I worked with a guy who was a retired full bird colonel from the US Air Force. He pretty much flew all the century fighters including the F4, I once asked him, what was the best physical sensation you ever had in an aircraft, he replied, 400kts on the deck in the F4 always felt pretty good. Kudos to the Japanese for keeping these grand birds flying.

Although this plane's get very high flight speed and climbing rate, it lacks more maneuverability. Remember that the Phantom were conceived as interceptor fighters, rather than multirole fighters like the F-15 Eagle.
@billgund45325 жыл бұрын
@@fightingfalcon1986 Excellent point. The Phantom was conceived for the Navy as a fleet defense A/C. High speed, crazy rate of climb, decent range, great fire control radar and stand off capabilities. It was the forerunner of the F-14 & F-15. The fact that it performed "air to mud" as well as it did is a testament to its' versatility.
