I liked it. (The video) I’ve been seriously thinking about buying the GLCF. I don’t care about the glow thing and honestly (it looks fine). I think it’s nice. I mean it’s a knife. I want it to look cool of course but (I’m gonna use it as a knife) and it looks pretty sweet (the design is killer) love it. It’s darker (stonewashed/ CF/titanium w/Grey or whatever.) It looks like a piece of equipment to be taken seriously. The lines on it look extremely nice. A manly but slick dangerous look too. I actually agree about shadow boxing that CF instead of what it has, but being that I like the lines/size/materials and the colors are alright … it’s fine. Although another thing I’d have liked is if ZT had beveled the finger holds a little more like the others. For a couple hundred less…It’s alright though. (Perspective) lol. Meh, I’m actually gonna buy it in a few minutes. Hey, BTW, I actually REALLY enjoyed the rambling, talking about it like it’s over a few beers in the garage or something. Yea. I liked it, watched the whole thing. Would again 👍. I think in the end, really? Knives are like socks, underwear, cars/trucks even girls. Everyone has what they like. (For whatever or likely a combination of reasons) like what you grew up with, what you ended up growing into, what you use it for, where you live, what you do for work/play. Hand size, dexterity, convenience, your overall style, who you see yourself as, Your budget, How often you’ll use it. Just ALL of it. (Ya know?) idk I’ve EDC’d a tactical knife for what? About 25 years now, so maybe I see certain things differently just because of that? A knife isn’t just “a knife” to me it’s like buying a body part. Lol So? (Right?) I’m changing my knife after about 12 years now and retiring the old one. Partially because it’s good to keep up with the times (a little bit anyway) but also I’m sentimental and it’s discontinued so I don’t wanna push my luck with it. I’ll likely just display the old one. It is still a nice blade. Point is, it’s important to me. I’ve been shopping for weeks! Lol, I know it’s likely this one will be with me EVERY DAY for the next 10 if it fits right, so? (Yea) it’s important to me. So just hearing and thinking through any aspects is helpful (really). Anyway yea, this was a fun video (I thought) thanks for putting it out there. Maybe it wasn’t crazy popular I don’t know but, I enjoyed it anyway. 👍 Cheers

IMO ZT shows one of the best machining capabilities on the market at their price point. They know how to make folders on washers and bearings, either manuals or flippers. The 056*, 06*0, 039*, 04** are great designs. They just don’t get the best of them. Only few models have handles colours and material or blade shapes and finishes variation. At the end it looks like they just miss a purpose for their product. They run after trends rather than setting their own. It is good to have variety in a portfolio but when you only maintain a limited number of models it only brings confusion. Sometimes it looks like they just want to just show of they are capable of working some material to promote the company as a potential OEM: The brown or greenish CF, the holes everywhere, etc. They do a great job but they should just kept it simple more often when it comes to their products designs and lineup ;)

ZT has been making good knives for a long time imo. Glad Hinderer started his own knife line however much like Allen Aleshewitz and Hogue.

Actually Hinderer was making knives loooong before ZT was a company. And also, the original ZT/Hinderer, which was the 0550, was based on the original XM-18, which is much, much older.

0393 is a good one but 0640 (after you fix the scales and clip) is my favorite ZT of all time... also 0452 and 0462 Sinkevich knives are top 5 for sure

I've got smaller hands, so I often look for a smaller knife. I really like my ZT 0450CF. Everything is amazingly tight and masterfully crafted. I'd buy it again if I had to do it over.

The zt 0220 belongs in that lineup. Jens Anso design, all titanium, s35vn thicker blade stock, snappiest action of any zt I've flipped. I hated the orange backspacer on the stock version, but found a gpknives exclusive with a blue backspacer that matches the zt badge on the show side scale. It does have a slight recurve, but not too much to make sharpening difficult. It's my favorite zt. Just checked and saw all versions are discontinued. Have you ever handled one MC? I think you'd dig it, the "thwack" it makes when you flip it open is super satisfying.

Looks like a great knife for sure! I've never handled it, but that's mostly because I just don't find recurves to be attractive, and I personally hate sharpening them.

@@metal_complex Gotcha. I use the KME and am able to sharpen it using the regular sharpening rod, it's a very subtle recurve. I have the 0562 in g10 and elmax and that guy is discontinued too. Kind of nice to find out I've got two discontinued zt's. 🤑

Well it's the tail end of 2011. I typically like bigger knives and WE is going the other direction. I think the 937 is the only 4 inch blade available. Reate has just a few models available on the big knife websites. I have a WE 614 and 615 and do not feel compelled to buy anything from their current available stock. Maybe there's a bunch of WE and Reate inventory sitting in that pile up of container ships off the west cost... Long story short, I bought a ZT0393GLCF this morning as they're disappearing. Yay, win for me because I usually decide I like a knife after you can't get them anymore. Not sure how long this model has been out but it looks much like the 393 you have in this video. Currently the price is 300 with MSRP at 350 and they've sold almost all of them. They should have made it this way from the start instead of releasing that blue abomination. Anyway my bet is they'll appreciate in value. ZT needs to top chasing WE and Bestech and go back selling hard-core bad ass designs and skip everything else. Maybe do like Hinderer and make some alternate color hardware and scales to dress up their knives for those customers that want that. I like your point about the 452CF. I have the 452CF, the 452TI sprint run and the 452GL sprint run. If they come out with another 452 sprint run that I like I may buy another. Some of ZT's cleanest sell-though has been on tried and true designs. ZT needs to learn that the knife industry in not like the fashion industry...

I turned my blue 0393 into almost exactly that exclusive. I used a scotch brite pad on the blue handles and lightly on the black part of the blade. It looks very similar

I recently got the zt0393glcf. The blade is all in the hinderer working finish and the titanium scales are working finish. I have all hinderer working finish hardware. I am purchasing screws, standoffs, stop pin, and pivot nut on the captured side in raw matte titanium from eBay that will match the hinderer working finish and I already purchased black burlap full size scales that will shadow box the titanium scales. Action is so fall shutty is crazy good.

ZT needs to make another grand slam. When was the last time that happened? I for one would love a user-oriented EDC performer. Thumbstuds, washers, a blade design that cuts effectively while still maintaining their (claimed) hard-use heritage. Get it around 150-200, something like S35VN with a GOOD heat treatment. Hopefully don't ruin it with a shitty clip, lanyard hole, or material choice.

Crud Muffins I just had the most insane realization. The ZT0055 is both a tanto and a reverse tanto, with some compound grind sprinkled in. The blade shape according to the internet is reverse tanto. However the compound grind creates a secondary tip. Reverse tanto tanto. Plz help me

I love the 0562ti and the 0920, I bought the 0393 and was dissapointed in the detent/flipping action it felt weak and flimsy compared to other zts I have handled. I really dislike the small oddly colored girl knives that zt seems to be trending towards now.

I have the 0393 and like it. Had the 0562 and that’s even better. But, I think the discoed 0801Ti is the best of the regular production (not 0392). I don’t like flippers but the 0801Ti flips as good or better then the 0562, great design, thinner useful blade stock, lighter then it looks. Great knife..

Interesting video to watch from 7 months ago. ZT missed out on the surge in beefy knife demand that went hand in hand with COVID apocalypse prep and gun/ammo sales. If they were their old selves they would've sold out across the board. I lost a lot of respect for ZT as a company when they obviously didn't learn or realize that considering their 2021 new releases. It's a little baffling. The 308 fits this but then their other ones are even advertised in their release trailer as gentleman/white collar carries. Will they sell them? I'm sure. Would they clear house rereleasing an old beefy model right now? I think so.

Yet they continue to produce polarizing products and don't offer differing options or sell different scales or materials themselves. Their marketing and sales department decision s are baffling.
