Came to hear you play some Billy Gibbons style guitar and was not disappointed

Why WOULD you be? :o)

Should be two "Z"s in the pedal name, eh? They missed their chance.

I will have to make do with stacking a couple of my old Boss pedals given pedal prices are getting plain silly. Sounds good but alas way out of my reach..😢🇦🇺

If you are running as a preamp in to an audio interface and IR, you need to run the pedal through a power amp simulator like the Two Notes Opus or into a tube amp into an attenuator with DI out. Otherwise you are onkly getting preamp gain and not the big bold sound of it pushing a power amp. There is a huge difference in tone. So basically for my portable rig I go pedals into the Magezium then Magnezium into Opus (using power amp of choice and IR of choice) then into the interface. Or..you can disable the CAB IR and is one in you computer. I personally have mine run through an Axe FX chain.

At a little over halfway through this video, I decided I want it. Awesome sounding pedal. Blues On....💙 I ❤ the sound of this pedal so much that maybe I'll just save up and buy the Magnatone Super Fifty-Nine M-80 1x12 inch 45-watt Tube Combo Amp - Gold

Sounds good, looks cool but I don't know it's much of an upgrade over any number of drive pedal options at much less $$$

Sounds amazing, very dynamic. How would this compare to the The Eliminator from Missing Link Audio?
@auntjenifer77743 ай бұрын
This sounds almost identical to the legend Rock and roll 50 that ZZ Top used on Eliminator ! I Don't know what the other pedal sounds like but this one's killer in my opinion !

I don't know if it has anything to do with your sound or studio Shane but it sounds way too bright. Magnatone amps, especially the ones that Billy Gibbons use have a darker tone. Also it should have had a vibrato as well. Magnatone amps are famous for their vibrato. The pedal sounds good but i wouldn't call it a Magnatone in-a-box. It sounds like most of the Marshall based pedals out there.

I agree. I owned his Orange pedal and it was horribly bright and incredibly fizzy (nothing like my old Rockerverb MkII or MkIII) with a terrible, near unusable tone stack. The tone stack was also nothing like an Orange or a Vox. Scooped and harsh for days but if you increased the midrange it reduced the treble and was dull as a plank of wood. There was simply no ability to tune it in and it sounded awful. I sold it. It looked beautiful and that was it. This is not being mean but simply what I think: I believe Ollie has killer engineering chops but his ears are shot. He needs to get someone else to tune his EQ and tones.

If you want to dial out the tops you can. It will also depend on your amp, EQ, and recording setup. I prefer a brighter tone over a darker sound.

So the Magnatone Super 59 is based on the Marshall 1959 Plexi. What's not to like, sounds great! Well worth it for the money I think.

There is something magical about Bluesbreaker type pedals (essentially what this is) into Fender amps - to the point that if you have a Fender amp and no Bluesbreaker/Gov'ner pedal of some type "you are doing wrong".
@57ebartley8 ай бұрын
Now wasn’t ZZ tops sound born from Marshall amps? Ive Watched several rig rundowns in the last few years on them. Billy might like the tone of the Magnatone now but it wasn’t where all that famous music of ZZ Top Originated from.
