The ZWO ASI2600MC-Pro camera is a APS-C sized astrophotography camera to capture the night sky like never before. This is a big and somewhat heavy piece of gear, but the photos it delivers are very high resolution and very low in noise. This camera has been a powerhouse for me now for about a year and the performance is high above any astrophotography oriented camera I’ve tested in my own equipment. Come along as we go over some of the highlights and discuss what the camera can do for you.

This was one of the first serious astro cameras I got. This and the 533 both are killer astro cameras. Nice overview.

What about ZWO ASI678MC 8.29 megapixel with a astromania narrowband Hydrogen-A 12nm deep sky photos in H-Alpha light filter for photographing galaxies and nebulas as a beginner? I hear the ZWO pros are best, but I can't find them under like $1,200.

Nice overview! But one question: The size of a small target, the ring nebula ( for instance) on a camera chip depends on the focal length of the telescope, not on the cameratype. and if the pixelsize of both camera's (533 mcpro and 2600mcpro) are equal, and the amount of pixels/sq inch is the same, why would the 533mcpro perform better at small targets, like the ring nebula?

The reason for this is as the the size of the physical chip is smaller, it essentially “crops” the field of view of your telescope. So even though the focal length is the same, the field of the view of the camera chips are different. For example a crop sensor vs full frame DSLR. The full frame (even with the same lens let’s say) offers a wider field since the larger diameter chip can “see” more. And the crop sensor is smaller so it has a more narrow field. Hope that helps!

Right! This means that for instance the image of a small target like the ring nebula seen by a 700mm apo , projected on any chip will always have the same dimensions. The bigger chip ofcourse will show more stars, because of its wider field, but the tiny ring nebula in the middle of the image, will always have dimensions only determined by the focal length of the apo.

@@janvink7186 And, with the smaller chip and dense pixel you can crop and still have decent resolution. To enlarge the Ring largely you’ll have to increase focal length to your desired framing.

I am not able to find guidestars most times with DUO and Edge 8 and 0.7x reducer. hardly one or two blurry instable stars, and loses quite often. not able to even calibrate at times. focus on main camera is tact sharp. tried increasing gain and exposure no luck. tried turining fine focus knob of DUO no luck. am trying on galaxies such as whirlpool, bode's and cigars. can you (or anyone else on this thread) help what am i missing please

Unfortunately I’ve heard this a bit from other users of the Duo camera. Are you photographing from light pollution? Unless you are shooting from really dark skies and don’t use filters much the Duo seems to be a good fit. But for light polluted skies, and narrowband filters, it’s nearly impossible to use the Duo to guide as well sadly. I was excited about it too when it came out but early reports have leaned me to keep my standard rig of doing what I am now. OAG work differently since you can place it before the filter so you get more light, but the Duo cameras do suffer.
