More like the rabbit hole is falling up him. Fubuki responded to him, a few girls started mentioning him occasionally, he attained the name "Drummer Niki(Bro)" then the JP subbing clip community took off with him and now he's known well throughout the whole fandom. I know it probably isn't, but to me Hololive feels like the first thing to really bring the Japanese and the Japanfans together bilaterally.

I don't want to take away from ame's efforts but knowing how to read a couple lines in japanese takes like 10 minutes (basically what gura does when singing) and autotune is helping with the singing part. Also she's not the only one, fauna, gura and mumei doesn't speak japanese as well and half of the cast can't sing.

It's easy to repeatedly learn the lyrics mate. There's not too much "learning" needed for this. Even if you don't understand the words, your brain remembers the way how you pronounce the words as well as the tone and the speed with enough practice or repetition. That's where the effort comes in.

In order to gift a sub, you can either specify who the sub goes to or gift a random person; in the case of the latter they typically go to someone who is either currently in chat or has visited a stream within the last week or so. So while it is possible that Miko was there for this cover, there's no way to determine it just by seeing the gift sub drop.
