. Right now, it's just a regular, functional 3D collectathon platformer that doesn't do enough to stick out from the crowd. I like the games I listed above more since they take more risks to develop something great. Now I know I'm starting to sound like Chester from C&B Corp, but I'm really starting to see things his way.

I'd be happy with even the smallest of updates honestly, I very much like the original game and would be fine with some lighting fixes and resolution adjustments. Maybe even a song select actually. If we're being greedy (meaning this won't happen) I'd be down to see the cut Patrick's dream level and the final boss segments thrown back in.

(quite old but the internet is eternal, let's go) v torn on the streamlining by narrowing the focus to a forced path, gear removal, etc. mainly, this game cemented my certainty that exploration for the sake of it has immense appeal to me personally, above almost any other aspect in games, and while this can manifest in ways that aren't based on environment (mechanics exploration and exploring the extent of pushing the limits of systems also apply), BotW hits that kind of exploration better than almost any other game--and the caveat of 'almost' is there because i foolishly did not snatch a copy of _no man's sky_ when it was all exploration, no other content. i kick myself for that to this day, because that seems right up my alley. when BotW forced me into a narrowed focus for a goal with challenge is when i least liked the game. period. i did the zora beast and no others, i have never beat the game and honestly i don't care to bother. i _visited_ every other location and village, did everything up to the divines, did some number of the shrines, but most of the shrines are marked for travel and not completed, and i never bothered with the other three beasts because i realised that i was disliking the time i spent doing those portions. i did not care for combat (only willfully engaging openly when i saw the wildlife being poached by enemies, ahaha) and when i did engage i engaged in a way where i would jokingly refer to it as 'playing the legend of coward man'--throwing bombs and running away, a slow process of waiting around then slowly blasting enemies. so the sheer thought of restricting exploration for the sake of adding segments of the game that i came to dislike is not appealing. however. i realise too that i am a rarity in the market. the vast majority of people like the conflict and play games in a way where challenge is more appreciated for the challenge and not, if at all, how to break the challenge open entirely (ie, exploring limitations). i _did_ climb the wall meticulously and tediously for the zora location. i did it because i wanted to break the limitation. it was not supposed to be done that way, and so my reaction was to reply 'all right, but i will break it to do it anyway'. i did the same in scaling a wall that is obviously not meant to be scaled in _pokemon legends: arceus_ as well (to no reward--the cavern hidden beyond the wall is a flag triggered event!). you give me a wall, and i recognise the polygons have a foothold, and i will be damned if i don't try to find more. (the first thing i did in _skyrim_ was scale the mountain you're not really meant to scale. hippity-hoppity a tiny bit at a time. and then never played again lmao.) this is atypical though. what i am trying to say is, you are probably correct in that it would be better received, is probably preferred. but it would be a travesty if they permanently pivoted to limiting exploration for the sake of challenge, and never returned to wildly exploring for the sake of it. i WILL say that i agree entirely that climbing the vantage towers first thing was a mistake, and the game lost a ton of its lustre with a completed map. making it much more complex to do that (encouraging exploring rather than rushing the tower) is absolutely something they should consider.
